There are two kinds of professionals in the world — the ones who just work hard, and the others who work hard and work smart. The greatest level of success comes to the people who find a balance between hard work and smart work. This is certainly true in the world of Internet marketing.

As a blogger, you must be working day and night to produce great content, drive traffic and make money from ads.  But it is easy to overlook some of the simplest methods of increasing traffic and thus AdSense earnings by a significant amount.

So – in today’s post I am sharing one of the simplest ways to improve traffic and increase your income!

Benefits of using long tail and high CPC AdSense Keywords:

Surely you are aware of the fact that the most targeted traffic your blog has, the more money you will make. Similarly, the more high-CPC keywords you are using, the more your AdSense earnings will increase over time.

I have written about long tail keywords in the past and explained how these keywords help you to rank higher with search engines.  I have also explained how long tail keywords are easy to rank for and help you to get highly targeted organic traffic.

Now suppose we could find a way to identify the perfect combination of long tail keywords that are also CPC AdSense keywords?  Sounds like a money-making combination, does it not?  Read on!

Next, have a look at another great tool called Semrush, which I am about to introduce to you. Semrush will assist you in identifying long tail, high CPC keywords literally within seconds!

Using Semrush to find profitable AdSense Keywords:

Semrush is one amazing tool and is a unique tool in terms of the amazing features it offers. I won’t go into a detailed explanation of this tool here because you can refer to my review article to learn all you need to know about using Semrush. What I want do today is show you how you can use this tool to find profitable AdSense keywords.

To get all you can from this excellent tool, I suggest you first compile the following tools:

  • Google Docs spreadsheet or any other tool you’re using to manage keywords.
  • Semrush account. (Get complete 14-day free trial using this link)
  • List of high and medium authority blogs in your niche.

Login to your Semrush account, and type the name of the domain that you want to use for finding long tail high CPC keywords. For example, in this case I’m using Warrior forum

  • Save

On the next page, click on organic keywords > Full list, and you will be shown a list of keywords that are driving traffic to the Warrior Forum.

Now, you simply need to sort the list by clicking on the CPC tab, and it will sort the list in order of high CPC keywords first.

Interesting to note is the fact that the majority of high CPC AdSense keywords are usually long tail keywords. Indeed, some of them are as high as $300+ per click!

Now begin copying the keywords which you think are most suitable for your blog. (I usually note most of the keywords on my content-planning Google document, and I use these notes later for structuring content on ShoutMeLoud or any other blog.)

Continue to repeat the process for the other domains on the list, and by the time you have completed this exercise, you will have an extensive list of high-CPC AdSense keywords.

Since you are already targeting niche-based long tail keywords, you are most likely to rank higher and drive traffic on those keywords. This is one of the simplest and fastest ways to skyrocket your AdSense earnings.

Keep in mind that you need to make sure your keywords are driving traffic from countries like the United States. Otherwise, you are not maximizing your potential from this tip.

Semrush is one of the best search engine marketing tools available, and I highly recommend that you take it for a test-drive at the very least. You can use the link below to get completely free access to Semrush for 14 days, which usually costs $150. (You do need a credit card to take advantage of this offer, but you can cancel your subscription anytime within the 14-day trial period.)

Take the 14- day free trial of Semrush!

I have also created this video tutorial to explain how you can use Semrush to find highly profitable AdSense Keywords:

Yes you are spot on, But now days to get ranking on high CPC keyword is very tough. Most of the authority site has already taken their position for High paying keyword on Search result. So for new blogger like me need to finding long trail keyword as well as how to rank them in a safe way. So i hope you will also make a post on it. Thank You

This is the best piece of advice on AdSense I have ever come across. The truth is that many people ignore high CPC long tail words and join the masses in competing for seed words that aren’t worth fighting for.

    Thanks once again shouter.

    Hello Harsh
First of all thanxs a lot for such an awesome post. I have a query on this post,
Is it necessary that traffic should come through organic search only. If I drive traffic of USA and UK through social media to my website on keywords having high CPC then shall I will get the same commission as through organic search or will it differ.
    Please Reply
    Thanxs

Hey harsh really good post but I have one dought
the volume searches for these keywords are really very low as it also shown in the video the cpc is high but the volume of search have only 10 -20 search monthly then what will we do in that case

    1. Harsh Agrawal

      @Rahul
That’s normal with long-tail high CPC Keyword. Do learn about On page optimization & ensure your post rank on the first page of Google. It’s tough but not impossible.

      1. Ian Shah

What if we will get direct traffic for that keyword through social media , Will it give same cpc

  15. Suresh

That’s Nice… I was not sure one can get this much CPC. I am new to blogging and I am getting $0.05- $0.11 CPC. Special thanks to Harsh Agrawal for sharing this valuable article. Now I got learn how to get high CPC.

  16. King James

Harsh, this is has been an interesting read. Over the years, you have really put in a lot of efforts in your blogs to the admiration of many and I think we all appreciate that. This is what blogging is all about- caring for your visitors and not necessarily setting up some bot word press site full of ads.

Anyway, my head sniped when I read your title considering that I from Ghana and most of my target keywords are all locally based. Just wondering if I will ever earn such income since currently I hardly get click but rather earns just meager in cpm.

I will be glad if you can give me some advice with respect to the kind of keywords am targeting. In fact, I intend to target the keywords towards the people in my country thus purely local search. Do you think that will help me in anyway earn enough from Adsense?

Currently I am ranking on page ONE for my main keywords being: personal development blogs in ghana, best personal development blogs in ghana, best personal development blogs in ghana, top motivational blogs in ghana….

wish to hear from you or any of the bloggers that comment here and will really appreciate that

  17. Nisha

Wow 50$ per click!! Can i get it?? My targeted audience is Indian. then how can i get like this ??
One more thing, my site language is Hindi. then i think , it is too hard achieve this…

  18. Zahid Iqbal

I never see any keyword that pay so much high. Even if we target high CPC keywords, reward per click will be 1 dollar or less.

  19. Pat Mallon

I understand how you target and compile these keywords from SEM Rush, but what do you do once you have the list? Do you start writing content that is built around those particular keywords?

  20. Krishna Rath

    Hello Harsh,
Great article. The best part is that when I google for help on SEO and increasing traffic to own blog, I always get to see shoumeloud in the first 2 pages of google! This tells that your methods work!
The pointers to HitTail is interesting, will use that I shall post my results later.
    Thanks a ton
