There are two kinds of professionals in the world — the ones who just work hard, and the others who work hard and work smart. The greatest level of success comes to the people who find a balance between hard work and smart work. This is certainly true in the world of Internet marketing.

As a blogger, you must be working day and night to produce great content, drive traffic and make money from ads.  But it is easy to overlook some of the simplest methods of increasing traffic and thus AdSense earnings by a significant amount.

So – in today’s post I am sharing one of the simplest ways to improve traffic and increase your income!

Benefits of using long tail and high CPC AdSense Keywords:

Surely you are aware of the fact that the most targeted traffic your blog has, the more money you will make. Similarly, the more high-CPC keywords you are using, the more your AdSense earnings will increase over time.

I have written about long tail keywords in the past and explained how these keywords help you to rank higher with search engines.  I have also explained how long tail keywords are easy to rank for and help you to get highly targeted organic traffic.

Now suppose we could find a way to identify the perfect combination of long tail keywords that are also CPC AdSense keywords?  Sounds like a money-making combination, does it not?  Read on!

Next, have a look at another great tool called Semrush, which I am about to introduce to you. Semrush will assist you in identifying long tail, high CPC keywords literally within seconds!

Using Semrush to find profitable AdSense Keywords:

Semrush is one amazing tool and is a unique tool in terms of the amazing features it offers. I won’t go into a detailed explanation of this tool here because you can refer to my review article to learn all you need to know about using Semrush. What I want do today is show you how you can use this tool to find profitable AdSense keywords.

To get all you can from this excellent tool, I suggest you first compile the following tools:

  • Google Docs spreadsheet or any other tool you’re using to manage keywords.
  • Semrush account. (Get complete 14-day free trial using this link)
  • List of high and medium authority blogs in your niche.

Login to your Semrush account, and type the name of the domain that you want to use for finding long tail high CPC keywords. For example, in this case I’m using Warrior forum

  • Save

On the next page, click on organic keywords > Full list, and you will be shown a list of keywords that are driving traffic to the Warrior Forum.

Now, you simply need to sort the list by clicking on the CPC tab, and it will sort the list in order of high CPC keywords first.

Interesting to note is the fact that the majority of high CPC AdSense keywords are usually long tail keywords. Indeed, some of them are as high as $300+ per click!

Now begin copying the keywords which you think are most suitable for your blog. (I usually note most of the keywords on my content-planning Google document, and I use these notes later for structuring content on ShoutMeLoud or any other blog.)

Continue to repeat the process for the other domains on the list, and by the time you have completed this exercise, you will have an extensive list of high-CPC AdSense keywords.

Since you are already targeting niche-based long tail keywords, you are most likely to rank higher and drive traffic on those keywords. This is one of the simplest and fastest ways to skyrocket your AdSense earnings.

Keep in mind that you need to make sure your keywords are driving traffic from countries like the United States. Otherwise, you are not maximizing your potential from this tip.

Semrush is one of the best search engine marketing tools available, and I highly recommend that you take it for a test-drive at the very least. You can use the link below to get completely free access to Semrush for 14 days, which usually costs $150. (You do need a credit card to take advantage of this offer, but you can cancel your subscription anytime within the 14-day trial period.)

Take the 14- day free trial of Semrush!

I have also created this video tutorial to explain how you can use Semrush to find highly profitable AdSense Keywords:

    Hi Harsh,
Excellent article. I have used Long Tail Pro but I was not satisfied adn SEM Rush is far better. One can make good amount of money using Adsense if they know the importance of targeting high paying CPC keywords instead of targeting 0.01 CPC keywords which most bloggers do out of ignorance.

There are no keyword that pays that much for a single click. Perhaps, the highest I’ve seen for a click in display advertisement is 5$ . You have to understand that you have display advertisement and search advertisement for Google. These keywords you listed above from 30- 70 dollars are search adverts, the ones that display on top of google search engine for the keyword query.

Most advertisers don’t use display advertisement because search tend to convert better.

Hi Harsh, thanks for the useful information. I tried a 10 day free version of “Long Tail Pro” for keyword search but it was not as much beneficial for my blog as I thought. Now, I’ll definitely use and try SEMRUSH and check if there is any difference. I am excited to use this tool in my next 4-5 posts during these 14 days. Thanks again.

Ensure that you try this strategy for a niche site. Also take advantage of custom channels offered by Adsense for making your niche site targeted for advertisers.

I have a question in my mind. Do we have any free tool to find long tail keywords with high CPC. If there are some, please let me know the names.

    Thanks

    1. Ananta Kumar Gupta

Hi, yes there is one free tool. You can use Google Keyword Planner (can be accessed from Google Adwords) ….. but as Harsh is saying GKP can take longer time in providing Keywods than SEMRUSH. But since that is free no harm in checking Googl Keyword Planner. Thanks.
