Here comes the Christmas gift from WordPress. WordPress released its 3.1 RC1 version. RC stands for “Release Candidate”. RC is an indication that product is ready for final launch. It is released after Beta version and before Final Launch. So now you can start waiting for the final release of WordPress 3.1.

WordPress 3.1 was in testing phase since months and today you can download the WordPress 3.1 RC1 version on your blog. WordPress includes lots of useful features, if you are not aware then you can check out our earlier articles on WordPress 3.1 features.
Here are few things which WordPress has suggested to keep in mind:
- With nearly 700 tickets closed, there are tons of changes. Plugin and theme authors, please test your plugins and themes now, so that if there is a compatibility issue, we can figure it out before the final release.
- Users are also encouraged to test things out. If you find problems, let your plugin/theme authors know so they can figure out the cause.
- If any known issues crop up, you’ll be able to find them here.
You can check out more details and download link on official WordPress blog, As always recommended, please don’t download the WordPress 3.1 RC1 version on your live blog. If you find any bugs, you can report it on WordPress forum, WP testers or WordPress Trac.
So, give WordPress 3.1 RC1 a try and do let us know your feedback.

I have just seen this notification on my Dashboard too. RC is very important phase before the developers official released the final version.
I myself will wait for the last one before running the automatic upgrade system. In addition to that, the unwanted incompatible with theme (Thesis) is a big problem.
Right Voung, its better not to try the RC release on Live blog because it might not be compatible with themes as well as plugins. It’s always better of developers to test the RC version and come up with bugs before final release.
Great News, lets hope it works Fine, will install it asap
Try it out PR and don’t forget to share your feedback
Very interesting post. It’s worth thinking about it.
Another great release! @Andrea What so interesting about this post?
@Andrea, @Dinesh. Glad you found the post useful.
I’m looking forward to the new version but, as always, I will wait til the first update comes out before I upgrade my main blogs to 3.1.
Interesting post. But my site is hosted on blogger
I think using a stable version is better than using a beta. As it might affect your blog for some reason.
