Why Blogging Is The Best Online Money Making Business?

If you are one of those “Shouter” who have read about Blogging, reading about my monthly income report, other bloggers income report, you must have made up your mind thinking

” Blogging is an easy way to make money online.”

And let me correct you on that statement Blogging is certainly one of the best ways to make money online, but not an easy way.

All the income reports you have seen from top bloggers around the globe, no one made that amount of money in one day. It took them years of time, patience, dedication and hard work to reach that freedom of life.  Now, let me get back to the point and explain why blogging is one of the best ways to make money and why everyone should try their hands on it.

If we look at the general mindset of people who are studying, they all dream of getting a good job in one of the MNC’s and get a handsome package. I live in India, and here a graduate usually gets a salary of $200-$2000, which may or may not be enough.

The way the recession is increasing globally, everyone is looking a way to earn passive income, and being online, we have an ample amount of opportunities to earn.

Blogging is one of the online business method, which I have tried, and it worked great for me, and with ShoutMeLoud, I try to empower those people who want to do something that no one else is not doing and earn from it.

Apart from blogging, there are many other ways to earn from being online like:

And so on.

Why blogging is easiest way to make money:

Let’s forget all the jargon we hear or read about blogging every day and look at blogging in the simple to understand manner:

  • You create a blog
  • You pick a topic that you are passionate about. Example: Technology, Gadgets, Cooking, Programming, Life Management, Fishing, Dog care, Baby care, etc..etc..
  • You write the detailed article about the topics. (Refer to quality content)
  • You sign up for AdSense and place the ad codes. (Refer to how to create AdSense account)
  • People come to your blog from the search, social networking sites, read your blog, click on your ads, and you start making money.

Blogging is as simple as this, and everyone started like this. There are many advance stuff associated with it like SEO, Social media optimization, but all this comes at later stage, when you get the initial kick of blogging and start making your first few dollars from it.

Now, let’s look at the investment of starting a business around blogging:

Whenever you plan to start a business (Online or offline), you need to make an initial investment.

You need to buy a place to do the business, you need to buy raw material to create the product, you need to market or advertise your business to get more clients.

Usually in this case investment is high, and when you have a full-time job, you will find it impossible to do all this thing. Now, let’s compare usual business necessity and investment with blogging:

A place for your business:

This is usually the platform you are using to blog. If you are a complete newbie, you have the platform like BlogSpot for blog creation, and you can also place Ads and do everything with it to learn the basics of blogging.

Once you cross that nascent stage, and you are ready to take your business to next level, you move to a self-hosted WordPress blog. All you need is a hosting space and domain name, which you can get for as low as $60/year. (Ex: Bluehost)

There are guides like this, which teaches you in the step by step to create your WordPress blog and further you can watch these free videos learn more about how to use the platform itself.

Raw material and final product:

This is where the beauty of blogging lies. In blogging, the raw material is your knowledge, and your final product is your blog post.

In this case, your initial investment is zero, and all you need to do is put your mind, energy, creativity on your writing, and write a compelling content, which is useful for others, and add values.

How hard it would be for a natural writer, or for people who know how to write anything.

Perfection may not come from day one, but if you do not try now, you will never be perfect!

Marketing and advertising:

As a professional blogger, I do make a huge investment on marketing and promotion of my blog, but this all started after three years of blogging.

We have platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram to market our blog for free and to get advertisements.

None the less, stuff like blog commenting, guest posting are some easiest way to market and brand your blog, and your investment remains zero.

All it requires is dedication, a good strategy, and time.

Time is now

Now, consider all the three essentials of a business with blogging and calculate the total investment.

If you are on a free platform (BlogSpot), you will be running a business with zero investment, and with self-serving ad platform (Google AdSense), you will be earning at least enough to pay many of your bills.

If you are technical and smart, you should rather invest in a self-hosted WordPress blog, which again doesn’t cost much to start a blog. Read this guide on how much money it takes to start a self-hosted WordPress blog.

If you are wondering how much money you can earn from AdSense and blogging, I could say there is no limit (Sky is the limit).

Here is my AdSense earning report after six years of blogging, which will give you a rough idea about earnings.

At the same time, I earned more from affiliate marketing (Around $80,410), and that too just from my blog and by writing articles that people like and share naturally.

I will talk more on this later, but first look at some of the reasons why you might want to quit blogging after starting one.

