More people should be educated about the “hosts” file & how useful it is for privacy security etc etc.
I prefer to manually block websites I find annoying or suspicious by editing the hosts file.

Having said that it is often necessary to use a web browser plugin to find the sites that need to be blocked…. Trust NO ONE.

A browser plugin like Ghostery will show you a list of all the domain names who track , tag , monitor & spy on you whilst researching “stuff” on the web.
Ghostery blocked 19 domains on this page , 2 of them were from facebook & 4 of them were from google.
    Facebook & Google are Skynet

@Kunal – if you use it basically re-routes the request to the localhost i.e. the PC that you are trying to browse the page from and will most likely fail (unless you have a local web server configured).
