In this post I will answer how to increase your Alexa rank,

Unlike technorati whose rank mostly depend on the number of backinks , Alexa has more or less depend on traffic and people surf your website using Alexa toolbar.

Alexa Toolbar collect all the usage data and it plays a vital role to rank websites, in my previous blog I used alexa toolbar and I have seen my Alexa rank gone to under 1k within 2 months and it’s a nice advice if you ask your regular readers to use alexa toolbar that will also help getting your site read by alexa toolbar reader.

As mentioned on their site i.e.
“Alexa’s traffic rankings are based on the usage patterns of Alexa Toolbar users and data collected from other, diverse sources over a rolling 3 month period.
A site’s ranking is based on a combined measure of reach and pageviews.
Reach is determined by the number of unique Alexa users who visit a site on a given day.
Pageviews are the total number of Alexa user URL requests for a site.
However, multiple requests for the same URL on the same day by the same user are counted as a single pageview”.

I don’t think there is any rocket science. If someone wants to boost his alexa rank, he must increase his technology oriented visitors base like webmasters, technology geeks etc. Because these are the people who certainly have the alexa toolbar installed….
