WordPress is the most powerful blogging software available right now and many people have blogs powered by WordPress. About a month back, my WP site went down and was down for almost whole month. When I opened a page, a blank page would appeared. WordPress dashboard wasn’t opening too.
As you know, or may not know that I am a student and I don’t have much time for blogging so I just left my blog alone and didn’t check it for about 2 weeks. One day I got some free time and checked my blog, still the same problem. I found that text files and images were all opening. I thought that it might be a problem with WordPress. I reinstalled WordPress but the problem didn’t fix. Then I changed my theme but still the same problem. I deleted all the plugins by using ftp file manager but nothing fixed. It was a complete head-ace and I was unable to find any solution on the web too.
Solution
When I opened html viewer of my browser, there was written something telling that the “Advanced-cache.php” file generated by WP-Super-Cache was making the problem. I deleted the fileĀ availableĀ in “wp-content” folder and re-installed the plugin. Everything got fine and after being down for a month, my blog is up and running again.

I had the same problem and It was because of a #$%^ theme I was using. Sometimes Corrupt and Outdated Plugins may cause serious errors.
Thanks for creating awareness by this post, your explanation is very clear in this post as layman blogger too identify what went wrong. I was also facing a problem like this that my blog went “Server error” when everyone hit my URL.
I have received a lot of complaints from my well wishers and fellow bloggers, I have checked everything and finally found the evil is plug-in. I removed that and now my blog is fine.
Thanking you Yousuf Khan.
Thank you Yousuf. You know what, many do not blog about their trouble shooting experiences. Great that you did it!
either cache or permanent links settings both create this issue.Diffcult sometimes to crack such errors ! thanks for sharing your experience.
Actually, it’s not a problem of that plugin every time. There can be other issues as well.
