MyThemeShop : Quality WordPress Themes in Budget

106Shares

When it comes to WordPress themes, we have unlimited options. Depending upon your budget, you can pick a theme for $0 (Free themes) or you can spend thousands of dollars to get a custom looking WordPress theme for you. But, when it comes to masses, it’s cost-effective premium themes which come as a rescue.

I always advocated and prefer premium themes over free themes, as they are well-coded and comes with many features such as priority support, regular updates and so on. I remember the days when selecting the right theme for WordPress blog was tough, and only a few premium theme clubs were out there.

In last 2 years, we have seen a great number of quality WordPress themes club coming up, and one of them which caught my attention is MyThemeShop.

Before I share the detail about MyThemeShop, let me share what makes a premium theme premium?

Theme coding:

One of the major difference between a free theme and premium theme is the level of coding. Premium themes are a commercial product, and all the companies know the importance of proper coding to make it a great product.

These companies spend countless hours of time to code and launch a theme, and with time they keep rolling out updates to make the theme compatible with the latest version of WordPress.

Priority support:

Finding a good theme is relatively easy, but editing theme is like building a rocket for non-coders. Premium theme club like MyThemeShop comes with priority support, which helps you to forget about hard-core coding and focus on things you are good at.

SEO of the theme:

Your blog theme plays a great role in the over all ranking of your domain. If your theme is not coded properly regarding SEO, you are more likely to encounter penalty than higher ranking. Premium theme club makers take care of these, and have SEO experts in their team to integrate the latest SEO needs and making the theme search engine friendly.

Design:

I always emphasize on the importance of blog design. This is first non-textual communication between your blog and readers, and a bad design will not only upset them, but it will make sure they will never come back.

Premium theme clubs have multiple design options, and there is something for everyone. All you need to do is, pick the design which matches your niche and your personal taste.

I could go on with the features of a premium WordPress theme that make it stand out, but in a nutshell, these are some of the major key points on which I judge a good theme.

Now, let me share my experience & review of MyThemeShop, and will share some of the best-looking themes from their marketplace.

MyThemeShop review: WordPress Premium theme for everyone

You can always judge the popularity of a new company by the number of happy users. MyThemeShop has a customer base of over 74,000 members, which they have added in a short span of 1.5 years.

As a part of WordPress community, they have also released many free themes to give something back to the community. At the time of writing, they have more than 70+ themes, and all of them are compatible with latest web-standards such as Responsive, HTML5 markup, CSS3 and quick page loading.

To review MythemeShop themes, I downloaded their “Sensational” theme and installed it on my server to try and test out for this review. Here I’m sharing my experience of installing and configuring the theme.

As a non-coder blogger, this will help you to decide if Mythemeshop is worth your money & time or not. I will share the pricing and other membership details later, but first let me share how easy it was to configure a theme from MyThemeShop WordPress theme club.

When you download a theme from your member’s area, you will not only get the theme file, but it also comes with all necessary files, documentation, and most important change log.

I liked the idea of the change log, as you can quickly see what has been updated and do you need to update your theme to the latest version or not.

Using WordPress dashboard install theme feature, you can quickly upload the .zip file and theme will be installed. As a non-coder, the hardest part is to configure the theme properly, and MyThemeshop theme options panel is feature rich. Everything which you need to change can be done from the options panel itself.

One place where you might be stuck is the logo size, and you can either use free online logo maker service or hire someone from Fiverr to create a quality logo for you as low as $5.

My first impression of their theme options panel is; it’s created by someone who knows what a blogger needs. For example, ad management is indeed a great feature for a theme, and Mythemeshop took it to the next stage by letting you show ads only on posts after certain days.

This small but useful feature is user-friendly, and will be highly loved by your regular readers. If you are one of those who understands the importance of Typography, Mythemeshop let you configure your typography or make changes in the current one.

One of the best thing about MyThemeshop themes is, you don’t have to rely on plugins for doing things. For example, you need an author box, floating social media buttons, fixed navigation bar and much more; all these features can easily be switched on and off with one click from theme options panel.

Whenever I see a WordPress theme with so many features, my biggest fear is the page loading time, and MythemeShop excels in that area too. Check out the theme loading time which is less than 1 sec:

On a live site, you should also add W3 Total cache, ShortPixel and integrate CDN to ensure your blog loading time doesn’t exceed to a great extent.

Conclusion: After playing with theme options, and other settings,  In one hour of time, you will be able to create a stunning looking WordPress blog without any coding skills with MyThemeShop.  You will need one hour because you will be setting up WordPress menus, adding a logo, favicon and other theme settings.

