How To Prepare Yourself Mentally Before Starting a Blog

Millions of people start blogging, but only few bloggers become successful and professional bloggers. People start blogging because they think they will earn a lot, they will be their own boss and work from home but hardly bloggers succeed in their goals and finally leave blogging. There are many factors because of which many bloggers leave blogging in between, few of them are:

  1. Not making enough money
  2. Lack of time management
  3. Writer’s block
  4. Lack of confidence or motivation

These factors arise because many bloggers are not mentally prepared for such situations and thus it becomes difficult to overcome with above problems. To become a successful blogger, you need to have skills but more important is to be mentally prepared for blogging. A right attitude is very important in blogging.

Here are few things which you must keep in mind before starting a blog:

You need to work hard:

If you want to get success you need to work hard. If you want to be a professional blogger, there are no shortcuts. While setting up your blog or maintaining it, there would be chances that you might have sleepless nights or you would end up working for hours. But one thing is for sure once you will work hard, you will surely be satisfied and enjoy blogging.

You won’t get success immediately:

People start blogging because they might have heard or read lots of stories of successful bloggers. I do agree that such interviews, money making tips and fame stories always inspire but you must know the fact that no one got success overnight. All professional bloggers have to wait to achieve their goals. Thus don’t get upset if you are not getting results instantly.

You need to be innovative:

Just like other business, you need to be innovative and creative in blogging. You can always learn from others but unless you are not providing something new to your readers, they won’t be visiting your blog regularly. Copy paste never works in long run thus you need to think out of box to attract visitors.

You need to respect online community:

Blogosphere is a huge online community and you need to take care of others in same way as you respect others in your normal life. Bloggers help each other, always ready to share experience and respect each other. If you are planning to start a blog, you have to think about others too.

You must have positive attitude:

There are chances that you will get lots of ups and downs while blogging but make sure that you don’t lose your confidence and stay positive towards your blogging career. If you will have positive attitude you will keep learning new ways to achieve your goals.

Above factors are especially for newbie who want to start their career as blogging. If you keep yourself mentally prepared before starting a blog, you will never quit in between.

    So true…

I have seen real examples. My friends started blogging after seeing me but left it in between because they din’t earn money. They wanted to earn quick. which is not possible.

Takes months, years to get consistent income.

That’s great advice. I believe that it’s important to set goals before you start out blogging. Some people do it for the money, and as you said, if they don’t earn enough money they’ll quit (but what’s enough money?).

Some people quit becuse they don’t get enough visitors or enough comments, but what’s enough? I believe that it’s important to set goals that you can measure, and that you set a long term goal (or several).

It’s very important to be persistent. I have written an ebook a long time ago, and I had almost given up receiving any traffic to the landing page, then about four days ago it received a link from a very popular site and for the past days I have had more than 250 unique visitors from this page alone. Being persistent is the key.

I want to add more to this list.

    1) You have to work alone most of the time.
    2) Do not expect support or encouragement from your relatives and friends, because they don’t know about blogging.
    3) Be ready for ups and downs

and I agree with your other all points.

Agree to all your points, Ruchi. Lack of motivation is a major factor. One need to work hard and find things that work for his/ her blog. Following the trend that already prevail put us on back seat. Working with an aim now and hope i come out with flying colors soon ;)
