We have spoken about Thesis WordPress theme a lot in the past as this is one theme which I’m using for my blog network and suggest the same to my readers and to my clients. If you have missed my posts about Thesis, I would suggest start from Thesis 1.7 WordPress Theme review.
WordPress 3.0 was released few days back and I informed you about WordPress 3.0 and Thesis WordPress theme issue which is not something really big and at this moment Shoutmeloud is running on WordPress 3.0 and latest version of Thesis theme.
Today Pearsonified tweeted about the upcoming version of Thesis 1.8 which is going to have some cool features like:
- Header Image Uploader
- Revamped Category/tag option
- New WP nav menu support
Thesis 1.8 is going to release any time this week and if you already have a developer license you are going to be one of the first one to try Thesis theme. As directed in his Tweets, Pearsonified also added that initial version might be beta and soon after that we will have the final version. Usually people with dev. thesis theme license can try beta and users with single user license will get it after the final release.
I’m not sure about price, but I believe price is going to be the same for Thesis 1.8 but in Thesis 2.0 price is likely to be increase. Thesis 2.0 is going to have Skin features which will give a complete new look and feel to Thesis theme. Just to let you know, if you buy a license of Thesis WordPress theme now, all future updates are free.

Seems I should buy thesis soon. I have been planning to buy it from a long time but monetary problems

Well Dev from Technshare recently upgraded to Thesis 1.7. He said he wanted to upgrade since a long time.

Harsh – I’ve been a Thesis dev license owner for over a year, but I’m looking at Headway actually. It seems to be leaving Thesis in the dust when it comes to no-coding web dev. Case in point, it already has all of the features Chris mentions above, and then some. Granted, I think Headway is much more targeted to non coders than Thesis, DIYThemes still positions Thesis as a no-coding Theme. What are your thoughts (if any) on Headway vs Thesis?

One of the major one is Compatible with Wordpress 3.0 and custom menu option…
I believe they are also planning to upload banner from simple thesis option page which is going to be very handy for non coders.
I believe Thesis 1.8 will continue the same trend in which 1.7 took over, albeit the integration of features new to Wordpress 3.0. Am looking forward to it.

I have noticed from surfing the blogosphere swarms of ppl using thesis, but I like my current theme and even the new Twenty Ten themes better!
