Why commenting is Important for a blogger?

in Blogging

One of the major problem any blogger feel is Traffic after few months of blogging. Though they never realize that traffic is just a click away from their blog.

Comments are the most powerful and easiest ways to increase traffic to your blog and increase your search engine traffic.

If you have gone through my earlier post Link building and importance of link building, I have mentioned the   commenting in link building twice.

Importance_of_commenting

How commenting will help you to increase traffic?

In simple word, you have a blog, the easiest way people will reach your blog is through Search engine or through someone referring to your blog. What is no one is referring to your blog?

This is because you have not given an Entry option for them to go through your blog, and Comment will help them to reach your blog. ( Provided comment should be genuine one and add a value).

So with a simple comment you are opening your blog doors for other bloggers, and if he find any of your post interesting, you can expect a link back to any of your post, else as it is you added few subscribers.

How to use Comments effectively to increase traffic?

The basic Idea here is use comments as link Building, Traffic generation and to maintain your online identity.

Here are basic steps you should follow and difference in the traffic will be a matter of time :

The basic of this Trick is almost same is How commenting can help you get 1000+ feed subscriber in few days.

Select a list of blog in your niche using Top commentator plugin, one such list can be obtained from my previous post :

Now all you have to do is, be a part of these blogs as a commentator. Add valuable comments not anything like nice post useful info, if you don’t have anything to add. Browse through old posts and add comments where ever you can.

The best strategy would be using your blog keyword as your nick name and start adding comments. Though with this you need to be careful, because many bloggers mark such keyword rich name comments as spam comments.

You can overcome the above situation by using Easy comment Firefox addon, create two three profiles there   and use them to add comments, depending on the kind of blogs and how they treat their visitors, Put comments with keyword or your name.

Another Very important thing, if you not following is, get a gravatar for your comment. This will add an Image to your comments and this will help you to recognize everywhere.

Are you a passive reader or Just an anonymous feed reader?

Most of the users use Email subscription option or Feed readers to read the stories. They might find the story interesting, but never add a comment. If you are one of such feed readers, you are missing a big chance to connect to another bloggers. Try to add useful comment whenever possible.

So if you have not been commenting lately, you are missing the doorway to free traffic.

If you are a blogger, do let us know you experience with effective commenting in terms of new connection and traffic?

Harsh you forgot about threaded comments (since wp 2.7) they actually make comments look like a conversation.

No I have not forget about it, though the idea here is make new blogger understand why they should not be a passive reader and take participation via comments.
Well threaded comment is another enhancement for wordpress blog, which make the conversation more interesting and one on one like this :) .

Nice post mate. I believe commenting is even more efficient than SEO, especially in the early phases of your blog.

Zubin I agree with you, at the early stage of blogging Commenting is the most Vital tool anyone can have. I have personally seen lots of traffic just because of commenting and link building.

The keyword strategy doesn’t works in all the case because many bloggers tends to mark such comments as Spam comments.

Do not comment for link-building. Comment for saying something worthed, something interesting, THAT’s when the author WILL check out your blog ;) right?

Top commenters plugin and Comment Luv are plugins any good blog should have…. I realised this a little later :)

I used to comment a lot on sites and then I started to get lazy.

Starting from this month though, I’ve made a new commitment to start commenting again :D

Comments do play a role, but at the same time I try and build a relationship with my commentators. Ok, not all of them, but I have a few and it helps. I try and comment on a few sites and some how need to expand that list.

BTW, I see you have altered your site a bit. Got a header image, changed the colours of your site a bit. I see your new colours are very close to mine. Well done, looking great :)

Most of the bloggers now use ‘no follow’ meta for comments but its still the most powerful tool to increase traffic on a blog and it makes blogging fun. Harsh, I read your blog regularly and I love it.