Few difficulties with Blogging as a business for newbies:

Above lines must have given you enough hope about making money, and all are true. But, as I mentioned above: making money from the blog is not going to be easy, and it will require lots of things.

Here I will outline some of the problems, which makes newbie quit blogging, or why they fail to make it big.

Your Purpose for blogging:

If you are blogging just for money, you will certainly fail. Think of money in blogging as an extra incentive.

The Real goal of blogging is to write something that you like. When it comes to the business aspect of blogging, we tend to stick to one topic (niche), and if you are blogging for money, you will soon lose the driving factor for blogging. Read my earlier write-up on the single topic blog vs multi-topic blog.

Consistency:

Blogging requires you to be consistent. When I started blogging while working for Convergys, my work timing was 8 P.M. to 5 A.M., and for first 5 months, I constantly worked 3-4 hours after full-time job to write something for my blog.

At times, I sacrificed my sleep for this, but again that is something which I enjoyed doing.

It doesn’t matter what situation you are in, you have to be consistent. Your readers are coming to your blog for your articles, and they will not care if you can’t blog because of your office issues, personal issues or any other factor.

If you are planning to earn from your blog, you have to be consistent. After all, money doesn’t come easy. Does it?

Your Basics and Business plan for your blog:

Back in 2008-2009, things were easier than what it is today. You write a blog post, and Google starts giving you traffic.

Things have changed a lot in the last 10 years, and if your basics are not clear, you might end up creating a blog with zero traffic.

You don’t have to learn a lot, but just get your basics right about blogging. Learn from other bloggers mistakes, and most important have a business plan for your blog.

It may be a part-time thing for you, but with 9 easy steps you can create a business plan in no-time.

Create your blogging future

If I would have been at your place, and planning to start a blog, here are few things I would do for the next few days:

Just to let you know, it took me almost 3-4 months to earn my first $ from my blog, and since then I never looked back. Blogging is not for everyone, but those who could do it, it’s an easy and least investment business to make handsome money.

  1. You know what, is not easy and you got to be consistent. I wake up in the morning to see what is there on shoutmeloud and matt walsh then I have the zeal to continue writing. And the truth is since I placed adsense code on my site I only made 0.16 only. But I wont stop

  2. Hey Harsh ! How are you ?

Really nice piece of information. Though you have covered each and every reason why Blogging is best online money making business.

But one thing I don’t agree with your tone here is – “money making”. Yes, it’s easy to make money easily from blogging when you build yourself as a popular authority in your niche but it’s not that easy as everyone thinks.

I would love to read it “Why Blogging is best online money earning business” rather than money making business. Because there lies much more efforts and some smart hard works to earn money blogging. When it comes to earning anything, it is result of hard work.

    Thanks !

  3. Yes Harsh Blogging is great way to make money online but many beginner bloggers have this mindset that they can just post about anything without caring much about SEO and they will be rewarded with traffic Like I have many friends who ask please tell me I also want to start a blog, they think that it’s very easy but on the flip side the story is different You have to be very consistent and dedicated and keep yourself focused no matter what and the point which you have mentioned that if you blog only for money then you will have a hard time because true passion which drives us not to quit blogging and if you don’t have passion or interest about the niche about which you are blogging then it will be very difficult

Cheers and keep posting such inspiring posts

Harsh, blogging is for dedicated hard workers, not for lazy ones.First off,we don’t expect earning money,by learning all skills of blogging, we get a clear way to earn money. Here,as you says, consistency is very important. And procrastination should not be our middle name. Any way thank you very much for this killer post.

One thing Harsh, you have used wrong pronoun under the “Marketing and advertising paragraph”in which the end of the first sentence says,” marketing and promotion of your blog”. I think it should be “my blog”.

Now a days there are so many other ways like CPA even you can earn huge amount from Amazon, Flipkart referral. I will say blogging is the best and easiest way to earn money online.

  15. Thanks for the post Harsh… But how much you support re-writing? Let’s say I am following your blog and I liked a post and I want to rewrite the same on my blog. I change the title, but main content is the same as yours, even though words dint match. I am not copy – pasting but rewriting. Will it affect on search engine rankings? How about the visitors flow. Because I see for an instance, how to install a plugin on WP? there are a lot of suggestions but still I want to write on the same on my blog. Does it make any sense? I think you got my point…
