Summary

Media.net is a contextual ad network that is powered by Yahoo! and Bing, implying that it displays ads that are relevant to the content of the page. It shows only high-quality and high-paying ads.

When it comes to making money from a blog, you have many options. One of the simplest is to place PPC advertisements on your blog, and you will be paid depending on the niche, quality of traffic, and the number of clicks on ads.

Of all the advertising networks currently available, Google AdSense is certainly the best, but it is also one of the most highly criticized, due to its harsh rules. Many bloggers lose their hope of making money with AdSense once their AdSense account is disabled or not approved.

I have previously written about many alternative ways to make money in this article.  Today I’m featuring Media.net, which is a contextual ad network brought to you by Yahoo! and Bing together.

Media.net is an ad network that has been getting great reviews from around the globe. Media.net is currently an invitation based ad network, and anyone can request an invite here.

Here is the recent payment that I received from media.net:

There are many great features of Media.net, one of them being a dedicated account manager to help you get started, and help you to make more money from the blog.

I will discuss all of this in greater detail later in this article, but first, let’s have a look at what Media.net is all about.

Media.net: features and program information:

Media.net is a contextual ad network, which means that it hosts advertisements based on the context of the page. For example, if you are running Media.net ads on your page about dogs, your readers will see advertisements related to dogs and dog products. Similarly, a page about cameras will have ads related to cameras and photography accessories.

Contextual advertisements perform better than any other type of ads (direct ads), and this is one reason why AdSense is so popular.

Media.net is powered by Yahoo! and Bing, and you will see only high-quality and high-paying ads through Media.net.

Media.net is targeted to small to large Bloggers & media houses that produce quality content. So even if you have a small blog with targeted and quality content, your chance of getting approval is high.

Here are some of the most notable features of the Media.net ad network:

  • Contextual advertisements: As mentioned above, ads will be shown based on the context of the page.
  • High revenue: The quality of ads is high, and various optimization techniques will help you to make a significant amount of money from your hosted ads.
  • Mobile ads: One of the key features of Media.net is the hosting of mobile ads. This feature is currently in beta, but with the growing number of smartphone users, mobile ads are the future of advertising for publishers. Media.net mobile detection technology automatically detects mobile and smartphone browsers and serves mobile ads which will help you to earn additional income.

  • Account manager: There are very few ad networks offering dedicated account managers, and Media.net is one of them. As soon as you get an approved Media.net account, you will be assigned an account manager, and he will assist you with the setup and help you to get started. Indeed, if you are not a blogger who likes to optimize ads (colour, text, etc.), your account manager will do this for you.
  • Neat and clean reporting dashboard: The reporting dashboard is neat, and it is easy to become accustomed to using it.
  • One account for unlimited websites: If you have one approved account with Media.net, you can use the same account to run advertisements on multiple websites. You will, however, need to get approval for every website, which is easy with the help of site manager.

How to get started with Media.net

Currently, the Yahoo! Bing contextual ad network (Media.net) is an invitation based ad network. You can apply for an invite code here, by adding details about you and your website. If you have multiple blogs/websites, you can apply for all of them under one account from the same page.

Soon thereafter, one of their representatives will evaluate your blog, and once you are approved, you will be assigned an account manager, and you will receive your login details via email.

To ensure the high quality of ads, they do have program policies, and before applying it is a good idea to review these policies for your information.

Once your application has been approved, log in to the Media.net dashboard, start creating ad units for your website, and place the code. The process is simple, and if you have ever used an ad network such as AdSense or any other, the process is almost the same.

At the time of the writing of this post, Media.net supports payment via PayPal and Payoneer.

I recommend you to use Payoneer for a payout as it’s cheaper than PayPal. You can read my case study on this here.

The minimum payout threshold is $100.

Overall, after reading the reviews about Media.net and considering the way it has evolved in the past year, I feel comfortable recommending that you go ahead and sign up for a publisher’s account.

If you are an existing Media.net publisher, I would love to hear your feedback, experience, and opinion.

      Hey,

Media.net accepts publishers from around the globe and not just US,UK or Canada.
Also, we do not ban publishers during their payouts. I know about all this because I work there. Hope it helps.

      @Rajesh
Yes it is available for India region too.

