Did you know that 43% of all the websites in the world are powered by WordPress?
It’s true, but the way we all use WordPress is different.
To give you some perspective, many of us might use only 10 plugins while some use more than 30-40 plugins on their WordPress sites.
Many of us use WordPress to run a blog, many use it to run an e-commerce portal, many use it to run a job portal, and many others do many other things with this versatile platform.
In my one decade of experience with WordPress, I have used numerous hosting companies. This has given me a unique experience as I now know the in’s and out’s of the most popular web hosting services for WordPress.
Here’s a question:
Have you ever seen a web hosting company that didn’t claim they were the best?
Regardless of what the company says, hosting quality is usually known when we start using the service.
As our usage and traffic grow over time, we get to know the full potential of our hosting company. Some of them are very powerful and sustain our website’s growth, while others start giving errors like “500 internal server error” and “error connecting to database”.
As long as your existing hosting company runs your WordPress site smoothly, you don’t have to worry about anything. However, when the hosting cannot sustain the growth of your increasing traffic or memory requirements, it’s a wise decision to move your WordPress-powered site to a new host.
But for anyone not tech-minded, transferring a WordPress site from an old host to a new host becomes a real challenge.

If you are stuck with your crappy hosting company because you find it challenging to transfer your WordPress site from the old host to the new one, you don’t have to worry. There are a few high-quality WordPress hosts that offer free migration of your site.
This is very helpful for non-tech users to leave their crappy hosting behind and move to a better hosting environment.
Here, I’m listing a few hand-picked, WordPress-specialized companies that will move your site from your old host to them for free.
The best thing about letting these hosting professionals migrate is they do all the testing for you, and you won’t see any downtime. This is useful for a busy site or for people like me who don’t like to see a website going down.
Here is a quick rundown of the sites listed in this post:
WordPress Hosting Companies That Offer Free WordPress Host Migration Services
1. Kinsta
Kinsta is a managed WordPress host, and unlike the above two, this is one of the highest-priced hosting packages.
They start at $30 and are suitable for any kind of WordPress site that needs a high-quality hosting environment to grow.
At present, ShoutMeLoud is hosted on Kinsta and has been hosted here for the past 47 months. I can personally vouch for them. You can read my detailed review of Kinsta hosting to learn what they offer.
Kinsta offers free website migration, and depending upon the plan you want, they will migrate at least one site for you.
If you want to move more sites than what’s included in your plan, you can order more migrations by paying a fee.
To request either a free or paid migration of a website, you need to log in to your Kinsta account dashboard and click on Migrations.
Once they receive your migration request, they will schedule a time within 24-48 hours and perform the migration for you.
Again, if you need it done ASAP, just ask their customer support team.
2. HostArmada
Many of you might not have heard of HostArmada, a new hosting company from the USA. This hosting company offers 9 data centers, a free domain name, competitive pricing, and free website transfer.
Depending upon the package you choose, you could get 1 website, 3 website, and 5 website transfers.
Package | Number of free transfers (Websites) |
Start Dock | 1 |
Web Warp | 3 |
Speed Reaper | 5 |
I’m yet to write a detailed review of HostArmada, but you can read my comparison post on Bluehost Vs. HostArmada to learn more about it. Overall, HostArmada is a reliable hosting company that offers both NGINX and Litespeed web-server. Features like free domain name, up to 75% discount, and free website transfer make it one of the best hosting for blogs and small business websites.
3. Nestify (Unlimited free website migration)
Nestify is the newest entrant in this list that offers unlimited hosting and free website migration. What’s interesting about Nestify is your sites will enjoy the quality server of Amazon AWS, and Nestify will take care of all the management parts.
By the end of the day, you will have a high-speed WordPress site running on Amazon AWS using the Nestify interface, The pricing of Nestify is reasonable, and they do have multiple plans which cater to websites of different sizes.
At the time of compiling this list, Nestify offers –
- Unlimited website migration
- Free speed and security audit
Nestify has been around for many years, constantly adding new features to give an edge to existing customers. As they have teams in USA and India, they can offer highly competitive pricing and out-of-the-box white glove support.
4. SiteGround
SiteGround tops this list of hosting companies that will migrate your site for free.
Why? Because SiteGround is one of the most reputed web hosting companies out there, and they offer all the latest cutting-edge tech to their users.
Some of the benefits that you get with SiteGround:
- Free SSL certificate
- In-house caching mechanism
- Latest PHP
- Excellent customer support
In the past, I have used their free hosting migration service to move my WordPress site from HostGator.
5. InMotion Hosting
InMotion Hosting is a great budget hosting company based out of Los Angeles. They are a perfect host for those users who are looking to get started on a budget.
With InMotion Hosting, website transfers consisting of 3 or fewer cPanel accounts, databases, and/or websites are free. To take the help of this free site migration feature of InMotion Hosting, you need to log in to your account management panel (dashboard) and click on Website Transfer Request to raise a ticket.
Here is how the form looks:
After submitting the form, you can check the status of your website transfer request directly from the InMotion Hosting dashboard (account management panel).
In case your hosting expires in a day or two and you need to migrate ASAP, you should talk to their sales team using the live chat before buying their hosting. You can mention your situation and in a majority of cases, they will ensure your site gets migrated ASAP. In fact, this is the same trick you can apply with any of the listed hosting companies here to ensure a quick transfer of your website.
