WordPress ping list are very useful to extend your blog reach to major search engines. We all know that blog has a big advantage over static/dynamic sites in the form of Ping. If you are not aware of pinging feature of
WordPress, then here are my 2 cents for you.
When ever you publish, edit or modify a post, WordPress sends ping to all the Ping services which is listed under your ping update service. So this way, ping services get notified about new post and search engine will quickly index them.
Now by default WordPress notifies all major ping services but we can always extend our limit by pinging more services by adding them manually.
Over the time, I have compiled a list of ping services for WordPress, which will help you to ping more services. Here is list of my working WordPress ping list:

Here is a quick guide for newbie to add these pink update services.
How to add or update WordPress ping list:
Login to your WordPress dashboard. Go to Writing under settings tab and scroll down to update services and add all the above ping list. Here is a screenshot for quick understanding:
Though, pinging is useful but excessive pinging is bad and WordPress has one major issue with pinging. Do you know, when ever you edit your old blog post or make any changes to any post, WordPress ping that post again. It’s useful when you are making major change, but if you are making some minor change to many blog posts, it’s bad for your blog and excessive pinging lead to ping spam. To control this feature of WordPress, you can use plugin like Cbnet Ping optimizer which controls the excessive pinging. It pings the blog post when you publish a new post. Update: With WordPress 3.5, you don’t need any Ping Optimizer plugin.
Well, controlling WordPress ping update services is just first step to SEO and there are many things which you need to do to SEO optimization of your blog. You can refer to my WordPress guide for more comprehensive and detailed post on WordPress.

Thanks Suresh for sharing another awesome list
the list is recommended by wordpress official community itself
and if pinging won’t works resubmission in the google webmaster works well and reindex the entire sitemaps
Thanks a lot for the share Harsh.. We all really owe you a lot for this.
Sushen may I know which part you failed to understand and I will try to explain that part more.
harsh i wanted to say that how do we decide this list and what was the main purpose of ping.
i have heard about this first time.
Above mentioned ping list notifies different search engine when your new post goes live and thus major search engine indexes it quickly.
I also use http://www.blogbuzzer.com for manually pinging. But it doesn’t cover so many links.
I used to use Pingdom but Blogbuzzer is new to me. Thanks for adding another resource to it.
Hey that is nice list of pinging services
.but i read on some blog that using to many ping services can hampered your blog performance.
It happens only when you publish the post as it has to ping all the service.. But till now I have not seen any significant impact.
I have to manually remove the numbers at the beginning of each address. Here is the list if anyone need to add them:

Thanks Tuan for another great Ping list
hey,
this is too good. Thanx a lot for sharing this list.
Just wondering to know, when we publish a post and wordpress pings these services – is there a way to know and see which ones have been pinged succesfully and which ones not. I mean, is there any log within wordpress where we can find out this.
Thanx anyways for the list.

That’s an awful lot of ping sites Harsh
Anyway, I did get what I wanted most from this post and that was that excessive pinging is bad for your SEO. Is there anyway we can turn off the WP functionality without having to install a plugin? I mean only for revisions. That would be great.
I’m not sure if we can stop post pinging for editing old post without any plugin. For now You can use plugin like maxblogpress ping optimizer or similar plugin.
We can use cbnet ping otimizer. It’s similar to MBP ping optimizer and no need to registration.
I agree, I also use cbnet ping optimizer to avoid email listing of maxblogpress.
In fact, cBnet is available to install inside the dashboard of our blogs.
This way, somehow I feel more sure about a plugin which is listed in wordpress plugins database directly from wordpress.org website.
Though I am sure MBP plugin is also great.
i wna ask this ping list is only for getting indexed by google quickly ? is there any seo benefit too ? i usually write a post and do 3 bookmarks and it gets indexed in 5-10 min then do i need to ping all this services ?
Hey guys,
I am using the following list on my blog:

I have 2 questions:
1. Can you please let me know, whether I should start using the list shared by Harsh and how will it impact my blog’s performance? Kindly let me know both positive and negative side of it.
2. Should I use any plugin along after adding the list?
Karan Mehta
MBP is must else it may harm blog by too much pinging.
Lovely compilation Harsh. While going through the comments I could find much more resources. Your one article brought much more ping sources.
Thanks for sharing these ping list. I will add them for my wordpress blog. Are all ping URLs are working? Have you tested?
Hey one question,
by default in wordpress
we have
below to ping
http://rpc.pingomatic.com/
which in return pings many services as far as my knowlegde , then wont the list u gave when added all those services once again ?
wht should i do ?
should i remove pingomatic from the list ?
are use pingomatic only instead of ur long list ?
Add both , in order to index sooner you need a good ping list
I never updated the list of my ping but today i updated this from here given all the ping list…should i use all the ping list? or just some ?
I have used these valuable resources to enable pinging of my blog posts. But i have a query. I am using cbnetpo ping optimizer and in configuration area, it asks me how to stop excessive pinging.. it shows me an option ping once every 15 minutes and something like that. How and when should we ping posts? kindly give me an answer!
Hey to all, i’ve just added the Harsh ping list but when i arrived the too much pinging section here i’ve read that cbnet Ping Optimizer hasn’t been updated in over 2 years. It may no longer be maintained or supported and may have compatibility issues when used with more recent versions of WordPress. So what you suggest and which plug in do you suggest now, i cant see the published date on this post, nether the date of comments so I had to write this for up to date tip about the same.
Cheers to all
Hey Harsh , here is quick update for your article that now there is no need of CBNET ping optimizer plugin as wordpress have now solved the re pinging issue. Even when i installed the plugin , the author of CbNet himself described the same. Kindly update and thanks for pinging list
Thanks for the update Navneet. I will check about this and update the article accordingly.
Are you Sure Navneet? because I have already one plugin installed for this. i will remove it. also i read above article once again Harsh has suggested the same so guys what do you say ?
@Vivek
Yes, now you can remove any such plugin (Cbnet ping optimizer, MaxbLogPress ping optimizer), as you don’t need them in WordPress3.5+.
He Harsh,
Thanks for the list. I have been looking for this and I’m glad I found it on your blog. I’m copying the list rightaway
Thanks a lot Harsh. But what would you recommend? Use that full list or put a limit on the pinging services?
I’ve collected the lists from some descent bloggers and came up with this list.

Hi Harsh,
If I use this ping list on my wordpress, should I enable or disable the “Pingshot” on Feedburner?
