When it comes to making money from a blog, AdSense is one of the best blog monetization programs available.

I have already shared my AdSense earnings for the last five years, which will give you an idea of how much you can potentially earn from AdSense.

Creating an AdSense account and getting approval is not a particularly easy process, especially for a newbie blogger. The real problem emerges when Google bans your AdSense account!

A good solution is to start looking for some of the best Google AdSense alternatives.

The AdSense alternative ad networks mentioned below are not necessarily better than Google AdSense, but depending on your blog niche and site’s traffic, a few AdSense alternative programs (like Media.net or Monetag) might give you better earnings and results than AdSense.

You should be aware that Google AdSense is a contextual ad networking program while a few of the AdSense alternatives mentioned below are not contextual ad programs.

Also read:

We have already talked about why AdSense is the best advertisement program for bloggers, and we followed up with a post on Google AdSense in the budding blogger’s blog.

Getting Google AdSense approval is a dream for bloggers. But if you fail to get approval or get rejected for some reason, don’t despair, because this article will make you aware of many Google AdSense alternatives for you to use to earn money online.

(Before choosing an alternative to Google AdSense, however, check out what kind of traffic you are generating on your blog.)

7 Best Alternative to Google AdSense for Bloggers: 2024 Edition

Note: I am continually updating this list with all the new monetization methods that I use as an AdSense alternative. So bookmark this page and keep coming back to learn about more new blog monetization programs.

1. Monetag

  • Save

Monetag is one of the top performing ad networks and something I love because of their technological innovation. Apart from all usual ad types, recently they added web push notifications ad type.

Depending upon the kind of blog that you have, you can pick from various ad types offered by Monetag. Be it for your desktop site, mobile site, or for video content.  The minimum payout is $25 and it’s idle for every new and medium size blog with low or high traffic.

This is a good alternative to AdSense which pays really high.

2. AdThrive

  • Save

For anyone looking for a premium alternative to Google AdSense, AdThrive is an ideal choice. AdThrive is not your regular ad network, as they have a strict application process, and they require publishers to have minimum 100K monthly pageviews.

They also expect your traffic to be mostly from these countries:

  • United States
  • Canada
  • United Kingdom
  • Australia
  • New Zealand

If you feel your website is a good fit for AdThrive, you can apply for approval using the link below.

3. MediaVine

  • Save

Anyone looking for a high quality alternative to Google AdSense in 2024 should not miss Mediavine. Another high quality ad network for publishers who have quality traffic and quality content.

Watch this video to learn more about MediaVine:

To join MediaVine, your website must have:

  • 50,000 sessions in the previous 30 days (per Google Analytics)
  • Good standing with Google AdSense
  • Original content in any niche
  • Long-form and engaging content

4. Media.net

  • Save

Media.net is the best alternative to AdSense in terms of ad types.

Media.net is a contextual ad network by Yahoo! and Bing, and it offers high-paying ads. Moreover, the ad types involved are similar to AdSense, and if you have a quality blog, you are more likely to get Media.net approval in no time.

You can check out the review of Media.net here and create a free account here.

5. Setupad

  • Save

If your blog gets a monthly traffic of more than 100K+, look no further than Setupad.

Setupad is a monetization platform for publishers to increase their ad revenue to the maximum. Setupad has developed an in-house suite of programmatic monetization solutions–header bidding wrapper, header bidding SaaS solution, and SSP Adapter. Check out Setupad review to learn everything about it.

Setupad vs Google AdSense

The main difference between the Setupad service and Google AdSense is that Setupad uses header bidding technology to connect publishers with more than 15 buyers, including Google. Adding multiple premium buyers creates more competition for the same ad impression. This means that it pushes Google and other buyers to increase their prices. In the end, the publisher receives more ad revenue.

  • Save

With Setupad header bidding technology, publishers can maximize their ad revenue by a minimum of 30% if previously they have used Google AdSense.

Setupad has a variety of ad formats for desktop and mobile:

  • Save
  • Sticky and Anchor Ads
  • Responsive Ads
  • Video Ads
  • Native Ads
  • Interstitial Ads
  • App monetization (Q3 2020)

Setupad team of professionals helps publishers to decide and choose the right ad placements for each website.

The main goal is to avoid overcrowding the website with too many ads and make a personalized solution for each client.

By choosing Setupad, publishers can generate more money by having the same amount of traffic.

  • Publishers receive their first payment after 60 days. Further payments are made every 30 days if the minimum threshold of €100 is reached. Otherwise, Setupad adds these earnings to the next month.
  • It takes two to four weeks to see optimal results, though Setupad strongly suggests publishers to run a four-week test so they can add the majority of the SSPs.
  • Setupad reporting tool with real-time data is available for viewing at any time, which helps closely monitor publishers’ ad inventory. Real-time statistics combining all revenue into one report show bids (number of impressions, winning SSPs, average CPMs, etc.) of the website.
  • Each Setupaad clients’ have their own account manager, who guides them through the set-up process. Account Managers follow up on each of their clients’ ad revenue and inform regarding the latest updates.

