All of us wants to give more exposure to our blog, and there are various ways by which you can increase your blog exposure and also improve traffic. Submitting your blog to blog directories will help you in multiple ways:

  • Your blog will be exposed to a completely new audience.
  • Traffic from blog directories is highly targeted.
  • You will be generating a good number of backlinks to your blog.

I was experimenting with one niche site call “Moviesonhacking” which I’m working on, and I used blog directories to see the effect on search engine ranking. Here is the list of verified blog directories where you can submit your blog. This list is manually verified by @Sharatnik and thanks to him for creating such epic list of blog directories.

Verified Blog Directories to submit your blog:

I recommend you to first make a new notepad file and write few details like:

  • Name of the blog:
  • URL of the blog:
  • Feed URL of the blog
  • Description of the blog in 2-3 lines

As this will make the submission task easier. I have broken down the list into:

  • Websites where you can directly submit your blog.
  • Reciprocal link or badge required.
  • Websites to submit RSS feeds

I’m not a big fan of websites which requires a reciprocal link or ask you to add a badge, and I suggest the same with you. Apart from that this list is manually verified and you can start submitting your blog right now. You should also open this post (Exclusive list to submit your blog and make sure your blog is added to that list too.

  5. Sayed Shahnur

    Hi Harsh,

Thanks for the list. But i checked almost all the sites and I can surely tell you the following-

None of the sites you listed here is significant to the search engine. The Moz ranking is too poor and Alexa ranking is terrible.

Almost all the sites require a backlink??!! You should have mentioned that my friend. It wasted my time.

None of the sites got any diversified topics and neither that much popular. Lot of them even don’t load properly.

I will advice you test again and edit this post

    1. Harsh Agrawal

Thanks for letting us know Sayed. Will get the list checked again & update soon.

if you did not submit to any directory then it means these are not worthy what u say

    thank u

Thanks for this wonderful list, most of the list that I encountered while searching for blog directories, were full of discrepancies and dead links. This one is really best among all similar stuff.
    Good Job..

  11. James Lenfers

I am new to this and also old to it. So this is very helpful Harsh. I tossed it into my SEO optimization file to come back to it. Right now I am more concerned with getting the content on my site and all of the aspects working correctly, but I will get back to this. I am going to put your list up and credit the article on my site.

I am trying to setup a blog and author directory, but I think for it to really be effective in the long run it is going to take allot of work because it can’t just be a directory. It also has to be its own blog spot with its own content. Whether its blog first, directory second, or vice versa I think it has to be fairly balanced, specific to blogging both on its out and inbound links and once again have allot of its own proprietary blog content.

Pure directories just aren’t going to hold up or do anyone any good in the long run. But if they have a good Moz rating they can still be good for now. I think for a directory to really work for bloggers and blogging sites in the long run, the directory has to take that quality link clout and combine it with allot of its own blog and directory specific content.

And the auto submission ones that just take anything will be purely worthless and probably get a person downgraded. It is allot of work, but every link I accept or ask for is reviewed, and every one I put out is also hand reviewed. It could take years to build something like that up, but I think in the long run, that is what will hold up and be of use to anyone else.

In the meantime, a good link directory is still useful if it gets balanced with organic links.

    Thank you Mr. Harsh

    1. James Lenfers

Oh, just as a quick follow up Harsh. I did create my own article to this and I am in the process of posting it. I did use your list and credited you, this article, your primary domain and Sharat Nik.

I recommended people click back to this original article to get other insights and angle views to it and read these comments also.

This should be an interesting test on whether this helps, because my site is new and still building up content on it. I will use the list and see what impact his has. I have all the SEO management stuff in the world in place on it already. So I can pretty well track what effect this has on a new site versus a well established one like yours.

      1. James Lenfers

I am slowly grinding my way down this list and seeing if I can refine it a bit for bloggers by inserting more information as I go.

I Google PageRank the site and add that. Although not that good of a indicator, I figure Google PageRank is probably sufficient for Directory submissions, unless a person has better SEO software access like Moz.

I figure at least if it has a decent PageRank it indicates something. That Google at least hasn’t blocked it if nothing else and some indication of relative strength of the site. My site is relatively new, so it PageRanks as a 0 . Its not blocked by Google, but it has no indexing clout, so I really wouldn’t even recommend my own site or add it to this list until it does.

Then I add if its Free, if its a temporary link unless paid or reciprocated. Does it have a blog category to list in since we are talking about bloggers here. My site is a hybrid of a blog and directory, so I at least have a alternate category of directory to list in if blog category is not there.

And then finally, did I submit to it.

As I get responses and verifications of links, I will add that information.

As I dig up more directories and put this information into spreadsheet form I will update and made the expanded list easier to read and use.

Thank you again Harsh and Sharatnik for the list to get started off of.

I think this is a great thing and I think analyzed enough with PageRanking and maybe Moz spam checker latter on and verification your not submitting to a bunch of directories coming off the same IP’s this could be a great thing for bloggers to get a boost. With enough quality directory links and the trash weeded out, and highly expanded with every good directory we can find this could give a blog the boost it needs to help without the hurt of seriously crappy links.

Thanks for sharing Harsh. A comprehensive list you have here. Would get right to it ASAP

  13. Tonmoy Parves

    Hello Harash,

Thanks for these great listing. But i read few articles that Blog Directories now not working in 2015 for Google Ranking. So, are these sites safe to do directory? Can we do directory submission with these list still now ? Please share your feedback ..

Happy Blogging. Have a Good Week End

    1. John Michael

I would also like to know the answer from this question. I’m building backlinks now and I see the blog directories are the most easiest ones to get. Hoping for an answer soon 🙂

      1. Eloise Jennings

Check the Moz Spam Score of each directory. If a page has many outbound link and spam score > 4, don’t post your link to this.

  14. Deepika Sharma

Thanks a lot Harsh for this useful i was really for this because i hate adding badges and reciprocal links.

    1. Harsh Agrawal

True that @Deepika. Badges & reciprocal links sounds like “you scratch my back, and I will scratch yours”. It’s a nice way to get into link-exchange, which is literally hated by Google search algorithm.

  15. Maria Khan

At one stage in your article of 101 link building you are saying that (directory links are not that effective anymore) and many other bloggers also refer that directory submissions are not as good as they used to be in old seo days
so what is the point of submitting our blog in to these directories.. i checked .. some of them are not even working. kindly guide.
    Regards

    Hi Harsh,

    Thanks for Sharing this article.

But I am running a multi niche website (CatchUpdates.com) not a single niche website. While submitting my website to directories I find myself in dilemma as which category to choose and which ones to skip.

Could you please help me out.

    Thanks in Advance 🙂

    Regards,

  18. Mohamed Maideen

A huge list. I submitted to some directories, will I do follow backlinks? And harsh did you submitted your links in all directories?

  19. Chizy

What I love most about this post is the diligence of the author to tell us what to expect from each directory. I love the way we are told whether or not a badge or reciprocal link is required. Most other authors will just list out everything in an unclassified manner. Thumbs up Harsh Agrawal!

  20. Gene

Thanks for this comprehensive list. I’ve been trying to increase the visibility of by tropical destinations blog. Silly question; do the website links in this comment section get counted as backlinks?
