Name: Media.net
Summary
Media.net is a contextual ad network that is powered by Yahoo! and Bing, implying that it displays ads that are relevant to the content of the page. It shows only high-quality and high-paying ads.
When it comes to making money from a blog, you have many options. One of the simplest is to place PPC advertisements on your blog, and you will be paid depending on the niche, quality of traffic, and the number of clicks on ads.
Of all the advertising networks currently available, Google AdSense is certainly the best, but it is also one of the most highly criticized, due to its harsh rules. Many bloggers lose their hope of making money with AdSense once their AdSense account is disabled or not approved.
I have previously written about many alternative ways to make money in this article. Today I’m featuring Media.net, which is a contextual ad network brought to you by Yahoo! and Bing together.
Media.net is an ad network that has been getting great reviews from around the globe. Media.net is currently an invitation based ad network, and anyone can request an invite here.
Here is the recent payment that I received from media.net:
There are many great features of Media.net, one of them being a dedicated account manager to help you get started, and help you to make more money from the blog.
I will discuss all of this in greater detail later in this article, but first, let’s have a look at what Media.net is all about.
Media.net: features and program information:
Media.net is a contextual ad network, which means that it hosts advertisements based on the context of the page. For example, if you are running Media.net ads on your page about dogs, your readers will see advertisements related to dogs and dog products. Similarly, a page about cameras will have ads related to cameras and photography accessories.
Contextual advertisements perform better than any other type of ads (direct ads), and this is one reason why AdSense is so popular.
Media.net is powered by Yahoo! and Bing, and you will see only high-quality and high-paying ads through Media.net.
Media.net is targeted to small to large Bloggers & media houses that produce quality content. So even if you have a small blog with targeted and quality content, your chance of getting approval is high.
Here are some of the most notable features of the Media.net ad network:
- Contextual advertisements: As mentioned above, ads will be shown based on the context of the page.
- High revenue: The quality of ads is high, and various optimization techniques will help you to make a significant amount of money from your hosted ads.
- Mobile ads: One of the key features of Media.net is the hosting of mobile ads. This feature is currently in beta, but with the growing number of smartphone users, mobile ads are the future of advertising for publishers. Media.net mobile detection technology automatically detects mobile and smartphone browsers and serves mobile ads which will help you to earn additional income.
- Account manager: There are very few ad networks offering dedicated account managers, and Media.net is one of them. As soon as you get an approved Media.net account, you will be assigned an account manager, and he will assist you with the setup and help you to get started. Indeed, if you are not a blogger who likes to optimize ads (colour, text, etc.), your account manager will do this for you.
- Neat and clean reporting dashboard: The reporting dashboard is neat, and it is easy to become accustomed to using it.
- One account for unlimited websites: If you have one approved account with Media.net, you can use the same account to run advertisements on multiple websites. You will, however, need to get approval for every website, which is easy with the help of site manager.
- Multiple ad unit sizes: You can create multiple ad unit sizes using the Media.net ad management panel.
How to get started with Media.net
Currently, the Yahoo! Bing contextual ad network (Media.net) is an invitation based ad network. You can apply for an invite code here, by adding details about you and your website. If you have multiple blogs/websites, you can apply for all of them under one account from the same page.
Soon thereafter, one of their representatives will evaluate your blog, and once you are approved, you will be assigned an account manager, and you will receive your login details via email.
To ensure the high quality of ads, they do have program policies, and before applying it is a good idea to review these policies for your information.
Once your application has been approved, log in to the Media.net dashboard, start creating ad units for your website, and place the code. The process is simple, and if you have ever used an ad network such as AdSense or any other, the process is almost the same.
At the time of the writing of this post, Media.net supports payment via PayPal and Payoneer.
I recommend you to use Payoneer for a payout as it’s cheaper than PayPal. You can read my case study on this here.
The minimum payout threshold is $100.
Overall, after reading the reviews about Media.net and considering the way it has evolved in the past year, I feel comfortable recommending that you go ahead and sign up for a publisher’s account.
If you are an existing Media.net publisher, I would love to hear your feedback, experience, and opinion.

I applied for Adsense but was rejected citing low content. That is absurd, considering I had over 60 500 words+ articles. Anyway, they have the final word, so recently I implemented media.net. I noticed some cents trickling in immediately, but not as good as Amazon’s advertising fees. I still wish I could get Adsense approval. Right now, I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong.
