Don’t know HTML and can’t code in FBML, but still you want to make your Facebook Fan age look attractive? Wish you could just type in text and paste some pictures and your Welcome Page is ready? Static HTML WYSIWYG Editor can help you in this situation. Using it, you can create Static Pages on your Facebook Fan Page and then make it The Default Welcome Page for new users.

For those who don’t know, WYSIWYG stands for What You See Is What You Get and this full name makes it clear that it doesn’t require in any coding to be done. Just type in your message, add some links and pictures and you’re ready to go. In this Tutorial, I am going top show you how you can add Static HTML Pages to your Facebook Fan Page, Edit it without any coding and then setting it up as the default entry page (Welcome Page).

Adding The App To Your Facebook Fan Page:

Click here to go to the Application and Approve it to access your Basic Information (make sure you’re logged in Facebook and are the admin of the page in which you want to add the static page). After that, you’ll see a page (see screenshot below) where you have to choose your Fan Page name from the Drop Down List. After selecting the Name, click on Register and then in the next page click on ‘Return To The Main Page’.

Now, you’ll able to see your Fan Page name under ‘Facebook Page Name’ Table on the first page.

    Editing The Static Page

To Edit the Static Page, you need to click on the ‘Edit’ Button on the right side of the Facebook Page Name (see screenshot):

After Clicking on The Edit Button, You’ll see two Text Areas where you have to enter the HTML which will appear on the Static Page. But don’t worry if you don’t want to type in the HTML or don’t know HTML, just click on The Button – ‘WYSIWYG Mode’ and now you’ll see a New Interface which will allow you to add Links , Photos and add style to your Static Page. Now, All you have to do is Type in Whatever You Want.

There Are Two Text Boxes – The Top one will be shown to the Visitors who have already liked your page (returning visitors) and the second one will be shown to the visitors who are new to your Facebook Fan Page and haven’t liked it yet.Don’t Forget to choose – “If user have not liked, below content will be shown” from the Option given in between the Two Text Boxes (see screenshot).

    Update The Page

To Apply the Changes, Click on The ‘Update’ Button at the bottom of the page. And then click here and then click on the ‘Add’ Button (see screenshot):

After that, You’ll be asked to choose a page in which you want to add the Static HTML. Choose the page from the drop down list and then click on the ‘Add Static HTML’ button. Click on The ‘Static HTML’ Tab (see screenshot above) and then check whether it’s working or not. If it’s working, Great! If it’s not, then see whether you have updated it or not.

If you are not able to see the Tab Bar and are using ‘Facebook Clear’, then I recommend you to remove it.

To change the name of the Page,  go to the Static HTML Page, and click on ‘Edit Info’ (see screenshot):

After that, click on the ‘Apps’ Tab on the Right of the Settings Page. And in the Apps, look for Static HTML and then click on ‘Edit settings’. You’ll now see a pop up where you can edit the name of the Tab. Change It To ‘Welcome’ or any other name you want. After that click on ‘Save’ Button and then on ‘Okay’.

Set It As The Default Page

To set it as the Welcome Page, again go to the Static HTML Page, click on ‘Edit Info’ and the from the Tab Bar on the right side, click on Manage Permissions. There you’ll find a option – ‘Default Landing Tab’. There, you need to choose the Static HTML (renamed) and then click on Save Changes. And now you’re ready to go! You can see the Static HTML in action on the UrbnGeek’s Facebook Fan Page.

Thanks Abhishek for sharing this. But I was really looking for things like whether I can add videos, or whether I can put my opt-in box or maybe offer a free e-book to build my subscriber base, etc through this application.