Other Hosting Companies That Offer Free Migrations
- HostGator: HostGator is a popular web hosting company that offers free migration of one site. Make sure your primary domain name is the site you want to migrate to. Follow this tutorial to learn how to request free website migration on HostGator.
- Flywheel: Flywheel is a managed WordPress host that offers unlimited website migrations. Even though they are a fantastic hosting company, I find their pricing to be higher in comparison to similar hosts.
- A2Hosting: A2Hosting offers an SSD drive and a free SSL using LetsEncrypt. They also offer free migration of your WordPress site. Read A2 Hosting review to learn more.
If you suffer from website downtime issues, internal server errors, and/or database connectivity issues, you should consider moving your website ASAP. As mentioned earlier, these WordPress website hosting transfers are usually done with zero downtime, and you don’t have to do much apart from providing your old hosting information.
Many bloggers and digital marketers are often afraid to move their site to a new host because of the hassle. These non-techy people, will find it hard to migrate and troubleshoot to ensure everything works smoothly on their new host.
But thanks to a handful of top WordPress hosting companies that offer free website migration, we can now put all of our focus on what it is we do best – running our websites.

Hello Harsh,
Thanks for grouping up information on hosting service provider in one post. I like the review which you have given for kinsta, and i prefer to try it.
Hello Harsh ,
I must say this post is for me .
Actually i have my site on some show indian tv and i recently started getting heavy traffic daily like 100k and my site got down . From morning to evening it’s okay but at night it got crashed and showed me “error establishing in database .
I checked your this post and i am going to migrate it on kinsta as it is good and best i think so .
Please suggest me so .
Thanks
Excellent post, thanks for sharing. Plugins are indeed excellent tools to get various tasks done, a lot faster. Fully agree that WordPress with Shared Hosting is a great way to go, my Favorite is Blue-Host but I have worked with Host Gator some time ago. Have a lovely weekend.
Hi,
Awesome post! I am a new blogger from India and wants to buy hosting from site ground but I can pay via debit card only, please tell me whether they accept debit cards or not?
Thanks a lot, harsh!
My blog is currently hosted on Bluehost India. I thought that they were similar to the Bluehost USA, but they aren’t.
I don’t like their service.
I’ve been thinking to migrate from my current host and here comes your article.
Shall I go for Siteground? or Bluehost US?
Bluehost US
Cloudways is also excellent. It is a very interesting wordpress managed hosting service. Hosting price starting at $ 7 / month.
In addition migration is free. I use it for 6 months and I am satisfied
Awesome Sum up!
Thanks for sharing. I don’t see any point for companies to charge a fee for migration. I think it should be fee welcoming acquisitions of new customers from other companies.
This post is awesome because at some point, it’s hard to cover a migration fee on top of the service fee. Thanks again for sharing and All the best for you and team!
Hey Harsh,
I personally shifted from Go daddy hosting to MissHosting . Its been a year. I like their support they are very quick on addressing your problem.
If you want to try cheap and affordable hosting as a starter with great support and up time I recommend MissHosting. I have not had any problems with them.
Other than that, Hostagator is also a good option 🙂
Thanks
I personally like Siteground web hosting for WordPress. But Bluehost is not bad.
On the other hand, Kinsta hosting is so much expensive.
I have been using a very popular hosting company for a long time. It would be very hard for me to move, and I’ve gotten used to all of their quirks. But when I do have to call customer service, they only help me come up with my own new ideas, they never really fix anything anymore. Last time I asked if they had any job openings.
I have used hosting from hostgator for five year but i have not face the probleme of my client’s website.
SiteGround is always good and recommended.
Actually, migrating site is not so tough, if someone have a lil bit technical knowledge. I did it by myself for several tines. It is exciting.
Thank you for sharing your experience. As far as website migration is concerned it’s good offer for non-tech persons. In my 10 years experience I prefer Siteground and Hostgator both never disappointed me and my clients as well.
Thanks Harsh. As always its great content! Appreciate.
I have used hosting from SiteGround for one of my client’s website and experienced the great service from them. They charge you mostly extra from other Indian domain hosting services but they provide 99.9% uptime with many other offers. Thanks.
hey harsh, amazing article.
I was too having the same issue “error connecting to database” with my website!
thanks for sharing this information, it is really helpful article for me.
Hostingraja also provides free host transfer.
But the customer service of hosting raja is very very bad. I have been with them past 3-4 years and made a change then.
Thanks for your great list Harsh Agarwal. There is one more hosting company like CloudWays. This is a great cloud hosting company best option for WordPress websites and offers many features like free migration services, free SSL certificates, and 99.9% update time. Especially their customer support is excellent.
If possible, please include Cloudways in your list.
Thanks!
Hello Harsh,
Site migration is quite a hefty task for bloggers especially if it is WordPress. I am also have faced this issue. I have transferred my site two times to various web hosting companies. Siteground is one of the best web hosting providers for newbie bloggers. Their customer services are also very good. Some of my clients have their sites hosted on Siteground. Thanks for this great and detailed post.
Enjoy your day 🙂
Vishwajeet
