Website monitoring is one important thing which every blogger should take care of. Suppose you are on a holiday and your website goes down, there should be some way, that should notify you about this and you can take proper action.
You cannot keep on sitting in front of computer, just to make sure your blog/website is down for some reason.
Uptime Robot is a free online service ,which alerts you either via mail or SMS , when ever the server hosting your blog is down.
Some feature of this free website uptime service are:-
- It checks every 5 minutes ,whether your blog server is up or not.
- Its really easy to set up and the interface is full ajaxed ,so its pretty fast.
- You can select, which medium would you prefer to get the alerts for your website/blog.
- You can add up to 50(I don’t think anyone would need more that that) websites using a single account.
- As mentioned earlier it is a free service.
But this service is free only till 01 August 2010(If the advertisers and sponsors support it further then it is supposed to remain free forever).
For my Indian friends the cellular services that are supported are Idea, Vodafone, Airtel.
Do let us know how quick is the response ,in case your server happens to be down for some reason.
Another useful tool which you can try is Aremysitesup.

I am a user of Uptimerobot for the last 10 days. It is the easiest uptime system I have used ever and works so nice.
Pingdom and hosttracker are the two most reliable one for me ….but still i would like to give this a try since its a free one too.

I’ve just set up a site to monitor uptime…
http://www.pingalive.com
It’s free and checks multiple sites every 2 minutes. It alerts you with emails if your site has problems. Give it a go and see what you think.
