The Internet Marketing Money Making System – Steps to Success

In this article I want to tell you the process for making money online as an internet marketer. This is the same process that in the last 12 months has taken me from earning nothing online to quitting my full-time job. And it is a process that absolutely can be replicated across any niche you choose to market in.

But first, before I tell you the process, I want to make sure you’re not in one of the two categories that will never make money online. The fact is that 97% of people fail to make anything online at all and I think there are two main reasons for that:

    • The majority of people simply don’t have a game plan or a strategy. They will jump between niches on a weekly or even a daily basis looking for a get rich quick opportunity. These opportunists will never make any money online.
    • Another group of people will follow a proven money making system strategy but don’t have the resilience, determination and desire to see it through to completion. Somewhere along the line they expect results too soon, end up feeling disheartened and simply give up.

I am actually a strong believer that your mindset is the most important component to achieving anything in life which is why I always recommending studying the work of Brian Tracy, Napoleon Hill, Dale Carnegie and other mindset coaches.

Before you venture on your money making journey, make sure you really know what your goals are and try to advertise to yourself the destination. Creatively visualise what it is you’re striving for and how it would feel to accomplish those dreams.

This is a very powerful way of putting yourself in the correct frame of mind to achieve. If you want to learn how to visualise correctly then I strongly recommend reading “Creative Visualisation” by Shakti Gawain.

OK, so now let’s jump on to the meat and potatoes of this post…

What is the Process for Making Money Online with Affiliate Marketing?

This process takes some time to fully understand and implement but once you really get the system figured out it’s just a matter of replicating for other niches.

At a high level, here is what you must do to make money with affiliate marketing:-

As you can see, the process is really very logical, but when you get down to the “nitty gritty” of putting this whole system together, there are things you need to consider closely otherwise it simply won’t work.

So, here are the steps broken down into greater detail:-

1 – Do Your Market Research

As internet marketers, we are looking for a hungry crowd. This is the absolute first step in any internet marketing campaign. A lot of beginner internet marketers will find the product before they’ve found their target market – this is absolutely the wrong way of looking at it.

So, what is a hungry crowd? A hungry crowd is a group of people who have a problem that needs solving and who think about the problem often. The more desperate the crowd are, the more likely they’ll whip out their credit card and pay for what you’re offering them.

Three key hungry markets are wealth, health and sex. Within these markets are hundreds of thousands of niches that are ripe for picking.

For example, one hungry crowd is  PE (pre**ture eja**lation) – a subset of the health market. Anybody who suffers from PE will tell you that the problem is constantly on their mind and a lot and are very keen to overcome the problem at any cost. Here is an example of a desperate, hungry market and if you can find a product to solve their problem then you’ll be onto a winner.

    2 – Create a Web Site

Having done your market research and found a hungry crowd of buyers, you now need to build a web site. You can build a squeeze page (a one page web site), a blog, a wiki. To be honest, it doesn’t really matter what type of web site you build.

However, you need to understand that the main purpose of this web site is to capture the names and email addresses of visitors and get them onto your email list…This brings me nicely onto point 3…

    3 – Build Your List

Anybody will tell you that your email list is your most important asset to marketing online and it’s so important that you understand the real value of having a list. With a list of a thousand people or more, you have a way of communicating with a large body of people who are all laser targeted, qualified and highly interested in the niche that you are promoting.

To build your list, you’re going to need to get what’s called an auto responder. An auto responder is simply a tool that allows you to manage your email lists – I always recommend a tool called Aweber.

So, by now, you should have your niche, a web site and the ability to capture names and email addresses. The next step is…

4 – Build the Relationship with Your Subscribers

Now that you have got a highly targeted list of prospects, it is important that you build a relationship with them and that you present yourself as a real expert in your field. People buy from credible and trustworthy sources. Who would you trust more – a recommendation from a friend, or a recommendation from some random guy off the street? Your friend, of course.

The single best way to present yourself as credible and trustworthy and build that relationship is to provide material of real value. It is important to harness the power of free at this stage.

5 – Promote Related and Genuinely Valuable Products

You’re now at the point where you can offer product recommendations that are genuinely valuable to your subscribers. You can offer products that you have created, or other people’s products as an affiliate. The important thing to remember here is that the product really must be valuable otherwise you’ll end up with a list of buyers that are asking for refunds and will never listen to what you have to say again!

One of the best ways to increase your profitability as an internet marketer is to create a fully fledged profit funnel. This means creating a series of products that vary in value from low end ($37 for instance) to high end ($497 for instance) so that you can create repeat buyers. Of course this only works if your buyers are happy with products that you promote to them.

    6 – Finally, Drive Traffic!