Pricing and more details about MyThemeShop:

Pricing of MyThemeShop themes starts from $27-47/theme, or you can get one-year membership for $87 sign-up fees and $9/month afterward. The first option is perfect for an individual blogger, and membership option is great for WordPress developers and agencies who develop tons of client sites on WordPress.

I just love MyThemeShop! Their themes are the most smoothest and fastest themes I have ever used and I can use them for unlimited sites, and for just 9$ A MONTH!! Before I was buying on my theme forest which only have single license, so I have to buy again to use it!! -_-

  2. Paul

A company that seems to survive, even thrive, on smoke and mirrors tactics – aka lies. Here are just a few examples.

    1. I asked if purchasing a pro thene required an annual license. They replied for support only and that the theme could be used forever from a one off payment. Not true! You cannot update without extending the license. Small money but a big lie.

    2. I asked if things like meta data can be removed in Pro version. They replied it can with a simple tick box system. Again, not true. It requires CSS. It got fixed but why dont they just tell the truth pre-sale?

    3. The biggest untruth is that they show the paid/pro versions in their “free” theme demos. If they have a free version then they should show that in the free version demo. Or make it very clear the (so called) free demo is not actually the free version.

All round shocking levels of deceipt involved.

      Hey Paul,

It is really unfortunate that you found them deceitful. My experience with them was totally opposite – thank God. I wanted to share my experience as well so people can see other side of the coin as well.

      1. I don’t get why they charge for updates as well but I certainly understand it. I would prefer free lifetime updates but the fee is low and I am getting access to their support which makes it worth it for me. They openly said that their support and updates would cost although I could use the theme for lifetime. I am not paying for any updates for one of the plugins I have from them and it is working okay even without the yearly fee.

      2. You can’t really remove meta data with CSS either. It is hard coded and meant to be seen by search engines. So, no good hiding it from visitors using CSS. I am going to go out on a limb here and say that there must have been a confusion.

      3. I don’t agree with you here. I have the theme up and running like their demo. Some of their themes show premium plugins as part of their demo but their theme page and ToS openly says that premium plugins aren’t included. You should have done your research.

I am a member of multiple theme clubs and I found mythemeshop at par with all major providers if not above them in honestly, support & quality of products.

MyThemeShop is the best. I am using them at this time and feel good about them. The are great.

        1. Andi

You should try Cssigniter or Elegantthemes. Their pricing is fair, no hidden cost like mounthly payment after take lifetime package like themeshop. It is really annoying.

Thanks harsh for this nice article
I buy schema theme from mythemeshop and this theme beat all themes in terms of speed
Without any caching plugins my site load time is 1 sec after using caching and cdn service I decreased my site load time to 400mm
I am really a fan of mythemeshop

  4. Atul

MyThemeShop really has some beautiful themes but I have noticed one issue with their all themes that It makes WordPress backend slow for 2 – 3 seconds.

    1. Dorian

I can confirm that too. I think it is related to the fact that the theme tries to connect to their server. As coders often say: “It’s a feature, not a bug”.

  5. Edmond

Mythemeshop is the best. What i like with their themes is its responsiveness. Unlike other themes, it looks beautiful and attractive in a mobile no matter what kind of browser you are using.

It makes things easy for non-coders like me. I appreciate their work and i can say, go and try it you will never regret.

  6. Bilqees Kenchi

I think mogoze, pinstagram and Rubine are perfect themes ever for magazine site and using on my site perfect theme with perfect ads widgets and places.

    Hey Harsh

I am going to upgrade to a premium. I am on a free one, but I ran a checker on the site and there was just tons of errors. The only thing it seems to do really right is very mobile compatible.

I keep seeing Schema recommended. It is sitting as recommended at the top on a ton of sites ranking high, but when I check them, I typically find Genesis platform, child theme.

Which is the case with your site. I knew that before coming here, you run Genesis, a custom child theme and are quite low on plugins. I believe Jetpack is one of them, probably for the increased mobile friendliness.

This is kind of problematic for me, because whether its Schema on one blog, or Genesis isn’t really a issue of cost, since I just need one really good one. The cost difference on one is not that much.

The problem is, I see many recommending Schema, most of those recommending running Genesis. I can see, if something isn’t broken and working great for a long time, pain in the butt to use different and maybe Genesis and customized is just right for you.

But here is what I plan. I want a very good, very fast premium theme I can run on minimal necessary plugins to optimize beyond that as well as the plugins will help. Maybe Yoast, I don’t know.

What I don’t see Schema or Genesis describe is how much SEO or User Optimization they do.

