When you are looking to get more traffic to your blog there are a lot of options open to you. Most people choose to go for the free traffic driving methods such as search engine optimization and guest posting but there are other ways to drive traffic that you can pay for. When you do this you can make sure that you get a certain amount of traffic each day and you can also make sure that you are getting the right type of traffic. Here are a few options for those of you who are willing to invest a bit of money into their blog.
Stumble upon advertising
Stumble upon if you haven’t heard of it before is a social bookmarking site that allows its visitors to choose the topics they are interested in and then they will browse random websites in those topics. In this way they are going to see things that they are interested in. This is also an advantage to you as the advertiser because it means that people are only going to see your website if they are interested in the topic you are talking about. It is used by people from all around the world so you will get a wide variety of visitors. The charge for advertising on stumble upon is 5p a ‘stumble’ or 5p a view. The one thing you have to remember when using stumble upon for advertising is that you have to have something visually appealing on your blog otherwise stumblers are not going to stay for long. The advantage of stumble upon though is if you become popular through your advertising you could get naturally high rankings on stumble upon and then no longer have to pay for your traffic. Take a tour of StumbleUpon advertising.
This is almost a continuation of the stumble upon section because pay per view advertising is very similar. You pay for each time someone views your site of a thumbnail of your site. There are however plenty of other options available to you other than stumble upon. It allows you to advertise your site on other websites with a similar topic or you can do a keyword advertising campaign. With these extra options it gives you more chance to make sure you are receiving the right kind of traffic.
Pay For a Review
When you have a blog that you want to become an authority in your niche sometimes you have to work with the people who are already an authority to give you a leg up. One thing that many bloggers at the top of their niche offer is product or blog reviews. The great thing about this method of paid advertising is that you get to choose the site that your review goes on and sometimes you get to write the review yourself. This means that you get to choose a site that is established and already getting the type of traffic you want and you get to have some of that traffic come to your site instead. People usually use this method for product reviews but if you think your blog could benefit from this then what’s the harm?
Banner Advert on a Different blog in your Niche
This method of advertising I wouldn’t recommend for everyone because of a few factors. Firstly you may not get a lot of direct traffic from this method and secondly because people who click on these adverts are usually expecting to find a product on the other end of the link. The reason I put it here is because this is an excellent way to expand the branding of your blog. You get to put your logo and your blog title on an authority blog. If you make you banner very visual and eye catching then everyone who visits that blog will see it. That means that the trusted visitors on their site will start to trust you brand and if and when they do visit your blog then you will be in a great position to get them involved in your feed email sign ups etc. Just remember in blogging getting people to trust you is half the battle.
Just a cautionary note for anyone who is thinking of trying these method of traffic generation. While they are excellent ways of attracting visitors they also cost you money. You either have to make sure that you are making your money back through your blog and all of your income streams or you have to think of it as just a hobby and spend your own money on it.
