BuySellAds Review: Advertisement Program for Bloggers

When it comes to making money from advertisements, direct advertisement plays a major role. For me, direct advertisement pays more than Adsense or any other ads. Most toughest job is to finding a direct advertisers. Here I’m going to add a review of BuySellAds which is an advertisement buy-sell marketplace. I’m using BuySellAds from last one and half-year and it’s always been one of the highest paying Ad network for me.

BuySellads is an advertisement marketplace where publishers can list their sites and advertisers can come and check the stats and directly buy your advertisement spots. Once, advertisement is sold, you have an option to accept or reject the ad. I will always suggest to accept ads which are relevant to your niche and most important should not be spammy like “free smiley downloads” and similar stuff. The moment, you accept the ads, it will start showing on your site and money will be credited into your BuySelll account.

This is a really nice concept and a useful website for Bloggers and for marketers to find the marketplace for buying advertisements.

Direct advertisement can be acquire by sending personal advertisement email or by using any third party advertisement program to sell advertisement. Such third-party advertisement program create a market place to buy sell advertisement.

Unlike other ad networks, getting approved BuySellAds account is not easy. You need to have a quality website with nice design. If you miss out any of these, your application will be rejected.

Is BuySellAds a free service?

BuySellads works as middle man to process this automatic ad buying and selling and for this, they charge 25% of transaction. Which is fair as many other ad networks charge 30-40%. You don’t have to pay anything to use their service but when an advertiser buys an ad from your site, Buysellads will take 25% as a commission. So, if you are setting up your ad price as $100/30 days, you will be getting $75 into your account. So, you can set the price accordingly. I suggest to start with minimum limit and once 1 ad slot is sold, increase the price by 10%.

Buysellads keeps a percentage of money you made from selling ad as a part of their commission, which is fair enough as instead of keeping your ad spots empty you are making money out of it.

How to use BuySellAds?

Go to Buysellads website and sign up for an account. Add your website and add proper tags and details and submit it. It usually takes 4-5 working days for them to reply to your application. Once your BuySellads application is approved, you can login to buysellads account. Add a Zone: Zone is basically ad slot that you are offering. For example, if you are selling 125*125 ad in sidebar, you can make a zone like: “125Sidebar-Top”.

How to add BuySellads code to your Website?

Once you have created a Zone, click on Action> Install ad codes. You will find two different codes there. Header code should go in the header of your blog. This code you have to add only one time. Now add the zone code to your sidebar using your WordPress text-widget. You can always use CSS to style your ad zone. If not, you can also use BuySellAds WordPress plugin to quickly add ads into your WordPress site.

You can see also see the stats for BuySellads click which will give you an idea how good and how bad your ad spots are performing and you can play with the placement to increase the CTR and thus increase the price of your ads. Always remember, above the fold ads perform better than below the fold ads.

Ad options under BuySellAds:

BuySellad offers different kind of ad options apart from normal banner. You can offer ad placement for Text ads, Text+image ads, RSS ads and Tweet ad. Tweet ad and RSS feed are recent addition by them. BuySellAds Twitter ad program is similar as Sponsored Tweets program & you can learn more about BuySellAds sponsored tweet program here.

BuySellAds Ad options Personally, I recommend you to use Image only ads as they keep your blog design neat and clean.  Sponsored tweet program is again highly recommended as most of the time when an advertiser buys an ad space, he also buy a sponsored tweets.

BuySellads offer you payout via PayPal and in a month you can make two checkout. You can use the same funds to buy ads on other site. I would highly recommend you to try this program as after using  this program for 1 year, I’m still using it and recommending to others. Sadly, they don’t have any affiliate program for publishers or advertisers.

If you are looking for Adsense alternative programs, I would suggest you to try Infolinks on your blog. Meanwhile, if you don’t like the idea of giving 25% commission to BuySellAds, you can also look into OIO publisher WordPress Plugin but you need to have a popular website, else BuySellads is a nice choice as its marketplace might not keep your website out of ads.

Have you ever used BuySellads of using it? What’s your review on BuySellads? How would you rate it on a scale of 10?

Very informative review. I tried to apply for Buysellads before, but did not get approved. I think the reasons is that the design of my blog was not suitable. I’m making another blog that will suit for their requirements and hope to be approved soon.

Hi Harsh what is the perfect traffic level at which a blogger should apply for BSA?

    Reply
    • Harsh Agrawal

      Hey Rahul
Some time back I submitted one niche blog (Web-Hosting) <5000 traffic/month and they accepted it. That site was professionally designed, good number of followers and niche articles. Traffic was targeted and useful.
So they consider many factors before approving the site. If you maintain an active and quality site, BuySellAds is something which you would like to try.

    Hello Harsh,
Thanks for sharing your success, Mr. Harsh.
What can you suggest for the sites which are already getting good revenue from the side bar and the top ads of AdSense program? Will BuySell Ads have a negative impact on the other ad networks, or will add more to the income? Will the site be overcrowded with the ads if we do not want to remove the existing units?
    regards……..

Sir my Page Rank is 1 and Alexa Rank is approx 5,30,000 worldwide and 29k in India. Can I apply for BuySellAds and how much amount for 125*125 ad slot should I decide. Please suggest me ????

    • Harsh Agrawal

@Ankur Your stats doesn’t tell anything about traffic..How much traffic do you get and whats your niche and most imp, traffic source from which country… These are some factors which will help you in deciding price…and then ad placement will play a major role in finalizing the price… :)

Nice review of buysellads. It is really not very easy to get approved these days. They pay much attention to the traffic volume for the site of blog to get approved. So I don’t think it makes sense for any one even to apply before they have completed at least an year since the launch of their site or blog unless you are getting a real high traffic already.

    Reply
    • Harsh Agrawal

Maninder I might not agree with traffic stats: For example I have many blogs with less than 5K traffic in BSA…. They usually consider the niche, design and obviously overall ranking…

@Priyangshu For now, it’s not wrong to call it the best direct advertising marketplace… Though in recent days I have noticed less ads are sold via buySellads…may be coz of many reasons but still they are selling decent no. of ads..
Meanwhile are you also using sponsored tweets from BuySellAds? For me, it’s working great…

I just registered today and trying to find out more about the service.

Last time I heard you had to find your own advertisers but hopefully they’ve changed. What’s the point in giving them 25% if you have to find your own advertisers
    .

    • Harsh Agrawal

@Michael It’s not the same anymore…now buyer will usually find your site via BuySellads marketplace and it’s good.. Though I would suggest start with 2 ad spot and see how it works..

My point is don’t register in any such ad networks before getting popularity.

    • Harsh Agrawal

      @Tech InkAPoint
I have a different opinion on this. 125*125 ad never distract readers and moreover there is no limit for popularity. I might suggest not too use adsense for couple of months and beginning but I will suggest use 125*125 banner from the beginning. If buysell ads doesn’t approve you, use any affiliate link banner and use it..

What rates do u suggest for 3 month old blog

    Reply
    • Harsh Agrawal

Sandeep rate depends on lots of things like
      Traffic
      Ad position
      Ad Size

So You can browse their market place and that will give you an idea.
