Bluehost.com Vs Bluehost India: Should You Prefer it Over Bluehost U.S.?

48Shares

March 2021 Update: Bluehost India is now an Indian replica of Bluehost.com. So, your choice is simpler now. If your target audience is in India, you should pick Bluehost India (Indian servers), and if your target audience is in USA, you should pick Bluehost.com ( U.S. based servers)

Should you buy hosting from Bluehost India Or Bluehost.com.?

They are promoting Indian servers for better speed. Does Bluehost Indian hosting provide the same quality of service as the U.S. hosting provide?

Bluehost India is the latest addition from EIG group to offer a localized hosting experience to Indian users.

  • Is Bluehost India as good as Bluehost U.S.?
  • Should You buy hosting from Bluehost India?
  • Bluehost India offers a server in the U.S., Is it better to buy from them?

These are some of the many questions many readers have asked in the ShoutMeLoud forum. While hosting is the most crucial decision of starting your blog or online business and it’s important for you to take this decision carefully.

By the end of this post, you would know: Should you buy hosting from Bluehost India or not?

Why Bluehost India doesn’t fit our quality check?

Bluehost U.S. is a popular web-hosting company for WordPress & well known for innovating CPU throttling technology in the shared hosting. They also offer free SSL certificate & an easy to use dashboard for managing WordPress. Later in 2010, EIG acquired Bluehost company.

EIG group also owns numerous hosting companies like Hostgator, ASmallOrange, Resellerclub & many more.

It would be wrong to say that EIG makes the technology decision to hamper the quality of their acquired hosting, rather they provide infrastructure & resources which helps these small hosting companies to grow big.

In 2020, Bluehost relaunched Bluehost India, and this time it offers all the same features as Bluehost.com, and the quality of hosting is the same.

I was expecting it to be an Indian version of Bluehost U.S., where we get the same cPanel (Bluehost customized dashboard), Server quality, CPU throttling technology & other services.

EIG acquired Resellerclub back in February 2014 to expand its business to India. What could be better than using the existing brand value to sell something? The only thing which EIG missed here is, Bluehost U.S. & Hostgator U.S. are popular because of the hosting & service quality along with the offering.

With Bluehost India, you will find the same offering as Bluehost.com plus some added advantages such as:

  • Indian servers: If your target audience are from India, hosting your website in Indian server will make it load faster, and give a better user experience. This is also good for SEO. You should consider Bluehost.com (offers US servers), only when your target audience is not from India, and is in USA or closer to USA.
  • Local support: Like it or not, talking to a local guy for support makes a lot of difference. With Bluehost India hosting, you will be talking to an Indian customer support, which will be a time saver.
  • Easy taxation: When you buy hosting from India, your taxes including GST are simpler. You don’t need to pay reverse GST which is something you need to pay when buying services from outside India.

I even purchased one of the hosting packages to see what’s all the buzz is about? And Bluehost India hosting seems to be as promising and fast as Bluehost USA.

Pricing Of Bluehost India server:

Many new users compare hosting on the pricing difference (Even if it’s negligible) which is not the right factor for deciding on your hosting options. Pricing on Bluehost India is certainly cheaper than Bluehost U.S

Should you buy hosting from Bluehost India?

At the time of writing, there is no substantial difference in terms of quality between Bluehost.com and Bluehost India. You can pick either based on your requirement. I reiterate myself, if your target audience is in India, you should buy hosting from Bluehost India, and if your target audience is in USA, buy hosting from Bluehost.com

For the learning purpose, you can check out both the sites of Bluehost (Indian & U.S. version) & compare the features & price yourself.

Have you or any of your friend used Bluehost India? How was the experience? Share your viewpoints in the comment section below.

What is the need of Web hosting?

A web-hosting is where your websites files, images are stored, and users around the world is able to access it.

Is Bluehost India a secure hosting?

Yes, Bluehost India is a secure hosting, which applies latest anti-hacking techniques to prevent your website from hacking. However, you should always take a timely backup of your website. Read my earlier guide on how to make WordPress secure to dwell deep into this topic.

Do you have to pay immediately after buying a hosting or can I pay later?

Yes, you need to pay for hosting for your hosting account to be activated. Bluehost let you pay for 12 months, 24 months and 36 months. Unfortunately, there is no EMI option available on Bluehost India at this time.

So how do we make payments to Bluehots US, their pricing are in US dollars?

    1. Harsh Agrawal

You can use credit card for doing the payment

  2. Amrit

    Hi Harsh,
I am going through this article about web-hosting. I have found siteground.com gives also quiet good hosting option.
For 1 year, I can get a startup package with a domain with $62 and I can have a free SSL with 10 GB SSD storage option, unlimited DBs.
Its quite good compared to GoDaddy starter package.
What’s your opinion? Is the bluehost US have better features than siteground. I have checked the starter package ($60).
How is there support for Indian customer?

    1. Harsh Agrawal

      @Amrit
I like Bluehost & Siteground both. However, there is one major difference. The major difference is unlimited & limited resources. SiteGround have cap on CPU usage which is not the same with Bluehost. So go for Bluehost USA.

  4. Swapnil Kharche

BlueHost is a nice hosting. It have all the best features and its easy to use.
Support team is also good and listens to all issues. It is affordable hosting for the micro niche site.

    1. Harsh Agrawal

Well, Hostgator India and Bluehost India are equally good. You can choose any one of them.

