Product Name: LongTailPro
LongTailPro is a popular keyword planner tool trusted by marketers worldwide.
Are you looking for an automated system to provide you with profitable niche keywords?
In an earlier post on a micro-niche case study, I talked about the LongTailPremium tool that I’ve been using for a long time. A full review of LongTailPro was overdue.
Today, I will share a detailed LongTailPro review and will also show you how to use it to find the perfect keywords for your blog or niche or review sites.
When you are working on a micro-niche blog, one of the biggest challenges is finding the right keywords which can drive traffic, are easy to rank, and will generate great amounts of revenue for you.
Earlier I shared a trick using SEMRUSH to find long tail, high CPC keywords, but LongTailPro can do more than that.
So, without wasting any more time, let’s look at the full LongTailPro review and find out how it can help you.
LongTailPro Review and Features:
LongTailPro is a desktop keyword research tool that runs on Adobe Air (works on Windows & Mac).
It’s a premium tool that costs $47/month ($30 discount with the special link at the bottom). But you can also test-drive it for $1 using this link for the next 10 days.
I suggest that you signup for their trial so that you can try it yourself while reading this review and tutorial.
One great thing about LongTailPro is that you don’t have to be an SEO master to use this tool. The user interface is simple and straightforward. You will get used to it very quickly.
But is it worth the hype?
Here is one success report from a blogger who started using LongTailPro for keyword research:
This SEO tool is more than just a keyword research tool, as it’s packed with tons of features. Here are a few of those features which will make you want to try it right away:
- Create multiple projects. (You can have different campaigns for different sites. This will help you stay organized.)
- Generate keywords based on your seed keyword. (Learn to use this feature after the review below.)
- Export keywords in Excel spreadsheet.
- Import keywords into LongTailPro.
- Find long-tail high-CPC keywords (great for increasing AdSense revenue).
- Find available domain names. (If you are creating a micro-niche blog, you can use LongTailPro to suggest available, keyword-rich domain names).
- Check the Google, Yahoo, and Bing ranking for your keywords.
- Keyword competition checker.
- Favorite your best keywords.
How To Start Using LongTailPro Keyword Tool:
Head over to LongTailPro.com and take $1 trial for 10 days which has all the features you need to get started.
The very first thing which you need to do here is to create a campaign.
Do remember, the country which you choose is the search country for your keyword research.
After creating the campaign, it’s a piece of cake, as the rest of the LTP (LongTailPro) interface is easy to use and is self-explanatory.
Add Seed Keyword:
This is where you will start your keyword research.
You can use it for your existing site or you can use it for finding a new micro-niche website. I want you to pay special attention to the filter section, as it’s here that you will find keywords based on CPC.
You can define a minimum CPC for keywords.
If you want to find long-tail keywords, you should select the “Words” section and enter the minimum number of words to search for.
For example, I’m using the seed keywords “Affiliate marketing”.
Click on “Generate Keywords”, and LongTailPro will start doing all the hard work for you. It will take a few minutes to give you the results, so in the meantime, go grab a coffee.
After the coffee break…
Here is what my results page looks like. It already found many keywords based on my filter (CPC):
Here you can sort the list based on CPC, local & global searches. Before you move ahead, filter out the irrelevant keywords by clicking on the “X” mark. This will help you stay organized and keep your list clean.
Now click on any of the keywords you find useful for your micro-niche site and it will take you to the Competitor Analysis page.
When you are in a competitive niche, you need to pay attention to specific factors.
For example, it would be easier to outrank any competition with less backlinks and less domain authority.
The LongTailPro Competitor Analysis tool lets you check all of these important details.
Notice the below screenshot and try to see how easy it is to find a “low-hanging”, profitable keyword.
This is how you can find a list of highly profitable keywords for your niche site.
Remember to make the most out of “Filter” in “Campaign Settings” and use the “X” every time to create a clean keyword list.
Once you are done repeating the process a few times, go back to “Keyword Research” and click on “Export” to export your final keywords into an Excel file.
So far you have learned how to use some of the LongTailPro features.
Now let me show you what their platinum features can do for you.
