    Question:

Mohammad asked  “ I have 1 blog which is approx 2 years old, once while going through your articles I read that the best way to increase PR is by commenting on other sites.

After reading that I started commenting, As of now my blog is have approx 450 backlinks, I always commented with respect to the article, But on few occasions I also added comments like good article, thanks for sharing etc.

During 3rd April 2010 PR update my blog didn’t get any PR and the most shocking thing for me is I can’t further add any comments on any blog or website after that PR update,

every time I add a comment the page is not going further , And in some blogs I’m straight away getting message that your comment is a spam,

Can you please tell me what might be the problem, where I went wrong, this is just a blog it doesn’t matter a lot but last week I purchased own domain and publishing articles their, so I definitely want to hear from you.

    Answer

First of all adding comments doesn’t guarantee page rank. Other factors like on page SEO, backlinks from trust-able and reliable source also helps a lot. This is most common problem any blogger can fail any time. If you drop useful comments most of time it’s because  of  Akismet problem. Akismet is wordpress plugin which filter and blocks spam comments. Even I have faced similar problem sometime back, you can read about it here: Akismet marking comments as spam and solution.

Why your comment is marked as spam?

May be your comments are spam in some way. May be you using some name like “Make money online” “Tips and tricks” or so on.

And some blogger/Webmaster marked your comment as spam and Akismet is treating your comment as spam on all the blogs.

The easy way is to get out of this is, Comment on few blogs and add useful and detailed comment. Also send an Email to owner using comment form, And inform them, that  you have commented some useful comments and your comment is not showing, And please check spam folder.

Alternatively you can comment on your friends blog and notify them via twitter or Instant messenger to unmark your comment as spam.

Useful resources for Bloggers who like to comment:

Earlier I have written many articles for people who like to comment, and here I’m summing up few of them and that will help you to increase your comment frequency and will also help your comment to land into Akismet spam folder.

One issue can be with Akismet plugin also. Akismet marks some comments as spam. And harsh explained above that PR doesnt fully depend on commenting only
ANd commenting also helps if blog is do-follow. If the blog provides only no-follow links to commentator then its not of any use to the commentator

Help! Akismet is catching a regular comment as spam!

Don’t worry, if you see a regular comment on your Akismet page, just click the “Approve” button or the “Not Spam” checkbox and submit and the comment will be sent back to Akismet as a mistake. The system will learn from your submission, though it may take a day or so in some cases. False positives, as they’re called, are extremely rare and we watch them closely.

I even heard that Google give thin link juice for comment form. I do not know if that’s true.

With Akismet you should use “Bad Behavior” Plugin for wordpress ;)

Sometime I see that if we make same type of thought on other blog then akistem catch it as spam.

Anyway we need to keep us safe from getting spam marked because this spam mark is only done when we try to promote bad links through comments.
Commenting the small text comments like “thanks you”, “i like it” too do not mark as spam because webmasters always are in need of good comment counts.

I too faced this sometimes when I comment briefly like Great Share, nice post etc….

From then I made it clear that if i am commenting than I will go for at least a 50 word comment and yeah to the point also :P

Comments that do not make it clear that you actually read the post may get marked as spam by the site owner. There is a line, that we all recognize, between a comment that adds value to the blog and one that only adds value to the spammers site. I suspect that the guy asking the question crossed the line. Also as Harsh says getting PR is much more than the little bit of juice that comes from comments. If comments were all that was required to get a PR than the automated spammers would get lots of PR from unmoderated comments that they get to stick.

Reading TheInfoprenier he gets 700-100 comments from readers a day and leaves 20 comments a day, 7 days a week on other blogs. He also responds to every comment he gets. That is some serious commenting but it is building him serious traffic.

You know, I am hoping this is something you can help me with – if only my comment gets through – In last few days, my comments on various blogs are going to the spam folder!!! What could be the reason behind this?
    THANK YOU!!!

One reason which I can see is you are using your domain name in your name. Which is also considered as spammy and many Webmasters don’t approve such comments. I would suggest Use your name only while commenting.
