Use Friendfeed to increase your RSS feed subscriber count

in Blogging

From last few days back I have been noticing a significant amount of increase in my Friendfeed subscriber. To be honest I’m not very big fan of Friendfeed before I got to know about the news, that Friendfeed subscriber can help you increase your Feed burner feed subscription count.

What is Friendfeed?

According to official help page

FriendFeed is a service that makes it easy to share with friends online. It offers a fun and interactive way to discover and discuss information among friends

I have already heard a lot of Buzz for Friendfeed, but never explored it. Today while I was going through Friendfeed blog, I got to know about the feature of friendfeed that will help you to boost your Feedburner RSS subscriber count.

Feedburner_rss

According to official blog post

If you have 200 people subscribed to you on FriendFeed, and you’ve added your blog as a service on FriendFeed, now you can see those subscribers right alongside the subscriber counts from Google Reader, Bloglines, My Yahoo, and anyone else subscribed to your blog’s feed.

How to add your Blog into Friendfeed?

I hop you have created an account on Friendfeed, if not you can create an account, or login using your Gmail or Twitter account.

Now under your Profile, click on Add/edit services

friendfeed_add_edit

Now under services, click on Blog, add your Blog URL and click on Import blog

shoutmeloud_friendfeed_importblog

Now friendfeed will automatically pull the new blog post on Friendfeed, and when someone will click on like, it will be shown under their friendfeed profile as well.

This was your RSS subscriber count will increase within no time.

Hey, the best way to increase feed subscriber is linking your account with Twitter.

That’s a pretty cool trick. I saw that you could add “blog” as service but never thought of it this way. I’m going to give it a try :)

Just too bad there’s much more activity going on over at Twitter (Followers) than FriendFeed. But hopefully some of the “like”-clicks you get on your RSS feed in FriendFeed will also be posted on to Twitter.

Friend feed! This can give a real boost to those who have a low subscriber count in Feedburner…

As Himanshu has rightly mentioned on top that Twitter should be linked to Friend Feed to give your numbers a big boost

Informative post Harsh! But I will contemplate before trying this out!

Cheers

Sandeep even I was not aware of it and this post is based on fact. You can see the Feed subscriber now that is 850+ compared to 515 Earlier. Though I need to see is it going to be permanent or like Traffic spike it’s Feed subscription count spike.

My feedburner subscriptions went up by 3000 and I was like wtf? After I researched it I figured out what the deal was. I don’t quite think a friendfeed subscription actually means they intentionally subscribed to or will even read your blog. That would be like counting your twitter followers as RSS subscribers because you have your blog on your Twitter profile. I’m not sure it makes a lot of sense to me.
