I have Written a post sometime back on Why commenting is important for your blog and how commenting can get you 1000+ feed subscriber in few days. I prefer using Easy comment Firefox addon to easily fill form on any blog I comment.

Though this post is for those blogs, who use Captcha to prevent spam bots comment. Its a good strategy to stop the spam noise on your blog, but for some reason I hate commenting on such blog. A simple reason is , this is something which happened many times when I tried commenting on blogs.

Usually I keep my comment more than 2-3 lines, and I don’t mind filling Captcha, but many time I face this problem even after filling the right captcha.

wordpress-comment-captcha

After writing a meaningful comment and right Captcha when I see such message, I can’t myself hitting the close button.

If you use Captcha for comment form , One simple thing which can be implemented here, is you can make each and every comment to be moderated to prevent spam comments. This might add 5 minutes of extra work, but atleast you will not have irate reader.

I don’t know how many of you have fallen into same situation like this. But if you do I would like to know what’s your reaction after seeing this message? Do you hit back and re-enter captcha or do you hit the close button like me?

I honestly couldn’t possibly agree more. I’ve read several sites that strongly discourage Captcha if you want to maximize your comment counts.

I’ve written small novels for comments only to receive that exact message you said. If it’s a site I regularly visit, I’ll usually rewrite a paraphrase of my comment.. If it’s a site that I’m visiting for the first time, I just leave… pissed off

I use a pretty simple image captcha ..It uses 4 letter commonly used word..I think that will not be a pro..What say Harsh? :)

Sham that depends on your requirement, if you getting lots of spam comments it is useful for you, else you might try to remove it and see the difference in no. of comments.

Sorry Harsh, not trying to take your readers to my blog, but I want to help as much bloggers as possible to not waste their time managing spam comments :(

these forms annoy me when i am making a comment because i know i am no SPAM….but i love it when spammers cant comment on my blog….it prevents my useless effort of comment moderation

After using my AntiSpam Bee plug-in, I only get 1-2 spam a day and I never annoy my readers like you anymore :D But I can understand the frustration, Harsh

I really hate captcha forms but there is one plus points like if you are registered in a comment service like disqus then you don’t need to reregister or make any other entry when you want to coment on the same blog or any other blog providing same service, also your comments are automatically save and available in a profile records. But yes Harsh I am agree with you, these captcha really sucks some times, it decreases the number of comments on a blog.

I agree with you Himanshu, personally I love Disqus and many times I thought of integrating it here, but I like the wordpress default comment box and I want to keep it this much simple. :) Thanks for your comment and insight.

I also hate it, I type a decent comment and then struggle to publish it. That makes me think twice about commenting on sites that use it. I would like to see the numbers of what percentage of your readers either like or dislike it. Do you think you could use a poll for this?

Thanks George for pointer, from next time I will try to implement a poll along with such posts. :)

That actually happens when we open 2-3 tabs together from such blogs. I hope bloggers using such plugin, will use some simple plugin for this issue.

Such captcha are easy, since it does not take much time entering them but I have seen blog using this plugin , and when we open 2-3 tabs together, this plugin gives error.
