So another 1 month has come to an end and now here goes the Shoutmeloud Traffic report for the month of August 2009. Traffic in the month of August was far better then July traffic.
In the last half of the month Shoutmeloud experienced a sudden increase in traffic. We got some stumble and Twitter love for many of our post which gave traffic spike in between the month.
Bounce rate is a situation here but i cover lots of different topics and more over after looking at my stats, two major factor of my high bounce rate is Comment luv plugin and guest posts. They get all the love and I don’t mind because the values they add here.
Though to lower down the bounce rate I installed link with in widget, which seems to be working till now. I have also done few changes and if that works out I will update you in upcoming posts.

It’s good to see that yahoo is giving some good traffic and this is probably I started filling all the meta field like Meta Title, Meta description and meta keyword. Which is said to be very important for traffic from yahoo and Bing search engine.
The traffic is increasing steady and I’m not hoping to see any miracle in the traffic over night. The graph so far in last few months are growing and heading upwards.
One thing which I would like to tell you, it does not matter if your post is a pillar post or filler post, every post has its own value for someone. So make sure you always fill up all the meta details to get maximum out of it. Another thing is adding alt tag into your Images . Images can be a great way to get some traffic from Google image search.

Where is your Income report ? Also your traffic is not too much as compared to your Alexa rank
Mayur Alexa ranking is measured on many factors that includes regular updates and constant traffic. Shoutmeloud Alexa rank is directly proportional to traffic and regular updates. Hope this will clear your doubts.

Harsh, do u mean to say that for every post we need to write the meta data or what? Then, this might be a laborious task for the previous and upcoming posts buddy. Please clarify this for me.
Suneel you got it right. When we write an article we optimize it both for search engine and readers. specially for Bing and yahoo traffic meta description is very important and more over as I mentioned every post either a small news or big news both holds the same value. Big news are something which become more popular with the help of social media.
It is laborious task but when we spend 1 hour writing a post, spending another 10 minutes on making it more search engine friendly will help it to rank better in search engine.
Please let me know if you have any other doubts.

@suneel… you can simply copy paste. Copy your blog title in meta tile, your important or first 160 characters of post to meta description etc.

Usman I might disagree with you on that note. If we do it we will not be able to create a difference in User friendly title and search engine friendly title. Meta title tag should always be search engine friendly else by default AIO plugin or Thesis in built SEO will pick up the default title you provided and pick up the first 160 line from the post as meta description.

Michael Traffic Just my 2 cents from Stumble upon and Twitter needs social media optimized Post. Its very hard to get them on all the posts. So in case if you planning to target social media sites, I will suggest use as much images as you can and break your posts into paragraphs. More or less like Scanable content.

The high bounce rate and low PVs/visit just proves me right. Remember my comment when you ha attributed low bounce rate to Thesis theme? It has nothing to do with the theme, it’s all to do with your hard work of linking to older articles, which you won’t be able to do now because of so many guest posts.
I really appreciate the way you are capturing the Indian blogging world (especially the starters). You have already made a name and most importantly the AUTHORITY amongst the bloggers. I do understand but I still have a point to stand with my point on PV and bounce rate and that is Typography. I have customized the theme a lot and it made the post area little cluttered and also typography is lost in between. remember how it used to be like earlier?
Thats what created the whole difference, even if you feel that its not because of that, I can change my template for http://www.chromoz.com to basic and I can show you the difference

Shariq free hosting has not much effect on Traffic but if your free hosting are hosting any malicious or spam website on the same IP. That can be an issue for you.
The only thing is if you free hosting is not giving any down time , you are good with it, else if you facing down time, best advice would be move to some paid hosting.
