A 30-Minute Daily Marketing Routine To Drive More Traffic & Customers

With all the wisdom bombs shared by seasoned marketers from their secret marketing bag o’ tricks, you can’t help but feel undecided as to which marketing advice to follow.

There’s just too much of it. (Way too much!)

The fact that your hands are tied because of your 9-5 job isn’t helping you decide either. Due to the limited time you have, you can’t give their marketing tips a closer look to figure out which ones would fit your circumstances.

Friends, if you’re feeling utterly confused on which marketing tips you should follow to grow your blog traffic and get more clients, then I’m glad that you’re here right now. I will share with you a 30-minute marketing plan/routine that you can use daily to help you get more traffic and clients.

Let’s hop right in.

Step 1. Answer relevant questions in Quora.com. [15 minutes]

You might be wondering:

  • Of all the sites I can go to, why Quora.com?

I’m advocating Quora for three very important reasons:

1. The site has close to 400 million monthly visitors.

Here’s what you’ll find if you run the site through SimilarWeb:

SimilarWeb
  • Save

Not only that, most of Quora.com’s traffic comes from search engines.

Quora.com’s traffic
  • Save

Out of all the traffic sources, search engines are often the best since they have longevity. Not only that, but the web pages that rank in the SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages) often have the potential to get hundreds of monthly traffic — even hundreds of thousands.

Now that we’ve established how the site has millions of monthly traffic; what does all of this mean to you?

It simply means that people are going to the site to find answers. And by “people,” you can bet your horses that your prospective clients are some of those who visit the site to get their problems solved.

Since one of digital marketing’s ironclad rules is to hang out where your prospective clients are hanging out, then you ought to be on Quora.

2. Quora’s user base is remarkably active.

You’ll be amazed at how active and helpful Quora’s community is. While other sites also get millions of monthly visitors, most of their visitors are just spectators — they often don’t interact with other users.

For example, if you try commenting on one of Forbes.com’s articles, you’ll soon find out how your comment is only going to be ignored. In most cases, no one’s going to reply to your comment no matter how long and value-packed it is.

Such is not the case with Quora. When you add a question (or an answer), in most cases, others will comment on or interact with it.

3. You can solidify your brand as an expert.

Can you imagine what would happen if your prospective client posted a question, and you ended up answering them with such completeness and value that they’d be mindblown at how helpful your tips were?

That can establish a strong relationship with them. That right there can lead to them following your blog or them straight up buying your services.

The more you add value-packed answers to the questions posted on the site, the more others will seek you for your advice (or services).

Important points to remember when using Quora:

Now that I’ve shared the reasons why you should use Quora, I hope that by now you are convinced that the platform is one of the best places to market your services.

At this point, I want to share with you the crucial points you need to remember when using the platform. You following these points can spell the difference between you getting returns out of your daily efforts or not.

That being said, whatever you do, don’t ignore these tips.

-Be selective when answering questions.

Just because I told you to use Quora, doesn’t mean you should answer ALL the questions that you can answer.

That just doesn’t make sense.

You need to answer questions that relate to the kind of blog or business that you’re running.

For example, if your blog is all about digital marketing, there’s no point in you answering questions about dating; getting people who are interested in dating to visit your blog will not be helpful.

You need to answer questions that are related to digital marketing. That way, the people who read your answers are like-minded and relevant to your niche.

-Put yourself in the shoes of your customers.

Here’s the thing: When you answer questions that are relevant to your niche, that can lead to you getting more traffic.

However, if you’re looking to get more customers (and not just website visitors), then you need to answer the questions that your prospective customers are asking. That way, if they’re happy with your answer, then the chances of them reaching out to you for your services drastically increases.

Here’s an example:

Instead of you trying to answer the question, “What is digital marketing?”, you’d have a better chance of landing more clients if you search (and answer) the question, “How can I market my business online?

As you’ve observed, both questions are relevant to your niche (digital marketing). However, the person asking the first question is probably just interested to find out about what digital marketing is or how it works. The second person, on the other hand, looks like they need help marketing their business online — something that your services can address.

Check out what comes up on Quora’s search results for the second question:

-Look for “high traffic” questions.

Not all questions are created equal. Some questions have more “Follows”, while others barely have any.

It would be better for you to answer the questions with the most number of “Follows” first, then answer the others second.

Here’s where you’ll find the question’s number of Follows:

-Keep your readers hanging.

The sad reality is, some of Quora’s users will only read your answers within the platform; after which, they will click away. Of course, when that happens, your website’s readership won’t increase at all.

And so the question becomes:

  • “How can I entice Quora’s users to visit my blog?”

Here’s a simple solution that I found to be quite effective:

  • Keep your readers hanging.

I first answer their questions, then I later add an element of mystery by telling them that I also used another solution that ended up getting me better results than the solution that I shared with them.

I then proceed by saying that I created a case study or wrote an article about it on my blog. And that if they’d like to read about it, then they can click the link that I added in my answer (which routes them to my blog’s content).