By this stage you already have a complete system up and running and you’re in a great place to really make money online because a lot of the hard work is now done. All you need to concentrate on doing now is getting people to your web site and getting them into the system that you’ve created.

And that’s where traffic comes in. I can talk to you about hours for traffic, but I’m already about twice the length this post should be, so I’m going to keep it short for now:

The best traffic sources vary between niches. Let me give you a couple of examples…

In the “Make Money Online” niche there are a huge number of heavy hitting, big players making this a hugely competitive area for anyone to enter. This means that you’re going to have a hard time getting a decent Google listing and traffic from the search engines.

You’ll also find that pay per click is pretty expensive and unless you’re creative with your ads then you’ll find it very difficult to get cheap, targeted visitors to your site.

However, in this niche, you’ll find it very easy to form strategic alliances (joint ventures) with others in your niche. Traffic sources such as adswaps and integration marketing can be extremely effective ways of growing your list and getting traffic to your site. Also, high-profile article writing spots are available in abundance and there are hundreds of forums from which you can get highly targeted visitors. Warrior Forum is one of my favorite.

In the “PE” niche, however, there aren’t so many major players and you’re more likely to be able to get traffic straight from the search engines. So for this type of campaign I’d be more inclined to create a search engine optimised blog and build up what’s called an authority site to target long tail key phrases.

The most important thing you should know when looking for traffic sources is how much each visitor to your site is worth. Now, it may take a few months for you to find an accurate figure, but it’s extremely valuable data. If I know that each visitor to my site is worth 50 cents, then I can simply find paid traffic sources that cost less than 50 cents per visitor and make a profit. This is when things really start to happen.

And this is really why a complete profit funnel is so important because it typically augments the value per visitor. By building a list, providing value and offering related products I might be able to earn 50 cents per visitor, but by simply having a site that redirects visitors to the sales page (without collecting names and email addresses) then I may only get 5 cents per visitor. Trying to find paid traffic sources for less than 5 cents per visitor is hard, if not impossible, so you have to rely on free traffic sources and that really limits your rate of growth.

And that’s it – That is How You Make Money Online with Internet Marketing

I completely understand that this post is very long and may be quite overwhelming to beginners, but let me just say finally that making money online is a skill, and like any skill it can be learned. You just need to find a strategy that works and really stick with it.

I understand this article is little long but every word here might give you a new vision is your  money making blogging strategy. Do let  us know if you agree with above mentioned point, or do you have any other strategy?

Excellent, detailed post Paul. This is exactly what I am doing. It is essential to build your list. And give value to your subscribers before you promote. Also, never bombard them with sales offers immediately. Try to build a relationship with them first. It will take more time, but when you try to sell, they will be a lot more responsive!

I also agree that if someone follows these steps, they are sure to make money online. But it does take patience.

A very well structured article. It is well worth going through this cycle for every web project you start. As you get more experienced it is so easy to get lazy and cut corners. You can waste so much time on dud projects if you aren’t methodical.

Though it is a very long write-up, your steps are correct I think.

However, there could be few more sub-points like

    - When you create the website you need to make sure the logo and design first.
    - For building list, email subscription is surely the priority but you can also use other techniques like facebook fan page/group, twitter followers

I have experienced that planning excessively too is unproductive, since by the time you make up a detailed plan, the scenario has changed, and/or you have lost some of the passion!

Great article on Internet marketing. A key ingredient in the whole marketing process is the passion or purpose for which one is marketing. Identifying your life’s purpose or driving passion in life is really the first step in creating your product and your business effort. Most people never do enough self evaluation and soul searching to discover what they are here on this earth for.

In the planning stage, which must be done, you need to narrow down on why you are marketing and what you marketing. Making money must be factored into the equation, but money isn’t enough to drive people to push through all the resistance, patience, and hard work that is required to be successful. If your primary goal is making money you are subject to take the path of least resistance which may potentially land you in jail and/or hated and scorned by your customers.

If you have a passion for a product or service that people want you will endure hell and high water to get it to them. A Chinese proverb says, “The longest journey is the first step.”

Terris – that is such a great comment, you are absolutely correct in that you need to identify your profitable passion…

    This sentence:

“Making money must be factored into the equation, but money isn’t enough to drive people to push through all the resistance, patience, and hard work that is required to be successful.”

Is golden – it’s been proven that money is a poor motivator, there needs to be that added extra passion.

Your comment is something that I’m always thinking about, yet haven’t ever really been able to describe in such an effective way that you have.

    Nice one Terris !

Love it – straight to the point without the fluff.

Everyone always tries to over complicate things but you definitely nailed it. It really does come down to just creating or affiliate a product, launching a site, building a list, subscribers and traffic.

You don’t have to spend hours upon hours to learn these techniques being told in different voices; the fundamentals are there, work with those.
