How to Increase Blog’s Organic Traffic using Google Analytics

    By in SEO

This is a guest post by Garish who blogs at Vast9. If you would like to write for ShoutmeLoud, check our adsense revenue sharing program.

Google Analytics is, no doubt, the best place to check website’s or blog’s analytics data (like visitors, page views & many more statistical reports). Using it, you can easily discover from where the visitor’s are coming to your blog & how they are surfing your pages & what really catches their attraction in your blog.

Using such details, you can easily increase your traffic & even increase your revenue from ads (if you are tracking clicks). I am going to show you exactly how you can increase your blog’s organic traffic through google analytics. I assume that you have already logged in to your analytics account.

Increasing Organic Traffic from Google Search :

Go to your Blog’s reports in google analytics & then go to your traffic sources page. Now check your search traffic. you can now see the keywords for which your blog was searched & the corresponding post or page it leads to. Make a list of all the keywords & corresponding posts mentioned here. To explain further let me take an example. Suppose you have got search traffic on a keyword ‘How to use google analytics’ for your post named ‘how to use google analytics on WordPress’. Now what you have to do is, go to your blog’s dashboard & edit this post. You, now have to insert this keyword (or related to it) one or more times in your post & also make them bold or underlined (as google gives them priority). Also make sure you put this keyword in the meta description of this post. Now save this post. Also if you have another related posts on google analytics, go & edit them & add a link back to the first post with the anchor text as the keyword ‘How to use Google Analytics’ or a related one.
Now after a few hours or rather a few days, you will see an increased number of organic  visits to that post on that keyword through google. Also your ranking for that keyword in google will have been raised to a few positions. So you can repeat this step for other posts which gets some google traffic.

Increasing traffic from Google Image search :

Go to your Blog’s dashboard in google analytics & then go to your traffic sources page. Now check the keywords referred by Google image search & the corresponding image that it lead to. Now go to your blog’s dashboard & edit that image’s alt tag & caption text & add that keyword in both. Also, if the image is in a post, give proper height & width tag to that image along with the dimensions as this will increase the chances of your image coming up when someone use advanced image search for exact dimensions match. Repeat this step for other images that are getting image search traffic. This way you will see a lot improvement in the search traffic for that image.

So these were the ways, that can definitely help you get increased organic & targeted traffic to your blog.

Nice post on google analytics. Google analytics is very helpful in many other things too. You can check unique vistiors, from which location they are coming from, on which page they are spending time and where they are bouncing back. So it is very helpful indeed.

Hi Garish! Thanks for your nice sharing! However, the traffic from image search can be considered as the low quality traffic in terms of making money or product marketing. Is that worth for us to improve the image search?

Organic Traffic is always beneficial. Image search traffic helps a lot & it should not be neglected. It can increase your international visitors, alexa rank & thus more advertisers. Moreover if you are using watermarks of your url on your images, and if someone copies it on his own blog through image search, it can really boost your blog’s traffic dramatically.