Wrapping things up…

When using this strategy, you need to set a timer so that you won’t exceed more than 15 minutes on the platform.

I want to warn you right now that this strategy can be quite addictive. Quora can be a productivity black hole if you aren’t keeping track of your time.

I only spend 15 minutes on the platform, and then proceed to my next marketing strategy.

2. Interview Influencers [15 minutes]

This strategy is one of my favorites because there are tons of benefits to be had when it is executed properly.

These are some of the benefits that I’m referring to:

  • Grow your blog’s traffic.
  • Get free PR.
  • Build your connections.
  • Get more clients.
  • Get free content on your site.
  • Be seen as an influencer.
  • Improve your website’s SEO through link building.
  • And more…

Here’s how the strategy looks from a 30,000 ft perspective:

Step 1: Compile a list of influencers in your industry.

Step 2: Send email messages daily to the influencers telling them that you’d like to interview them.

Step 3: Once they say “Yes,” send them your carefully crafted interview questions.

Step 4: After they send back your questionnaire with their answers, publish the interview on your blog.

Step 5: Share the live URL of the interview to the influencer.

Step 6: Ask them to share the interview via their social media profiles or link to it through their blogs.

Step 7: Pitch your services strategically.

The strategy is pretty self-explanatory, isn’t it?

Looking at each step, I’m sure you can see how you can gain the benefits that I listed above.

After all, when influencers are sharing your posts with their community, that means your web page is exposed to thousands of online content consumers since th0se influencers often have thousands of followers.

Wrapping things up…

As you can probably imagine, there’s no way you can do all the steps listed above in just 15 minutes.

That’s OK; you’re not supposed to.

You can do:

  • Step 1 on Monday.
  • Step 2 on Tuesday and Wednesday.
  • Steps 3 to 7 on Thursday and Friday.

If you follow this workflow, you won’t find executing this strategy to be overwhelming. More than that, it’ll only take you less than 15 minutes daily to do your tasks.

Quick note: If you don’t have the budget to have someone write your articles, then you can write your own articles on weekends. That way, you’ll still have unique articles published on your blog, and not just interviews.

Is there a marketing routine that you’re following daily? If you answered “yes,” share it with me in the comments section below. I’d love to hear what things you’re doing to increase your readership! See you in the comments!

    Hi Jens,

Smart ideas with action steps. I’ve not had much luck with Quora – yet. But I’ll get there.

Your 2nd tip, interviewing influencers is also a smart way to expose our message to people who’re already following someone they know, like & trust.

Another method for the interview content, rather than asking for labor intensive written responses, we could record the influencers answers, to our pre-submitted questions, via a phone or skype call. Anyway, I’d leave the interview methodology up to the convenience of the interviewee. Thanks,
    Edward

You are quite right, the methodology of the interview can be done in whichever way is most convenient for involved parties!

      Cheers,
      Jens

The best part of this article I found regarding Quora. One can easily share their knowledge using this platform.People look for helpful information and they share their problem in different forums. Now before adding any URL (I mean any blog link) one should make sure that the landing page would really help them. However, I must say making any sale or getting customers both are default output when your main motto is to help someone. Thanks

    1. Jens Lundgren

I’m glad you liked the article! You make a good point. Providing genuinely helpful advice and help to people is a great way to make people aware of your brand, website or content,, which will ultimately lead to sales – especially if you have a strong and well-thought-out funnel set up!

      Cheers,
      Jens

  16. Nischay Jain

Quora can be a great way to drive more traffic to our blog if we properly do all the points mentioned above. This is a very useful blog post for newbie blogger who haven’t tried their hands with leveraging quora in their marketing strategy.

Great post! I really enjoyed it.

    1. Jens Lundgren

Thanks Nischay, hope it will help you get some traffic for your blog! 🙂

  17. John

    Good advice Jens.

As you show Quora gets a lot of traffic including search engine traffic that can last a long time and that is something to bear in mind when answering questions. What I like about your method is that you allot 30 minutes a day to giving answers.

I saw a post on a big blog recently where it was recommended to do this in 5-10 minutes a day! Impossible unless you give short spammy answers which will not get the reader to click on any link you provide which was the reason for the exercise in the first place. You also have to be careful with placing links in your answer as it may upset the moderators. Just leave one discreet link. You can also put links in your Profile on Quora and use this to refer readers to at the end of your answer.

Finally, it is obvious that the site is profitable as you see regular answers from some big names in internet marketing. These guys know where the traffic is!

    1. Jens Lundgren

      Thanks John!

Indeed, numbers don’t lie. The potential in Quora is definitely huge. I would also agree that it would be very hard to find quality opportunities and provide useful answers with only 5-10 minutes a day. And if you can’t manage to provide quality answers your efforts will likely be, as you correctly point out, completely ignored, moderated away, or annoy people – which is obviously not a great marketing strategy. 🙂

And you are right, it is hardly a coincidence that the biggest names in the industry regularly appear on Quora!

      Cheers,
      Jens
