Few days back I talked about Namecheap domain hosting coupon code, and I started hosting my domain name with Namecheap.
I also bought a hostgator hosting, I have already an unlimited domain account with dreamhost , though I wanted to try other hosting and I went with Hostgator..(Read my review of Hostgator) .This post is for all those who register domain using namecheap and hosting through Hostgator.
Login to your namecheap account
Click on domain name which you want to host at hostgator
One the next page click on domain name server set up at the left hand side and enter the DNS provided by hostgator into your account.
To get the DNS login to your Hostgator cpanel and on the Bottom left hand side you will see the DNS associated with your account.
make sure you add the Name server provided by hostgator for your account. Name server is included in welcome email from hostgator.
Adding addon domain with Hostgator.
When you signup for hostgator , you can buy a domain name with them or mention your domain name you want to buy with them.
- If you mentioned domain name there , changing DNS will complete the process
- If adding another domain, follow the above step and continue reading
Login to your Hostgator control panel :
Click on addon domains under Domains
On the next page
- Add domain name
- Add FTP user
- Add Root folder
- Add password
On the next page you will get the confirmation stating : your domain name has been added.
