I'm not exactly sure that I agree with the author's assessment of Optima N101 as the "best" solution to keeping kids away from pornography. First of all, "pornographic" is in the eye of the beholder. One man's swimsuit model is another's unsuitable material. How can hardware understand what YOU as a parent find inapropriate, when the very concept changes from person to person? And sure, it may block out a lot of what you don't want your teens to see, but what happens when they walk out the front door? With internet access available at the library, school, friend's houses (even on most cell phones these days)the real key to keeping young ones safe lies in communication. As a writer for a non profit anti pornography site, it's been my experience that the most effective internet filtering systems are those that give parents more options, and those that help open up a dialogue between adults and teens. There are even a few fully managed programs available now that can be fully customized- some also come with the capability to shut down internet use all together during certain hours.
