in Google

Google does not only know a lot about search but also about News Services. And this idea is very evident in their new product release, Fast Flip, which allows users to go through news articles in a magazine style or “flip” through them as Google names it.

Most publishers do not realize that just as content is important, proper presentation and content delivery is a must too. Our personal experience tells us that any media-rich news site takes quite some time to load even over broadband. And above ten seconds it tends to get frustrating.

The trick that Google has up its sleeve is a brand new User Interface for news reading. It combines best of print media and online articles. You have access to all articles from leading publishers. You can flip through articles seamlessly until you find something you wish to read. This really is a great innovation. Another striking feature is how Fast Flip learns from your reading behavior. When you return it shows you more sites from categories, authors, newspapers etc that you seem to like.

Benefits of Fast Flip.
The reader gets access to more content while spending lesser time as well as effort. This is where most publishers like. If the user is able to read articles with ease, it also translates to more articles being read. So the publishing industry too benefits from this. And Google does intend to share revenue with publishers as it is in fact reproducing entire web pages.

All said, this is an important landmark in online news publishing. So head over to Fast Flip and give it a spin. Let us know how you like it. Happy flipping!
