Why Guest Blogging Enabled Blog Should Give Author Credit within The Post

Guest blogging is becoming a trend now and many blogs have opened their site for Guest bloggers. It is a win-win situation for both (Blog admin and guest authors). One thing which I wanted to share with all the bloggers who have their blog open for guest bloggers.

An About Me box below or above articles are good and obviously helps to give exposure to guest authors, but again when a guest author add a guest post on your blog, he usually do it for one of this reasons: Traffic, Exposure and link back. Just in case if your blog is revenue sharing blog, one reason which adds in here is money.

Problem with Author-bio Box:

An author-bio box is good for direct exposure to authors, but the problem with about me box is that it shows only when a visitors lands on your blog page but for a niche like Blogging, make money online and SEO, people like to read blogs via feeds.

Now about author box, it doesn’t show up in feeds and readers who is reading post via feeds, will never land into the guest author blog.

What’s the solution?

Here are solution for both webmasters and admin who usually allow guest posting and guest post on other blogs.

Webmasters and Blog admin:

You should consider adding one or two line of bio at the top or bottom of the article saying:

This is a guest post by {Author} Who blogs at {Blog Name with link}.

Admin can also add a link to their landing page for guest authors, this will encourage your feed readers to participate and do guest post on your blog.

Guest Authors:

If you are a regular guest author, you should notify the admin and ask him to consider adding a line or two around post about the author info, so that they get exposed in front of blog feed readers and also get traffic via this.

Bonus Advantage:

It’s un-necessary to talk about copy bloggers here and I have personally seen many auto-blogs, feeding their blog via popular blog RSS feeds. Since author bio, is added into the feeds too, guest author will get extra link. This will again help guest author to grab an extra backlink.

Do you have a blog where you allow guest posting? Don’t forget to apply this tip and see your increased no. of guest posts & if you are a guest author, don’t forget to notify blog admin to add a line of bio about you and link to your blog.

We run a guest blog and want to give our guest bloggers something back, which is we always include their social links as well as their website.

However, this is all done within the info box because it keeps things tidy. Having read what you’ve said, we are going to be changing this, and including the info in a different way from now on.

    Thank you :)

I’m planning to open up Guest Blogging shortly. Though I accept guest posts via contact forms/emails currently. Thinking of making it official. I do follow this tip. It’s pretty useful in giving the reader more info & the author more exposure.

I like the idea of including a short bio at the top of the post, because it also serves as a good introduction to who is writing the post and why. It is probably a good idea to put something at the bottom of the post, too – I like the way you do it, here on shoutmeloud, with the author box at the bottom.
