@harsh, It’s not a headache, at least with cheapvps.co.uk. As I said earlier, I’m with them since 2008. I seldom login to the server to do any modification tasks. Also, it depends on your linux skills. I’m running a Gentoo installation over there (well, KVM supports any kind of operating system).
If you’re really interested, see this:
s1 ~ # uname -a

s1 ~ # uptime
07:06:02 up 10 days, 8:01, 1 user, load average: 0.12, 0.04, 0.05

The uptime is 10 days because I’d compiled the kernel on 19th Sep. Kernel upgrade requires a restart. After 10th I don’t recall if I logged in or not before today.

You should try cheapvps.co.uk if you’re looking for unmanaged vps.
I have been with them since 2008 and truly their service is awesome, and yeah not to mention cheap!
They offer KVM VPSes which are way better than OpenVZ or Xen. KVM ~ pure dedicated box, you won’t be aware of the fact that you’re using a VM, and it’s fast.

And never ever choose OpenVZ vpses, be it managed or unmanaged unless you’re getting a test vps as a developer to show project demos, etc.
It sucks to core otherwise.

In that case you can grab 512MB plan which will be good enough to handle your traffic.. I’m on 1024 MB plan..And traffic is around 3 Lack that includes 2 blog.. Another one is very small one….!!!
Yah baby plan on shared hosting for CallingAllGeeks..
I’m also considering moving ShoutMeLoud to Hostgator Baby plan or VPS….
Unmanaged VPS is headache at times, specially when you don’t have much time..

Thanks for suggestion. I would like to have some experience on unmanaged VPS and test my ability to run it smoothly + Boost the pageload time in addition..

I am a curious person about technology. So I felt VPS will be best place to test things and knowledge.

Baby Plan on Shared hosting for CallingAllGeeks?
How much traffic can be maintained by Linode 512. Since An OS will also consume RAM.

Anand with that traffic why you need a VPS hosting? VPS hosting will cost a lot compare to shared hosting and until unless you touch 300000Pv/month, most of shared hosting can handle the load. How much now you pay for VPS at Linode?

Is Linode 512 plan will be enough for me?

Planned to install Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid +Apache+MySQL+PHP5+WordPress.
Currently have 5000hits/month But expecting 20,000-25,000 hits/m in next few month.

I have been using VPS from knownhost for hosting my drupal sites more than a year. Very happy with them. They are very prompt and efficient in troubleshooting. Great host for people like me with very little experience.