6. Amazon Display Ads

Seeing an Amazon advertisement program listed as an “AdSense alternative” might be a little surprise for many, but in 2019 they are one of the most popular choices among bloggers for site monetization.

Until recently, it was only the Amazon Affiliate program, but with Amazon Native Shopping Ads & CPM based ads, they are a great choice for users who are looking for something other than AdSense.

In my opinion, the Amazon display program is ideal for those who have US & EU traffic. Native Ads, in particular, are a bit like affiliate marketing on steroids.

You can learn all about it here.

Sovrn Commerce is perfect for a blog that is linking out to a business or e-commerce site.

The Sovrn Commerce concept is quite different from all of the alternatives mentioned above because with Sovrn Commerce you earn money by making affiliate sales.

Sovrn Commerce works great when you have outgoing links to business or product pages such as a fashion store or Amazon.

Even if you don’t have outbound links but you are using money-related terms like Apple, iPhone, etc., Sovrn Commerce will automatically add links to these words, and you will end up making pretty decent money.

What’s best about Sovrn Commerce is that it’s incubated by Google and is a very SEO-friendly ad program.

Skimlinks is the best alternative to Viglink and it works in a similar manner.  Skimlinks converts your outbound links into affiliate links, and you earn money whenever a sale occurs.

It is possible that you could end up making ten times your existing earnings with Viglink and Skimlinks, as they pay for affiliate sales and not for clicks.

These are just some of the best and most popular alternatives to AdSense.

If your AdSense account is disabled, the best way to cover the lost AdSense earnings potential is by using a combination of two or more ad networks. (For example: using Monetag or Sovrn Commerce along with contextual ads.)

Which one of the above methods have you used and which ad program worked the best?  Tell us in the comments!

Chitika is no longer an alternative to adsense as they
now ban your blog if it has been also banned by adsense.
I think only reason anyone would use them is if they are
    banned by adsense.

  2. Latha Holla

    Hi Harsh,
Even my website was not approved by google adsense. After reading this article I went ahead with media net and got it approved. Later I got adsense approval too. Now I have both google and media net ads on my website. Median net revenue is half as compared to google though I have given more priority to google in terms of ad placement. Thanks a lot for the article.

How hard is to get approve by media.net? i have tried chitka and infolinks both doesn’t perform well for me.

  4. Ear

I’ve been using Media.net as an Adsense alternative for South Asian countries focused blogs and it’s performing quite well. However, for Western countries, I would still consider Adsense or Amazon.

Okay you said keys Word “High Paying” alternatives to Adsense.” Who’s paying, and revenue sharing? Am I paying out money to VigLink, or does VigLink pay me a portion? Do I need a website, or will my Social media accounts like Facebook or twitter will suffice?

  6. Muhammad Saif

I think there is no alternative for Google Adsense! I have already used infolink for 1 months. But it is very low paying ad media with disgusting ad. In India, most of the time Infolink only impression the facebook ads ! As a result, i dislike very much this admedia. Every blog master should, firstly try the Google Adsense to get high revenue from his blog. However, thanks for share an informative article 🙂

    1. Albert Pinto

You should try the highest paying alternatives like eLeavers, studads. I am fully satisfied with it.
I am getting timely payment. if you have good traffic, they have good payments for you.

  7. Rupam Chakma Babu

I tried chitika and many other adsense alternative but its pay very low if compared to adsense. So adsense is more better than other adnetwork.😄

  13. Am looking for an alternative to Google Adsense and so far it seems that Media.net is coming up as a very good alternative. Can affiliate programs be run simultaneously to Media.net?

    1. Harsh Agrawal

Yes, you can run affiliate programs along with media.net

  14. Emmanuel

    Hello Harsh,

Yours truly needs your help. But before then, I want to appreciate for the powerful information you have dishing out here to us (I in particular) at no course. I sincerely appreciate you from the depth of my heart. God bless you.

My question (which I will visit this blog post at least 10 times every day to know when it’s answered ) is this:

Can I register for MyThemeShop affiliate with my FREE MyThemeShop theme account?

I read your review on that yesterday but my question was not answered there.

I need to start monetizing my blog instantly. PR is not making me as much money as I need in a month.

    Thanks.

  15. Emmanuel

I have one challenge and that’s the fact that I give up so easily. Immediately AdSense didn’t approve me early this year, I lost interest in a blog that was already generating over 10k page views in a day.

God help me to go back to that blog.

    1. Harsh Agrawal

      Hey Ashish,

I don’t think Adsense approves Whatsapp status blog. You need to apply for some other ad networks.

  19. Zero Degree

All are the best without media net. I ran 2 months media net but they don’t gave me proper revenue. By the way, thank your this awesome content.

  20. potor