Blue host India dashboard is poor, and their customer support is very much poor, I have already lost 10k , opting for 3 years hosting from them,

Go with blue host.com they are good. I am hosting my website with a traffic of 1500 page views per day, till date I experienced 99% up-time.

    2. Ashish

If your daily page visits is less than 10k then you can go with bluehost.in or bluehost.com they both are good (use WP Super Cache, Gzip).

If you’re getting more than 10k visits per day that you should go with VPS or Cloud server…. If your visitors are from India and Asia Pacific region than I will suggest you to use Linode(Singapore Data Centre), DevCloud by Bluehost(Mumbai Data Centre), Digital Ocean (Mumbai data Centre), AWS (Mumbai data Centre, though it’s costly) etc.

    1. Harsh Agrawal

Go for Hostgator India or Bluehost India. Both are at par.

  8. siddhesh

    hey harsh,
is hostgater.in better than bluehost.in? i am in a pretty confused state right now, as to which one to choose, since I don’t have any any provision for international transactions.

    1. Harsh Agrawal

      Hey Siddhesh,

Both are equivalent. you can use any one of them.

  9. Kalyani

I am to move my custom blogger domain to wordpress (yet to decide on bluehost / hostgator etc on wordpresS). what are your recommendations for this ? look forward to ur response ! Thanks in advance !

Is hostgator india good for website having good usa traffic.

    1. Harsh Agrawal

      @Rohit
Nope..I would rather suggest you to stick to Hostgator U.S.

      1. Rohit

Hello, sir I have 600 posts and my blog is still on blogger. I get around 8000 pageviews per day. However most traffic is indian but I also receive traffic from USA. I want to know If I target USA traffic by content articles would Indian hosting negatively affect my site rank in US. I can’t afford US hosting and don’t have credit cards. And I write only one article per day. I don’t want to be a super blogger but just want to keep site user friendly and more productive nd want to target US traffic via my genuine articles. So what would you suggest me sir.

  11. Prakhar Shrivastav

    Hey Harsh,
I’m currently using Bigrock Web hosting for my website and looking forward to migrate on bluehost. I agree with all the points mentioned above. I think that bluehost is best and flexible web hosting for WordPress bloggers. Anyways thanks for sharing.

  12. Mayank Gautam

    Hello harsh,
As you and other friends have clarified that Bluehost India is no good as Bluehost US.

But tell us ,Which Hosting has a quality server within India, So that we will be able to improve our seo for Indian users.

And please tell us , Does Server geographical location effect seo for that region?

    1. Kumar

I would recommend you to go with hostgator.in if you’re looking for best web hosting in india. As they have good customer support 24×7 and Yes, Server geographical location affect SEO for a particular region. If your server is from India then most of the audience/visitors will come from india.

  13. Recentpro

I am using Bluehost for hosting my WordPress sites and I am very satisfied with them.

  14. Asif

I’ve tried them (Bluehost India) for one of my blogs that has 90% of the raffic from India, But the blog was too slow to load, even while moving from one section to other in the dashboard.

Glad that you are bringing up the issue and I hope they learn their mistake soon enough.

    1. Harsh Agrawal

      @Asif
Have you done all the basic optimization?
      Cache plugin & Cloudflare?

  15. Gaurav Singh

Hi Harsh, I tried to purchase hosting plan for my blog but I couldn’t do that because they don’t allow us to pay via debit cards. Second thing, that if I select hosting plan for a year then the pricing becomes high. Tell me what should I do? Please

  16. Vijendra Dhanotiya

Globally i was very satisfied with bluehost
Support: So far, I have not seen such a great customer support. People on lie support were very helpful even though I’m a beginner, and they gave me basic advice on what I should accomplish even when I decided to change host (reasons later).

Uptime and speed: I did not notice any issue with this aspect of hosting. My website isn’t a behemoth, though, so I can’t testify so much on that part.

Value: As a renewing customer, I was a bit disappointed by the price they offered me for a 3 years hosting. I was seeing better offers elsewhere (and even for Bluehost NEW customers) so I decided to leave. The customer support did try to find a way to keep me, but it was not enough.

Globally, if you’re ok with the price, go all in. They’re great!

  17. Hari Vatsa

Hi Harsh, I have an important query. While I was going through Bluehost US plans, I needed your help whether I should go for VPS or shared hosting. I have WordPress website and I get 4K traffic daily so your suggestion would help me making a better career decision. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful post.

  18. Vishal Verma

    Hi sir
My blog hosted on Godaddy WordPress hosting but now, I want to change hosting to BlueHost.
    Is it possible???

  19. Santanu

Thanks Harsh for sharing your views on this topic. Few months back I have also bought a hosting plan from Bluehost India, but intentionally. But as I have already done the investment, right now I am thinking to try the same for my new website on Hosting niche.
I hope in next few month I will be able to discover how good is Bluehost India. And anyway, I don’t have any other choice as well. 🙂

  20. alex shabu

I am currently hosting on godaddy . i have linux and plesk (both accedently bought ) i suggest everyone not to come near goaddy if you don’t wanna loose your traffic . bluehost must be better than godaddy for sure

    1. Pamela

You are right Alex, i too had a very bad experience with Godaddy. Their Servers are excessively over loaded and performance is quite low. Even Customer support is not good.
