How To Write A Good Blog Comment: 8 Commenting Etiquettes You Should Know

Blogger Should Know

We all know that commenting on other blogs is very important. It’s not just about building links it’s more about building community and sharing your feedback. Everyone likes to get feedback on their articles or their views because every blogger tries to write quality articles thus it is important that you should also provide quality comments.

Writing a Blog comment is an art and along with SEO benefits, you can create great relations by writing great comments.

Though most of the time newbie Bloggers comment just to get links or get noticed and very few understand the importance of Blog commenting for creating real-life relations and driving decent traffic to their blog.

It’s important that we should have few commenting etiquettes while commenting on any article, no matter it’s on a blog or any social networking websites. If you have views to share about any topic, make sure you express your comments in a good way.

Here are a few things which you should remember for writing a good, and meaningful comments.

How To Give good comments on a Blog post

1. Avoid Keywords in Name Field

I believe blog commenting starts right from the name field, and if you want to look real and responsible, you should avoid putting keywords in the comment NAME FIELD. You putting keywords in that box is like carrying a placard that reads “SPAMMER” on your fore head.

The first thing that pisses most people off, especially blog owners is if you are leaving a comment without your real name (at least your first name will do), most bloggers hate keywords in the name field and I personally will send such comments to trash regardless of if its meaningful or not. Writing great Blog comments should start with you having your name in the NAME FIELD, this will give you an identity and people will have a kind of imagination of how real you are. So make sure you avoid the temptation of putting KEYWORDS in the NAME FIELD.

2. Ask or Add a New Information

A great comment must be beneficial to other commenter’s and the best way to add value to your comment is to ask a question or add new information. Asking a question will give room for interaction and the solution to your questions can be of help to other readers.

If you are adding a new information or point of view, it will also benefit other readers and you will probably get some new readers or followers via your comment. You cannot ask a question or add a new information and look like a SPAMMER or Bot, Why? Because “Bots/Spammers don’t ask question” and “Bots/Spammers have nothing of value to add to the post all they care about is the backlink.

3. Don’t drop Links

I believe the URL FIELD is enough for you to drop your link, dropping your links in the comment box is highly unprofessional and uncalled for. The comment box is meant for your comment body and you comment body only, so make sure you avoid putting links in the comment box else you will look like just another SPAMMER!

4. Maintain Online Persona:

Bloggers and readers might not see each other but they do have a bond between each other. People might not hear your feedbacks but the way you give your feedback via comment shows your personality in front of other. When you comment on a post, there are many other readers also who read your comment and start thinking what kind of person you are.

5. Respect others:

Whenever you are giving any feedback to the article make sure that you keep in mind that the article is written by a human being and he can make mistakes. Thus you always need to be polite while commenting. Even if you are giving a negative comment or positive, you have to use words which don’t seem to be rude. Your negative comment might hurt writer’s feelings or they might get de-motivated.

6. Make Valuable Comment:

Many times I came across comments which are submitted without reading the article properly. Before putting your insights it’s really important that you read and understand writer’s view clearly. Just commenting “Thank you” or “Nice article” does not make sense and visitors give such comments when they haven’t read the article or understood the article. Once you have read the article provide genuine comments not just for link building.

7. Make it succinct:

As described above, it is necessary to make a valuable comment. But while making a valuable comment, make sure that your comment should be to-the-point and brief. You should make your comment explicable so that others can know what you want to share but it should not too big that it looks like an article. Make a short and to the point comment.

8. Provide negative feedback in a proper manner:

If you think that writers have done few mistakes in the article, it might be typing mistake or sharing wrong information, then give your feedback politely instead of insulting. If you think the writer needs to improve somewhere, give the tips to him/her to improve. If possible mail the writer telling where he/she lacking and believe me a writer will be happy with your feedback and tips and try to improve.

If you have more tips to share feedback/comments in a better way, share it with us. We would love to learn from you.

Thanks for sharing. I would love to try this. Most of time i find the blogs with no follow in comment. I guess its all because of spam.Does no follow comment helps in ranking your website ? Do we have to give related niche comment or just we can put it away any link?

  • Hassan says:

I always love to read your articles, as you narrate the whole story in few words, without of dragging the core idea. Plus, Sir, you should also write about how one can find the blog which accepts or allow comments because there are many sites which do not like others to put links, whenever I tried to put the link in that way, the admin put it in the spam. So, please also write on this….!