      1. Manish

          1. Pranshu Tiwari

any best alternative for hindi blog, i run a website for 5 months only and daily trffic is app 40-45k but its in hindi and adsense is troubling, cpc is way low as 0.03-0.04$

          2. Harsh Agrawal

            Hey Pranshu,

            You can try Adnow.

  4. Chinedu

I think Media net is really good.I will give it a try even though I have not applied for adsense yet. Thanks so much for sharing.

  5. Pinkey

    Hi Harsh & Other Bloggers,

Would it be possible to know, how much one can earn i.e. CTR from Yahoo & Google. Appreciate if I get to know and can apply myself for the same.

    Thanks in advance.

    Pinkey.

    1. Harsh Agrawal

      @Pinkey
For that someone need to A/B test AdSense & Media.net. More than CTR, I would focus on CPC generated by these individual ad network.

  6. Hemz

Media.net is my first choice when i think of ad networks other than AdSense. I have been with media.net for over a year and have been able to earn $200-$300 consistently . They do provide account managers which will be very handy and they can guide you at some point in order to monetize the revenue.

    1. Harsh Agrawal

      @Hemz
Even I heard some great news about Media.net in 2016. Seems like they have improved a lot in past few months.

      1. kelvin- infoexposure

harsh…talking about improvement i really don’t think they have in any way. As many bloggers are still finding it difficult to calculate their earnings from the dashboard or earn better with this network.

  7. Tfort

My question is does media.net accept publishers or accounts from AFrica or is it restricted to Americans only?

    1. Jash

      Hi,

Media.net accepts publishers from around the globe. The only criteria it has for approving websites is that they should have good relevant content and decent traffic.

  8. kaye fiq

Good post; My Google Adsense was disabled this week with all the money for last month with held. But i have applied for media.net ads hope to get better results

  9. Piyush Dhiman

As per my experience by using both Google and Yahoo/Bing ad networks. I discovered yahoo/bing network has better RPM rate which result in good revenue, also they provide you an agent with whom you can work directly to optimize your ads and was the first service that got me the best results that I could ever imagine.

There are few things which are not mentioned in the above article.

Being a Media.net publisher let me share with you guys.

    1. Payout history, information is not available on the publisher dashboard. So you never know up to which date you get paid. I don’t understand other then keeping publisher in dark there could be any other logical reason for not displaying the information.

    2. Minimum payout is $200 which means they will only release your money once you hit $200 mark. Moreover payment cycle is 60 days which means if you made $200 by Jan. 31, 2016 you will get paid in first week of April.

I think this should be the best alternatives for those who got banned their Google Adsense accounts. Most of us are getting disappointed by Adsense. Hence, this should be the best choice for those peoples..Thanks a lot sharing useful tips bro..

  12. Piyush

    Hello Harsh,
So, the first option should always be the Google Adsense no ?
and can we keep media.net, Google Adsense and vig links all together on one blog ?

    1. Harsh Agrawal

      @Piyush
Yes, you can use AdSense, Media.net and VigLink at the same time.

  13. Dhruba

They are really nice and I have got approved in my first trial…!!
I have accounts but I want to ask you Harsh, that do they give two different accounts ads in one blog like Adsense do..??

  14. Nitin mohan

medianet is a good advertising network it works on the basis of 1000 impression costs but getting approval is bit tough

    1. sandeep kumar

yes you are right . Media net only approves quality websites & good amount of traffic.

  15. Deepak Vijayan

Its a good company , with good customer support. But they are providing low RPMs

  16. Richard

We also are happy with media.net. I really wonder why other accounts are not getting paid and are getting $0 rpms.

  17. Anshul Mathur

    Nice article.
My AdSense account was banned 2 times, therefore I was looking for it alternative. I found that many people are talking about Media.net.
Hence I applied for it, and my account was approved. Currently all I can say is this is the best adsense alternative.

  18. Muhammad Tahir

Its true that Media.Net is an alternative of adsense but It is not better than adsense. When I use it, 1st two months of earning were outstanding But after some months they decreasing the cpm day by day. I complained the this issue many times but I didnt find any proper answer. Media.net works well only with good US,UK,Canada traffic. Finally its better but not like Adsense.

  19. Morris

I also tried media.net on my website and I am just waiting for my first ever payment. Media.net ads really go well with the Adsense ads also.

  20. Hasan

Media Dot Net isn’t that bad. I have been making good money with them for over an year. In an year I have made nearly $700 with Media Dot Net Ads.
