Web sites of today are relevant by many determining factors however, the most important when it comes to visitors is the design and how people perceive the site. The design of the site refers to the way it is:

• organized which is determined by its layout
• the theme
• script
• tags
• font

The way people perceive the site will be based on the:

• colors
• style
• theme
• font size and colors
• alignment

It is most important when creating a web site that it will appeal to the visitors because this is the whole purpose of the web site; to gain traffic and awareness. These things must all be taken into thought when creating the design of a web site. With the right design and elements such as font, alignment and tags, a site can experience increased traffic and sales if relevant. Though, with the wrong setup, visitors will spend little time on the site, will not return and the site will not be successful.

When search engines register that a site has a high dropped visitor rate, the site in turn, is dropped in the rankings which hurts the amount of traffic coming in. This is why the proper use of elements on the site is an important part of the site’s success.

A visitor to a web site looks for certain things when he/ she is visiting a site. These things are the following:

1. keywords
2. relevant information
3. appearance
4. content

When these things are present, they will stay on the page and when they are not, the visitor will leave to look elsewhere. When it comes to the appearance of a site, the visitor will notice things like the font and alignment. If the font is attractive and the right size, it will encourage the visitor to read more of the site and possibly even get them to click on other links listed there. The font alignment also comes into play because it will represent how the font appears to the visitor. If the alignment is off, it can give the appearance of a disproportionate page and make the site look bad overall. Too big font and the page looks empty although too little and the page looks crammed. The guests may not be able to read font that is too small either.

Tags are just as important as font or alignment because they can increase a web site’s traffic or decrease it. It is important to have relevant tags on the web site in order to allow people to find the right information that they are looking for. If the wrong tags are used, visitors may not be able to find the site as it will be indexed wrong with the search engines. This also means that the wrong visitors will be sent to the site decreasing the site’s relevancy.

With the right tags, font and alignment, a web site can effectively increase the traffic going to it and receive a higher ranking in the search engines gaining popularity and increased revenue for the site.
