Wordpress 2.8.4 Released due to a Serious Security Risk

Recently we announced about the Wordpress 2.8.3 and Wordpress 2.8.1 update. Wordpress 2.8.3 update was released to overcome many bugs in wordpress 2.8.1 and wordpress 2.8.2.

Yesterday wordpress realized the big security risk in wordpress 2.8.3. According to Wordpress team :

Yesterday a vulnerability was discovered: a specially crafted URL could be requested that would allow an attacker to bypass a security check to verify a user requested a password reset. As a result, the first account without a key in the database (usually the admin account) would have its password reset and a new password would be emailed to the account owner. This doesn’t allow remote access, but it is very annoying.

We can also expect a quick update after the release. So in case you have not updated your wordpress blog yet, make sure you download the wordpress 2.8.4 or update your blor from dashboard. Make sure to take a backup of your database , before updating your wordpress software.
