Few days back we informed you about the release of WordPress3.0 beta 1 and now many of you (WordPress geeks) are planning to try their hand on this version. Upgrading your live site to this beta version is not advisable but if you are like me who wants to see everything first hand, I’m sure you will love to upgrade your blog to Beta3.0 version.
For this tutorial I’m not upgrading Shoutmeloud to the latest version but will be using another site to try WordPress3.0 beta 1.
To get started with WordPress upgrade to the beta Version, download and install this plugin or install this plugin from Dashboard. < WordPress Beta Tester>.
Go to Tools> Beta testing and change the option to “Bleeding edge nightlies”. Make sure you have a complete backup of your blog and don’t try it on a busy and live site.
Once you have downloaded and installed this plugin, click on Tools>upgrade from wordpress dashboard and now you can upgrade your blog to the latest 3.0 Beta 1 version.
If you have done everything right, you will have a WordPress blog with WordPress 3.0 beta 1 release.
Now you can try all amazing features of WordPress 3.0. Do let us know when are you planning to upgrade to WordPress 3.0 ?
You can also hire us for WordPress upgrade service.

Very useful post harsh.
Harsha….I already upgraded to beta 3.0,using BetaTester Plugin.
Is your blog on Wordpress 3.0 beta 1??
Do share us your views on the experience
I would not recommend upgrading to the beta in a live blog since it may contain a lot of bugs you do not know what can happen with your blog. If you do really feel the urge of testing the version you should install it in a free hosting or a install in a separate folder in your host now in the live site.
yup could not agree more.
It might effect your plugin and theme.
so better test it on a new blog or free hosting
I dont know if any issues with my current wordpress dashboard as me is not seeing any wordpress upgrade to 3.0 And if everything is fine at mine end then i wud suggest all not to upgrade it to any version till WP developers ask us to do so.
ATUL
Thanks for the info dude!! I just upgraded someone’s WP 2.9.2 blog to 3.0 RC2. Works great!!! I heart the default Twenty Ten theme. It’s brilliant.
Install it in a local wordpress 2.9.2, changed the option to BLEEDING EDGE but not version 3 is found