LongTailPlatinum will help streamline everything for you. This offers important features such as:
- Checking keyword competitiveness (Avg. KC)
- Favorite your best keywords
- Import up to 10,000 keywords at once
While looking into buying LongTailPro, you should get the monthly pro plan that allows 12,500 keyword searches/month.
You will see a column for favorite keywords (“Favorites”) and in the keywords results page, you can favorite any keyword of your choice (see above screenshot).
Keyword Competitiveness Checker:
This is one feature that you are going to find very useful as this will let you pick the best keyword for your site without wasting a lot of time. In LongTailPlatinum, you will find the “Avg. KC” column on the “Keyword Research” and “Competitor Analysis” pages.
Here is what the different Avg. KC scores mean:
- 0 to 10 – No competition
- 10 to 20 – Extremely low competition
- 20 to 30 – Low competition
- 30 to 40 – Moderate competition
- 40 to 50 – Somewhat high competition
- 50 to 60 – Very high competition
- 60 to 70 – Extremely high competition
- 70 to 100 – Don’t even think about it!
This will make it much easier for you to pick the easy to rank keywords based on keyword competitiveness.
LongTailPro Keyword Rank Checker Feature:
Note: This feature is no more available in their cloud version. I have reached out to their team to find out if they are adding this feature anytime soon.
This is one of the least talked about features of LTP as most bloggers are using LongTailPro for only keyword research and checking keyword competitiveness.
But this feature is really cool.
You can check keyword ranking in major search engines (Google, Bing, Yahoo) directly from the comfort of your desktop. There are no limitations here and you can add as many domains or as many keywords you want.
Conclusion: Longtailpro review
LongTailPlatinum is a keyword research tool for smart and modern bloggers.
It doesn’t matter what kind of website you have, LTP will help you to find the best keywords that you can use for your blog to drive more traffic and generate more revenue in whatever methods you choose.
If you have a blog where your primary earning source is AdSense, you can use this tool to find long-tail keywords with a high AdSense CPC value.
With a price tag of $47/month (with the below-discounted link), this investment is well worth your money.
My micro-niche site, which is generating $175/month is an outcome of LongTailPro + SEMRUSH.
Go ahead and use LongTailPro right away. If you don’t like it after 10 days, you can stop using it and it will cost you nothing.

My question is if they offer 10,000 keyword searches per month will that be enough. If you search 1 seed keyword it will give you 800 possible keywords which means if you search 12 seed keywords you will go over your monthly keyword search. Is that right ?
Wbat is the price of long tail pro these days??
for duration of one year?
Hi. This long tail pro keyword research review is useful for me to learn how to do keyword research and learn some features.
hello Harsh, Now platinum is $37 per month. Can I get something like $17 or less than $25 through a coupon code?
Perfect review!!! I just love this software. I have used its 10 days trial and it works like a charm. It is miles ahead of its competitor Market Samurai because it is easy to use. I desperately want to own this software.
I just want to point out that with the $30 discount, the price is $67, not $77. This is an even better deal!
Thanks @Sunil. Corrected it!
Hello thanks for the share, I formally used Semrush for keywords but I will try LongTailPro to see how it works for me.
The above article is very interesting and informative regarding keyword selection according to the keyword stats. The reviewed tools is good but Google keyword planner have all feature that it contain. So, please give counter review of both and differentiate!
Thanks for sharing
Google keyword planner has almost all features like LongTailPro and that’s a free tool so why should one buy this tool?
It would be great if you can provide comparative analysis of this tool with Google Keyword Planner. Since you’re using this tool so you can provide best comparison. One differentiation which I understood is that this tool works for yahoo and bing as well whereas Google keyword planner works only for Google but Google being a dominating search engine, gives the highest returns, so only this reason may not be enough to buy it.
Hello, I think it has some other differences.
1. You can make search for EMD when searching for keyword.
2. LTP helps you to find keyword competition. The Google Keyword Planner shows a competition but that is for advertisers. Not for publishers. This is one of the best features of LTP.
3. You can check Page Authority, Juice Page Links, Page Links etc. of your competitors.
Hello Harsh ,
Its a great article but i want to include one more thing to this article that when i registered the trial it does not ask for moz api as it shows me the Competitor analysis directly without it . i think maybe its because of the new update ?????
Other than that all is well.
It will ask for Moz Api when you are doing the competitor analysis.