I will bookmark this page and come back. I would really appreciate a reply on this one if you can. One blog, one really good premium theme. Currently thinking, either Schema or Genesis.

You are not the first site I went to. I went to about 6 others on this. Most had Schema at the top, most running Genesis. I knew you had Genesis, so I figured, final answer, what does Harsh say about it, since most of these guys are probably getting their information from you anyhow.

      @James
      too late to reply..Sigh!!

Anyways, you know the answer.. Don’t you?? 🙂

      Genesis it is!

I suggest you that never buy any theme through mytheme shop.I buy newspaper theme through mythemeshop and use it on my site top10wonderlist.com but on homepage, adsense code not working. When I ask for refund, they refuse.
If you think, If any problem found you ask for refund, they never refund.
Its irritates me a lot and also cost me 47$.

    1. Harsh Agrawal

      @Narveer
Sad to hear your disappointing experience with them. So what did you do now?? Have you purchased some other theme or using any free one?

      1. Narveer Singh

        @ Harsh
I am still using that theme which I buy, Because In my Blogging Career, I Buy First time anytheme and I use this theme until I get new one.
Would you suggest me, which is other site which is selling wordpress theme cheap and good for viral site.

        1. Himadri Saha

I Naveer, I had a look at your site and found that you are still using the theme from MyThemeShop. Did you ask your problem in their help forum? Cause if you face any problem about the theme, you should ask their help forum and they fix your problem. I am also using the TruePixelTheme from MyThemeShop and some of the features were not working. So, I asked in the forum and they had solved my problem manually. They are quite helpful. I hope they have also solved your problem. I can see you are also using WP subscriber plugin from them 🙂

          1. Andy

He probably did. They never reply. Mythemeshop is jst a con, a rip off.

          2. Jonas

I’ve got an issue with MyThemeShop. I bought a theme to see how it would be to customize it, now that I’ve seen that it’s not what I want. I knew that it had a “30 Day Money Back Guarentee”, so I assumed that if I didn’t like it I could get a refund.

Well, they’re basically telling me that “Please stay advised; we offer refunds only if the theme/plugin doesn’t work as advertised or if we aren’t able to fix the issues you might face after installing it.”

Who the f*** does that? What a misleading way to use a Money Back Guarantee as a selling point. Any one who has been able to get a refund? Would love to hear how you got that.

          3. Soumendra Mishra

@andy: If anyone starts a ticket in the support forum, it definitely gets answered.

Also, if the support cannot help with your issues, then if you ask for a refund within 30 days, then they refund a full amount for your purchase. I had some issues with the Mega Menu plugin and I also gets refunded. So the company is good but we are only blaming as per our experience. And I suggest all go through the refund policy clearly before purchasing a product.

@Narveer: I suggest you start a ticket in the forum again. You’ll definitely get your resolution.

Also, I have got an email from Eric, MyThemeShop that they are going to upgrade their software, so I think 50% of the issues will be fixed after that. They have also refunded $20 to me just because I support them by resubscribing to their new license.

  9. kiran

hello harsh, thanks for sharing important things.I have question, which is more user freindly theme in between genesis and mythemeshop

  10. Milind

    Hi Harsh.
I’ve been searching for free wordpress themes to start a blog. Then i got good theme from mythemeshop.
I want to use free theme(JustBlue free theme) from mythemeshop to start my blog & then after 6-8 i’ll buy premium version. So, Is there any license problem if i use it on my blog?

    1. Harsh Agrawal

      @Milind
No problem with this strategy. The only problem with free theme is, you won’t get support from their team.

  11. Johnny Lloyd

Hi I am considering using the justfit theme for my single physical product website and blog. Do you think it would be hard for someone who doesn’t have a drop of coding or design skill to use that theme?

    Thank you

  12. Amol Gopale

What I like about mythemeshop is that they also have free options for you to review the quality of their themes. Buying the premium ones is the best option once you are done with that.

  13. MOHANRAJ

thanks Harsh for your review. Finally bought Schema Theme and Applied on my blog. Its Rocking cool and awesome. Satisfied with speed and performance 🙂

    1. Edward

I’m also using Schema..but it seems it’s got some issues with the speed! It is not much different than Swift Premium that i was using.

  14. Nitin Mohan

  16. Rahul Nair

What happens if you pick up ripped themes from various websites? I mean it’s basically a paid theme which can be downloaded.

Are there any type of consequences that people would face with something like this?

  17. Vishwajeet Kumar

I am a huge fan of the Mythemeshop and currently using their theme on my blog. It is easy to manage and come with great functionality.
