Tutorial to show how to submit your sitemap to Bing

I assume you know how to generate sitemap, if not use Google XML sitemap generator plugin (wordpress).

Sign in to Bing webmaster tool,

    http://www.bing.com/webmaster

    bing_webmaster_tool

You can use your existing MSN/Hotmail account to login, else create a new one.

Once you are logged in, click on add new site

In the next page, submit all the details, and click on submit.

In the next page, it will ask you for the verification method. There are two methods which you can use, one of by uploading a file and another one is by adding a meta tag into your header file.

Depend on your preference, you can select any of the two method. Uploading XML file is much easier option , download the xml verification file and upload it to the root of your site. For this method, you can take help of Free FTP client : FileZilla.

It’s funny because my blog is already at Bing. I guess if your blog/site is already at Windows Live search, then you don’t need to do anything

Yes Most of the blogs are allready over Bing, but not all pages got in there… !! and also not the outgoing /incoming links.. After submitting it to the Bing WEbmaster, they can let their spider crawl thru out your blogs to link them all :)

can’t understand what you are saying can you expand bit further, that is where meta tag should be added in which section that is below the head or in the body.

Any meta tag’s live in the tag of the HTML document. I doubt you should be messing with something you have no knowledge of so best to keep to uploading the XML file instead.

    Hi,

Anyone else notice that the new Bing interface does not seem to have a sitemap submission facility anymore- it seems to have been dropped. Pity if its gone buy maybe I I am looking in the wrong place?

Harsh, I submitted my site to Bing however it didn’t ask me to enter sitemap xml link. I was required to enter only the website URL so not sure if it automatically discovered the sitemap url or not.

I have a website that’s totally not showing on bing. I always figured that the “xml Google site map” was enough to index in the search engines. Thanks for the info
