Leadpages vs. OptimizePress: Which One Is Better For Creating Landing Pages?

77Shares

Here is quick comparison of OptimizePress Vs. Leadpages

In the recent past, I have shared must know tools & tricks of Landing pages. If you haven’t started using Landing pages for various purposes, it’s the high time that you should start taking advantage of landing pages. In today’s chapter, I will compare two popular landing page creator tool: LeadPages Vs.OptimizePress. so, without further due let’s get started with this neck to neck battle of top landing page creator tools.

No matter how good your product or content is, its success is still going to be made or broken by one key element on your website:

  • Your landing page.

It’s the page that determines whether your reader converts or bounces away to spend their time at someone else’s site.

Creating great landing pages used to be something you had to pay designers hundreds of dollars to do… for every single landing page!

But today, a number of tools have popped up that help even non-designers create beautiful, conversion-boosting landing pages. I’ve recently talked about some of the most popular landing page creators, but today I want to dig into two specific options:

I’ll compare the two tools in a few different areas so you can pick the option that’s best for your specific situation.

And while Leadpages is a standalone service, they offer a WordPress plugin which makes it easy to integrate your WordPress site with Leadpages.

  • Lead capture popups.

OptimizePress Overview: Powerful, But Only Works With WordPress Sites

There’s one major point you need to keep in mind when reading about OptimizePress:

It only works with WordPress sites. Given how many websites use WordPress nowadays, that’s probably not a huge issue. But if you do run a custom solution, you won’t be able to use OptimizePress.

After that caveat, let’s talk about all of the many highlights of OptimizePress.

Like Leadpages, OptimizePress allows you to create conversion-ready landing pages via a simple drag and drop editor.

OptimizePress also helps you set up well-structured sales funnels, membership site portals, and online courses.

All the designs you create with OptimizePress are mobile friendly, so you won’t miss out on any conversions.

And if you’re not sure where to get started with your design, OptimizePress includes 30 templates to get you started.

Here are some other notable OptimizePress features:

  • Mailing integrations with major email marketing services.
  • Analytics integrations with VWO, Optimizely, and Kissmetrics.
  • Drip fed and locked content for membership sites.
  • Both theme and plugin versions for WordPress.

How do Leadpages and OptimizePress compare?

Now that you know a little bit about each service, I’ll compare the two in five different areas:

  1. Usability – How easy is it to create and customize landing pages with each service?
  2. Templates – How do each service’s template listings compare?
  3. Flexibility – How flexible is each system? Can you use it to create different types of pages?
  4. Price – How much are you going to pay for all these features?
  5. Ownership – Do you still own your landing pages if you quit the service?

Usability – Leadpages Wins (for ease of use)

I stated earlier that both services include drag and drop editors. And while both are fairly easy to use, I have to give the edge to Leadpages for just how quickly you can set up a landing page.

With Leadpages, you can have a beautiful landing page finished in literally minutes. Changing text, pictures, and other elements is easy with their user-friendly interface.

For example, I was able to quickly create these landing pages with Leadpages:

  • Are You A Blogger?
  • Free Ebook: WordPress Guide For Beginners

Manipulating landing pages with OptimizePress’ 40+ elements is also easy, but more time consuming.

Final Verdict: If you want to get beautiful landing pages up as quickly and easily as possible, Leadpages is the clear winner. If you’re willing to spend a little extra time creating pages, you’ll be happy with either.

Templates – Slight Edge to Leadpages (for more free templates)

If you look at the landing page for each service, it might seem like Leadpages is the runaway winner. But it’s actually a very close contest.

Leadpages advertises over 350+ available templates spanning categories like sales, opt-in, webinar, upsell, thank you, launch, and pre-cart. But only around 100 of these templates are included in your membership – the rest typically cost between $10 – $15 per template.

Contrast that with OptimizePress’ 30+ included templates, and you’ll wonder why I’m calling this a draw. It’s because OptimizePress also offers something called the OptimizePress Marketplace, which includes hundreds of additional templates spanning categories like general landing pages, membership sites, webinars, sales pages, thank you pages, and more.

These templates also cost around $10 – $15 per template.

Final Verdict: Leadpages has the slight advantage because it includes 100 free templates vs OptimizePress’ 30 free templates. But, when you include paid templates, both services offer a similar amount and variety.

Flexibility – Leadpages for Multi-Platform, OptimizePress for Membership Sites

It’s hard to declare a clear winner for this section. Both services are flexible in some areas and inflexible in others.

If you don’t use WordPress or want to create landing pages for other platforms, you’ll love that Leadpages is platform independent. You can use it with whatever web system you want. Or, if you don’t have a website, you can even have Leadpages host your landing pages for you.

But if you want to be able to create pages beyond standard landing pages, you’ll love OptimizePress. Not only does it let you create membership sites, it also includes a wizard to help you set up a complete sales funnel. While you can still set up a sales funnel with Leadpages, it’s nowhere near as straightforward.

Final Verdict: Leadpages wins if you want multi-platform. OptimizePress wins if you want sales funnels or membership sites.

Pricing – OptimizePress (costs less, no recurring fees)

There’s no battle when it comes to pricing. OptimizePress is the clear winner for affordability.

OptimizePress costs $97 for use on up to three sites. This is a one time fee. Once you pay the $97, you never need to spend another cent unless you opt to pay the optional $39/yearly fee for support and upgrades.

Whereas with Leadpages, the cheapest plan is $37/month. You can get discounts for paying for a year upfront, but you’d still need to pay ~$300 per year.

Final Verdict: If you’re on a budget, there’s no contest. OptimizePress is by far the more affordable solution.

Ownership – OptimizePress (you own forever)

Ownership is a major concern when comparing these two plugins.

Here’s why:

With OptimizePress, you own all the pages you create forever. You host them on your own site, own all the content, and never need to pay another cent to continue using them.

Unfortunately, this is not the case with Leadpages. Leadpages technically hosts all of your landing pages, even if you integrate them to work with your own domain name. This means that if you ever cancel your Leadpages membership, you’ll lose all of your pages.

Essentially, you don’t permanently own these pages – you’re just leasing them for the duration of your Leadpages subscription.

Final Verdict: OptimizePress is the clear winner here. With it, you own your pages forever.

Which Landing Page Creator Should You Choose?

Both creators have their benefits. There’s not a clear-cut winner for 100% of scenarios. But if you’re still undecided, here are my general thoughts:

If you use WordPress and are willing to spend a little more time on your landing pages, I think you should pick OptimizePress. It’s more affordable, offers a similar range of paid templates, and you’ll own your landing pages forever.

On the other hand, if you need a tool that will work with platforms other than WordPress, or just want the quickest way to create beautiful landing pages, you should pick Leadpages. You’ll pay more money, but you’ll get the absolute best interface. And if you move up to the more expensive plans, you’ll get integrated A/B testing to really skyrocket your conversion rates.

Have you used either of these landing page creators? Which was your favorite? Let me know in the comments!
