Though there is a gadget from Google which you can use on your blog, to give an option for language translation. Google translate gadget is easy to use, and if you have widget ready theme, you can simple add it on your blog widget.

me was also having Global Translator plugin on mine blog but later removed it due to same SEO issues. I think this is best alternative
It is really a great widget. Without doing anything apart from installing widget we can transform our page into any language.
