These are some of the best and free WordPress hosting providers. However, always remember that you should never host your professional blog or high traffic website on these free hosting. Because they can suspend your hosting account anytime without warning you or without any reason.

Therefore, before you move forward and buy any one of the above, let’s look at its cons.

Disadvantages Of Using Free WordPress Hosting Providers

  • Limited Space and Bandwidth: Free hosting has limited space and bandwidth. The bandwidth can be seen as the number of visitors allowed on your website per month.
  • Very Poor Customer Support: Free web hosting has terrible customer support. You will be helpless if you got stuck anywhere in the installation or if you have any problem.
  • No Backup System: Free users are not allowed to backup their site. If anything bad happens to your blog, then you will be unable to back up your blog.
  • Risk of Getting Banned or Suspended Account: There is always a fear of getting banned or suspended while using free hosting. They can ban your account any time without giving any reason and warning.
  • Affects SEO: If you are hosting your blog on any of the free hosting company, then uptime is not guaranteed. Every downtime of the site adversely affects the ranking of your website.

1. Free Hosted Blog can die at any time

The hosting providers can end their free service at any time. They will inform you before ending their service as per the terms & policies, but what is the useof it?

You should move all content to a new server. Also, remember if they close only new registrations and keep their already hosted domains, you can redirect your links to your new domain. If they completely stop their service, you will not be able to redirect your old links. As a result, all your old links will be dead.

A great example of this:

Yahoo Geocities shut their services in April 2009. They said new registrations would not be accepted, but old domains would remain functional. Upgrading to Yahoo’s paid hosting was recommended. Unfortunately, Yahoo later asked to transfer all data before the deadline (October 26, 2009) and said GeoCities was being deleted and not decommissioned!

You may ask what this means.

Let me tell you.

This means any data, whether or not personally backed up by its owners or readers, will not be recoverable. Ever.

2. You can’t sell your free hosted blog

It’s hard to digest the truth. And the truth here, my friends, is that your free hosted blog is NOT YOUR property. For example, read the terms and conditions of Blogspot. It states that you can’t sell, share, and transfer your Blogspot blog to any other person.

“No Resale of the Service. Unless expressly authorized in writing by Google, you agree not to reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, trade, resell or exploit for any commercial purposes (a) any portion of the Service, (b) use of the Service, or (c) access to the Service.”

You may sell your blog secretly to someone. But if Blogspot identifies it, your blog will be shut andwill also be removed from the search engine index.

3. There is no safety

I don’t say this to threaten you over and over again. I say this from experience and knowledge. Free hosting service providers can’t spend much on security issues.

  • Save

I remember a company (2ip) which offered free hosting services. Hundreds and thousands of users started their blog on it. But their servers were soon hacked by hacking experts. I have their email which they sent me a few days after the hack. In the mail, they stated that they couldn’t get back the data, and asked me to contact Hostgator if I had a backup.

4. There is no control over server resources for you

All free hosting companies offer limited resources in terms of disk space and bandwidth. As I mentioned earlier, this type of hosting are idle for testing purposes, but not for hosting a serious website.

Even a slight spike of traffic will bring your WordPress site down as the resources you get are limited.

I did my best to curate this list by finding only those free web host which exist for years and you can rely on them for testing. However, you must know that they can close their service at any time or change it to a paid model. So, just use them as long as you are testing and when you are ready, you can consider getting one of the cheap WordPress hostings which cost around $3-4/month only.

A good one is Bluehost that offers a free domain, which means you save an extra $12 every year. They also offer free SSL which is a must-have in today’s time.

Last Words – Our Recommendation

We advise you only to use free WordPress hosting to learn WordPress related things like themes, plugins and customizing the blog and any other stuff you can think of.  Otherwise, always buy a premium WordPress hosting from a good company to make your blog or website run smoothly and safely.

If you also know any good free hosting providers for WordPress then, share it with others by commenting below. And if you like this post then don’t forget to share it with your friends.

Hi, my own experience with Byethost :

2-3 years ago I used Byethost with SMF. Service is too much better then any of Indian hosting provider.
But main problem is when you going to run or become popular on web or start to grow ur audience with ur blog / web..they suddenly start to block u and ur page. & give some technical reason. They all free hosting providers start to force you To buy their Primium hosting plans. At that time u have no choice. So I advice you to BUY primium plans frm any hosting providers.

“FREE is better ” but ” PRIMIUM / Paid is the best ” ☺
    Thnx,
Admin harsh , me & all shouters face the Same Problems @ time to start a blog / web .

    Hi Saban,

This is a great post for beginners. Although, you should not use these services if you are really serious about blogging, these services are great for learning and experimenting with WordPress.

    Thanks!

The free WordPress hosting providers list which are mentioned in this article only fine for WordPress beginners. If they want to know how WordPress works and wants to understand the basic things about WordPress before launching a real blog or website, the hosting providers are fine. Otherwise, this will not be an intelligent decision for anyone if someone wants to start their real blog or website in free hosting. Thanks for the list anyway.

  7. Mazahar

I think before purchasing a paid hosting plan, one must use free hosting providers. You can actually learn much more from it, but at a point when the traffic grows settle to paid hosting.

    Thanks ShoutMeLoud Team.

  8. Raaja Anandhan

    Hi Saban,
Before launching a blog/website, these free wordpress hosting is a good way to learn about some things. Surely this will be helpful for newbies. Thanks for share.

  9. Gurmeet Singh

Consider removing the first one as it is not accepting any new application of new Indian users. 🙂

  10. Dancun Kibiwot

Such a nice article, especially for bloggers like me, who started with free hosting also. Just trying out the joy of almost fully bossing your own webspace from the awful blogger, i hosted my current blog on freehosting(dot)com. Just like MD SABAN has said, the customer service is terrible. In fact, they don’t reply at all. Most of the time also, my site was either down or took forever to load. During my migration, i had to handle all the FTP stuff alone, with no prior knowledge.
All the same, i still agree that its a good idea to taste the waters before going premium.

  11. Shibam Kar

Hi Saban, I had tried some of this. Byethost and biz. nf and I found Biz .nf best. I am still using it for practicing. Really good hosting. Thanks for sharing. This article can help newbies.

  12. Sufyan Shaikh

I have used Byethost it is extremely well.

I would recommend newbies to use Bytehost to get started with WordPress

  13. Nikhil

I wondered you hadn’t included the WHDMS in this list. IT’s also good for beginners. Well, all of these are also seem good. I would use them for testing and will share the results. You are right bro. These hostings give only limited space. I never recommend them, but for learning wordpress and another thing they seem good.

  14. Pratik Kumar

Yeah right, never host on any free hosting providers. There is nothing free in this world.
The server response time of these hosting providers is very bad which cause your visitors to move to another blog or website.
And even they are more vulnerable to hacks and they might steal and sell your important data.
So if you have low budget go for shared hosting.

  15. swayam

Thanks for all these but you missed to add Hostinger in this list, whcih provides 2GB free hosting with cpanel.

  16. loudtips
