SEO is a really crucial factor that decides your website rankings, its important to follow basics really well to have good rankings. Here are some of the factors that you should keep in mind to improve your search engine rankings.

Images instead to text: I know a picture can substitute 100 words but, search engine spiders does not recognize a picture, for a search spider a image with out alt tag is worth zero words.   So make sure that you use alt tag if you use an image in your website. For wordpress you can use SEO friendly wordpress plugin.

Javascript: Heavy Usage of java scripts also effects seo of your website. It doesn’t mean that you should never use a java script, but reduce the usage of scripting for a better performance.

Frames: People like to use frames to divide a website but, they are really very bad for SEO. You will see adverse effects in your websites performance if you use frames in higher degree. For a webmaster its always prescribed to avoid frames as much as possible.

Flash: This is the most critical of all the factors mentioned above.   Search spiders can never index the content of Flash movies, although textual description would help, its not advised to use a flash file in a website. In the mean while using a huge flash file as your home page is like killing your website with your own hands.

Just keep these 4 points in your mind while designing your web site. I hope you liked this article any comments and suggestions for this article are welcome.

Hi Vamsi, you have written a gr8 article. I would like to tell you that flash is not at all bad for SEO. Google has updated its bots long time back to index flash files.

Yes we can say that earlier flash was a worst option in terms of SEO but now-a-days, the things have changed. Google has updates its bots long time ago. Google indexes the links in the flash easily.

Yes Google can never index text inside flash movies but websites made in Flash can be easily indexed by Google.

I also included this line…”although textual description would help” which means there is a possibility that Google can index text in the source code.. However Google cannot index anything inside a swf file, that’s what I actually mean.
