Taskbar Helper is a free utility which assists you in managing the taskbar. One of its simple features can hide any application window from taskbar which can be launched later. Alternatively, the application can be shown in system tray with an application icon in hidden state.

I usually keep those applications in taskbar which are accessed regularly. Sometimes, I encounter a situation in which there are many applications running at one instance. Some applications are used often while some others rarely. There is also a third type of application whose frequency of access stands in between. In order to keep my taskbar clean, I close rarely used application. To deal with 3rd type of applications, I have found Taskbar Helper. I minimize these applications to system tray and then they can be accessed with a single click. So, the taskbar can be managed to keep only those applications which are used often. In the meanwhile, I do not need to shut down third type of applications.
The application has pretty simple interface to deal with applications in task bar. Here are some more notes
Hide Windows: The applications in taskbar can be hidden completely when they are minimized. They can be launched again from Taskbar Helper.
Minimize to System Tray: This feature can be used for all applications in which it is not supported natively and they can run in background.
Wish list (or how to make this program even better)
Hotkey support: It would be better to introduce native hotkey support to launch minimized or hidden applications.
The Verdict: This is a short and simple tool but I like it because its functions have no match. I praise the developers for building such a utile application.
Version Tested: 0.2
Compatibility: Windows XP
Taskbar Helper can be downloaded from here. (Approximate download size ~ 550kB)
