Have you been looking for a good affiliate marketplace? Today, I will be introducing ShareASale, which is one popular affiliate marketplace that can help you earn extra income online.
In this tutorial, you will be learning everything about ShareASale & in the next 15 minutes, you will be all set to start earning from this popular Affiliate marketplace.
What is ShareASale & how does it work?
ShareASale was started in 2000 & it’s a popular service for marketers to launch an affiliate program for their product or services. At the time, bloggers & Affiliate marketers can find new Affiliate programs & join them. This tutorial is more inclined to bloggers to understand how it works & how to use ShareASale. Marketers who plan to launch an affiliate program, can join them & use their Welcome Kit & training webinars to educate themselves.
Before I share the guide, you should know about these 4 terms:
- Merchants: Merchants are business owners who set up their affiliate programs so that affiliates can join & drive more sales to their business in return for a fixed commission.
- Affiliate marketers: Users like me & you who join an affiliate program & promote it via blog, PPC, or other methods.
- Affiliate Software: This could be self-hosted or services like ShareASale, ClickBank, or CJ where the affiliate program is hosted. In this case, ShareASale is the affiliate software.
- Affiliate Marketplace: A marketplace where an affiliate can discover new opportunities & join an affiliate program. Similarly, a marketer gets to expose their affiliate program to affiliate marketers.
More or less, all other affiliate marketplaces models are the same with different UI & features. Since you have a clear understanding of basic terminology, let’s learn how to use the ShareASale affiliate marketplace.
- Head over to ShareASale site & Signup for a free account.
Click on move on to step 2.
To create an affiliate account on ShareASale, you need to have a website. Even if you plan to promote an affiliate deal using PPC, Google AdSense, or any other, you need to have a website.
If you don’t have one at this moment, you can follow this guide & set up your first website in the next 25 minutes.
Note: When you join any merchant they will see your primary website. If you enter any non-working website, chances are your application to join them will be rejected.
Enter the email address in step 3. The last step is to enter your personal details like name, Address & payment details. Don’t worry about Payment, as ShareASale offers payment via check, ACH, which you can configure later.
Once done, click on move to the next step. This is where you can configure your payment setting or skip it for you. Once you are inside your dashboard of the ShareASale account, you can edit or configure your payment settings. Once you are done signing up, open your email account & click on the confirmation link.
Once all the steps are done, it will take 1-2 days for approval of your application. You can come back here once your application is approved, or better learn how to use the ShareASale interface.

you have given good information about signing up with the network, at present I am only using Google Adsense to monetize my blog traffic, still I am new to the affiliate marketing world.
Hi ! Thanks for the great tips. I have a full-french blog (with french wordpress installation) here in Canada. Will I be able to generate french banners and ads ?
Also I did read a (outdated, but still) post about Shareasale denying payment for non-english content website. Do you have any hints on that ?
Thx a lot !
Hi Harsh,
I have read your previous articles on an affiliate program and all those were great. This one is also good and informative. But after reading this I am little bit confused on which program is better. After reading your last article, I made my choice on CJ but now I am thinking about share a sale. I have not many visits on my blog, so can you tell me which one would be better for me?
Hi, Harsh, Nice guide on sign up and get started with shareasale. I just want to know that cloaking shareasale links will violate their policies or terms. I will be very happy if you reply me.
@Vishwajeet
NO it won’t …I already mentioned about that in the above video.
I’ve heard of ShareASale but never tried. I prefer CJ, and I think I should try ShareASale also (for once, at least).
And thanks for the article Harsh, keep up the good work.

Your article will help me to achieve my goals thank you 🙂
Wonderful complete guide to start on shareasale. But can you tell me- is there any problem to put same kind of product from different affiliate marketplace? I thought clickbank is the best affiliate marketplace but after reading this post I’ve to think something different. Thanks for sharing the knowledge…
@Masud
It would be unwise for us to say any single marketplace as best. Clickbank is indeed a popular marketplace but the product quality there are not always great. I would recommend you to enroll yourself on various marketplace like CJ, ShareASale, ClickBank, JVZoo & see which one works the best for you.
Here is a guide for CJ: https://www.shoutmeloud.com/commission-junction-best-place-for-affiliate-marketer.html
Thanks for response. It is true that any single marketplace can’t be the best platform for affiliate marketers. Because there are different privacy policies, commission plan and so on. Can you tell me any skrill supported affiliate marketplace?
Indeed a very useful article! 🙂
Thank you for sharing.
@Vishal
