Displaying ads on your website is a great way to earn money online. And among the various ad platforms, Google AdSense is the most popular choice.

This excellent and popular platform lets you display ads relevant to your website content and earn money when a visitor clicks on the ads on your blog.

If you haven’t created an AdSense account for your blog, you should read this guide to create one & start earning. Do remember, they have strict quality guidelines so, ensure your blog follows all of them, before applying.

Once you have your AdSense account, the biggest challenge for a newbie is how to add it, and for the pros is how to place ads at the desired position.

For ex: We all know that placing AdSense ads within content gives great CTR & earning. Now, there are a few AdSense plugins that let you add ads within content. Do remember, a few bloggers don’t prefer placing ads within content, as it affects readership.

In today’s post, I will introduce you to some of the best AdSense plugins for WordPress. Depending upon your needs & requirements, pick the right one from the list.

AdSense Plugins to Add AdSense on WordPress Blog:

Note: Do look at WPQuads which is a free lightweight plugin and seems to be popular among ShoutMeLoud readers. They also have a pro version with some advanced features that you can see here.

1. Ad Inserter

With lots of customization options and 16 different code blocks, Ad Inserter is a simple advertisement plugin for WordPress. The plugin lets you display the ads in various locations including before and after content, selected paragraphs or excerpts, before title, etc. You can also use the automatic display option to let the plugin choose the ad locations.

As the plugin also installs a custom plugin, you can easily display your ads in the sidebar too. Alternatively, you can display ads by using the custom shortcodes or PHP function. It is possible to customize the ads to display only to the logged-in, logged-out, or all users and users from specific type of devices. You can also choose to show the ads in older posts.

2. WordPress Ad Widget

WordPress Ad Widget provides one of the easiest ways to display AdSense or other ads on your website. Installing and activating the plugin will create several custom widgets in your WordPress website. To use the widgets, go to Appearance > Widgets from your website dashboard and find out the widgets titled ‘Ad Widget…’.

It is possible to display both text and image advertisements by using the plugin. The simple, beginner-friendly plugin lets you display an unlimited number of ads. However, make sure that you are complying with the policies of the ad providers.

3. AdsPush

AdPush is another great plugin for adding AdSense ads on your blog. Once you have installed and activated the plugin, you have to provide your AdSense publisher ID to authorize the plugin. After doing that, you can display ads by choosing the necessary customization options.

The plugin lets you show different types of ads including text, image, text and image ads, link blocks, etc. For each type of ad, you can choose the format. Available formatting options include Horizontal, Vertical, and Square resolutions. You will also find several positions for displaying the ads. Lastly, you can choose a default color palette or choose custom colors for the ads.

4. WP Advanced Ads

The Advanced Ads plugin provides you with all the necessary tools to manage, place, target, and optimize all kinds of ads on your website. However, a unique feature of Advanced Ads is its deep integration with Google AdSense. So you can connect your website to your AdSense account and import ads from your account with one click without having to copy ad codes manually and change their layout.

You can also optionally view the sales of your ads and alerts from your account in the backend. Furthermore, Advanced Ads takes care of creating a correct ads.txt file for you and can automatically integrate both the verification code and the codes for Auto Ads and AMP Auto Ads.

By enabling the premium add-ons of Advanced Ads, you can extend the functionality even further. For example, with features like Click Fraud Protection to protect your account, Lazyload for better page speed, Sticky AdSense ads, or the automatic conversion of standard AdSense ads into the AMP format.

Final Words

Do remember none of these plugins let you add AdSense for search, and you should use it. Search box powered by AdSense helps your readers find content on your blog, and you earn a decent income from this extra unit. You can see the maximum allowed AdSense units here.

My suggestion for you is: Instead of using 2-3 plugins, use one that solves your purpose. Pick the one that lets you add ads from other ad networks also. Do let me know which of these plugins you are using. If you are using any other plugin to add AdSense or other ads on your blog, do share with us in the comment section.

Hi, I started my own website a while ago and found this website through Google, to see what the best way to add Google AdSense to my WordPress site was. I personally tried Google AdSense, Ad Injection, and Ad Inserter. And for me the best plugin out of the three was Ad Inserter. Just the ability to be able to place ads where ever I want, and I could edit them to fit in with my theme. Made my life so easy. Not really tried the others due to the fact I was enjoying Ad Inserter, but thanks for the post, I might not have found it. There are so many plugins to choose from and half of them don’t even work properly or just mess up your theme. So thanks, and keep up the good work.