Hey Harsh!
We have tried both adsense and media.net… One day one media.net pay 2$ RPM and the next day it goes to .01$ and the follow 0$.
They are pure scam. I am not the only who have seen this may blogger and magazine sites have faced this issue with them.
Hi Harsh,
How are you? Thanks for posting such useful info. Although my media.net acc has been approved, where and how do I login to my dashboard?! I mean will they be sending me the login details or am I missing something here? It’s pretty bizarre!
Hey Aditya,
You must have signed up using an email. Use that.
I don’t know why it took some people several days before media.net approved their sites because I applied on weekend and got my site approved on Monday afternoon (within the first working after I applied).
Yes Same here.
Applied on Monday. Got Approval on Tuesday. On my first day got 4.39$ (Yesterday)
i am using media.net from last month .. first few days all was good. bu after some days the rpm is zero and m not earning anything from this. so can u tell me sir how to increase rpm .
Hey Gagan!
We did tried media.net and it’s one the worst ad network that you can opt. for. If possible use adsense or native content advertisers like mgid.
Media.net is driving traffic the their advertisers but they are not paying the advertisers. I guess they are running some kind of scam.
I have implemented media net on my website , and from my experience I get lower compare to adsense, maybe its the position of the ad
Thank you so much. Better option for every newbie blogger as Google AdSense approval keep getting difficult by the day
thank you HARSH , i need to ask if Media.net has hard terms and condition as google AdSense ??
@Mohammad
Not as tough as AdSense.
Hi,
Can I use Adsense & Media.net Ads Together?
@Vijay
Yes you can!
Hi Harsh
How many ad units would you recommend on a page?
@Arunima
2-3 is a good number. Sometimes 4 ad unit also works as long as you maintain proper distance between every ad unit.
Media.net is the best alternative of adsense. It has no doubt. I got my account yesterday. But, I expected responsive ad unite their like adsense which is not available. But its ads are neat and clean. It doesn’t harm visitors’ experience like others. I hope it will perform better in my blog. I have placed ad codes for a few hours and i got a few dollars. It means i will be able to earn some extra good amount per month.
Hi Harsh Sir,
Can i use media.net ads with google adsense and mgid.
Thanks Harsh For giving this valuable info. I have applied this some time ago but not approved. so now we applying again.
Thanks
Hey Semanto,
All the best:)
My adsense account got banned today and lost 198$. Hope Media.Net proves to be a good alternative.
Hi sir, i have daily traffic/pageviews around 4/5000, and i am already a member of adsense, infolinks, buysellads, trio networks are active on my blog.. so still can i apply for media.net , and can i show ads of four networks in my blog at a time
Hi Harsh, Great Article. Thanks.
The only point which I may highlight which others or you have not pointed out is the availability of Responsive Ads. Google Ads provide responsive Ads i.e. which adjusts themselves according to the space available on the page as well as the device. We use them extensively, not sure if Media.net provides them.
Hi harsh, very nice post, but one thing I want to ask you, that, I have AdSense code actively on my blog, I also want to apply for media.net cause AdSense not Working for me, so I want to try media ads, so is it necessary to remove AdSense ad and then apply for media.
@Gautam
It’s not necessary to remove AdSense ads. You can use Media.net & AdSense ads together on your blog.
Hi!
I am earning good from AdSense but I want to know can I use both the ad networks AdSense & Media.net on the same blog.
Getting mix reply from other bloggers, so want to know from you.
Thanks, waiting for your response!
@Hey Imran
You should use both & see which one works best for your blog niche. At Many times, Media.net has proven to generate more revenue over AdSense.
One of your posts says that we should not use any other contextual ad program with adsense to stay safe. Otherwise adsense account may get banned. And here you are saying that we can use both. What’s right? Google has not specified anything like this in their policy.
@Rohit
You can use any other ad network if it matches the AdSense guidelines.
Few ad networks serve AdSense ads, & if you already running AdSense ads directly, it leads to problem. That’s not the case here.

Now they changed some rules
Minimum payout is $100 payment cycle is 30 days which means if you made $200 by Jan. 31, 2015 you will get paid in last week of FEb.
I use media.net for a week and can say that it gives you great result if you have good traffic from US, Canada & UK countries.