Thank you for the detailed tutorial. We always used wordpress widgets to add adsense code manaully but we tried “WordPress Ad Widget” and it looks promising.

Hey thanks for the suggestions/ advice. I’m using the Google Adsense plugin. When trying to apply ads to my home page, I keep getting a notification that I already have three ads on the page. I’ve searched the internet trying to figure out how I can see those ads, and I can’t find any information. Spent hours trying to figure this out… How and where can I see these ads, so that I can remove them and add without frustration? Thanks for any tips!

Nice collection! Will help bloggers to integrate ads into WordPress themes that don’t have support for Adsense integration. Easy Plugin for AdSense has search bar. I’m using it.

  6. Gadgetsloud

Thanks for multiple options. I am using Ad Inserter for my blog and it is working great. Easy to place ads and easy to manage.

I started to use the google Adsense plugin and it works like a charm. Can I use adds from Content Add or other publisher tools along with Adsense?

  8. Ranjit Ranjan

I have just got Google adsense approval as I had placed the test add in my widget text area for right sidebar for my website techdotmatrix.
But, since it is approved now I want to use some plugin. I am bit confused should I use the Google Adsense plugin for wordpress as it increased the visibility but per my research so far on the net I found that it always breaks and add do not show up.

  9. Rana

So in short, what’s the best plugin of all? I am too lazy to test all these plugins one by one. 🙁

  10. Dhruval

Hi, thanks for sharing the article. I used the Google Adsense plugin from Google and worked just fine until recently, Ads won’t show up. I am having a hard time figuring it out why this happened. My account is active and no such e-mails or notifications about my account being banned. Sometimes while changing the theme, I see ads and mostly Ads won’t show up. What could be the problem? I tried adding the Ad unit code in widgets but they still don’t show up. However, I see the ads script in the page source code. But won’t display it.

    Hello Foysal,

Thanks for the list, I’m looking a plugin which have this option.

If my post is less than 100words so adsense ads automatically hide/disable from those particular posts. Is there is any plugin have this option, please let me know. Thanks

  13. Devesh Binwal

Currently I’m using Ad Injection Plugin and I’m fully happy with it… Google AdSense by BestWebSoft is also a good Plugin for wordpress Blog 🙂 and this list is also good for those who are looking for good adsense plugins 🙂

Btw I wanna know about where should I place Google Adsense ads to get better CTR… ??

  14. Mehedi

It’s really nice and helpful write up about Google adsense implementation on the content. Right at this moment i am using Google adsense official plugin. Believe me it’s the best if anyone is using only adsense but if other affiliate need to be used then other can be used.

  15. John Smith

The “All in one adsense” plugin from linewbie is also quite good, it’s the only one that have random position in post, it decreases ad blindness.

  16. sweety

Hi Sir, Actually……7th point “google adsense click fraud” contains broken link..

    1. Harsh Agrawal

      @Sweety
Seems like this plugin has been removed from the WordPress repo, and unsure why it happened. For now, I have updated the link to their Github project. I hope to see a proper landing/download page for this plugin in the near future.

I found this an interesting read as I have been having Adsense problems for quite some time. The last I have tried is the Google Adsense plugin and it increases my Adsense views immensely but I still have the same issue with my Vidzoom first or splash page. The adds disappear after a second or 2 and I am unsure how much this is affecting my views and income?

    1. Rohit

      Hi VijayGopal,

I faced this problem few days ago, While you run the Google adsense Plugin, Dont Run another ads insert Plugins like Ad injection, Quick Adsense and Many more for Placing the Ads. It effect your google adsense plugin and it wont shows the ads on your site

      1. Thomas

Do you have any proofs for this claim?

I am using Quick AdSense, WP QUADS and the official and unsupported Google AdSense plugin for test. There is no difference in views if all of the plugins are configured properly.

  18. salek ahmed

Hello bro is there any option for blogger blog to track invalid clicks. Please help me

  19. Arun dominic

Thanks for the article, I’m planning to sign up for AdSense now Infolinks pay me very well on my site codeblogging.com

  20. Jesse Hackshaw

I personally try to embed the ads myself in the code because I think that this is the best way for what I want to achieve. Sometimes I use the Quick Adsense plug-in which I think is very good as well.

    1. Ben

I’m going to have to agree with Jesse on this one. Especially since Google announced that they are retiring their Adsense WordPress plug-in and will no longer support alternative plug-ins either. Google’s QuickStart or page-level ads are going to be the best alternative options moving forward.
