Blogging Income Report of February 2009

Reading an income report is always motivating. At the same time, it also gives you ideas for generating revenue online. I have started sharing my report because I believe it would help my blog readers, and you would know how blog and bloggers are making money.

I have started monetizing ShoutMeLoud from the last week of January 2009. I have not made any significant money till now because I’m more into building my reader base rather than hitting my readers with lots of advertisement.

Apart from ShoutMeLoud, I have also started another blog Chromoz, and I hope to see some improvement in my source of income next month. Moreover, you will soon see Adsense replaced by Affiliate and direct advertisement as they are the best ways to make good money

So here goes my Income report for February 2009.

I’m calculating this income on the basis of stats and sales I have made. I will receive this income after 2 months (Most of below advertising network have a hold policy of 60 days).

————————————————————

Total = 434$

Looking at the above figure I’m not happy with BuySellAds performance because it sold my top header ad space at a very cheap rate. I might consider changing it after this cycle.

Talking about Adsense, I have now removed Adsense from ShoutMeLoud feeds, as it was not performing very well and was not reader-friendly. Recently, I tried Interest-based advertising in Google Adsense, however, it didn’t perform very well for me. Right now I’m experimenting with Adsense to find out which ad placement and colours will do best for me.

I was using Chitika earlier and then shifted to Infolinks because of the performance.

I will also be targeting more on affiliate marketing because that’s one of the best ways to make money online.

Meanwhile, if you are looking for advertising with ShoutMeLoud: You can check Advertise with ShoutMeLoud page.

I know it is not an impressive figure but I’m happy with it because I’m not targeting advertisement program more. Apart from it, this income stats is for the month of Feb when I was working full time with a tech company Convergys Technologies and was blogging as a part-time job.

I just signed up for Clickbank and I will be targeting more on HubPages, SEO services, and WordPress services to make most out of blogging.

You can also check out my entire income reports here.

I would like to know your success stories and what are your source of income.

Was this helpful?

Thanks for your feedback!

I am blogging since December month and I follow your SEO tips. By seeing your revenue for the first year(2009) and comparing the same to 2017 revenue.I understood one thing that “you have to be hardworking and at the same time you have to be patient for your earnings.”

    Hi, Harsh

Nice to see your first blog earning report, But i have some question,

I saw you registered your domain on November 30, 2008
    https://who.is/whois/shoutmeloud.com

Now the question is how you earned 434$ in just short time of 2-3 months, how is this possible, I read about your journey you wrote that you don’t know about SEO and money making tricks at that time, So In that short period of time how would you know about affiliate marketing and money making tricks.

How would you know about SEO and indexing tricks to make your blog visible fast on google and other search engines and also your wrote in your journey that your motto was not making money from your blog it was just your hobby so as a human tendency how you thought about making money through your blog, I think your report shows that you better known about all money making tricks and website like Commission Junction & Infolinks etc..

Could you please tell me that how many post you have posted on your blog up to FEB-2009 and You also mentioned some where in your blog that shoutmeloud had been rejected 2-3 times by google adsense so how you got approved your google adsense account in 2-3 months.

This analysis about your income report shows that you are ERRING to other bloggers .

Correct me if i am wrong.

    Regards,
    Pooja

      @Pooja
I appreciate digging down so much & come up with this sensible question.
I started blogging on BlogSpot blog and later on Shifted to ShoutMeLoud.com (Self hosted WordPress). When I purchased my first hosting, I started writing about it & that’s where the affiliate sales started coming. I knew this as a referring income & later on learned that it’s affiliate marketing. That jargon were new to me, but I adopted them really fast, as I used to spend 5-6 hours daily after my office hours learning about blogging & online marketing. I used to analyze all top blogs back then, & see how & what they are doing. Things that made sense to me, I implemented them.
I guess I had about 100+ posts when I moved to WordPress & got AdSense approval with my domain email address in December-mid only. Earlier when I applied using BlogSpot, I got rejected multiple times.

At the same time, I tried numerous advertising networks like Bidvertiser, Infolinks, Chitika, Kontera to see which one works. Later on I used AdSense + Infolinks + buySellads + Affiliate marketing for long. I was getting a good number of traffic back then from search and as well as social bookmarking sites. Digg used to be a great source for me & made few homepages back then.

Since you are browsing the old archive of ShoutMeLoud; let me share you one thing that made a lot of difference, i.e., I experimented a lot back then & I do that eve today. Try that in your venture & you would see the notable difference.

        It is possible @Pooja,

I accidentally came to know about this blog today.

5 years before when i was in school, i plagiarized a guy’s blog who didn’t have any kind of ads, he was more of a tech person. I edited the tags, i copied the posts and ran the blog on my blogger url, i had some 40 posts copied from him regularly whenever he posts, i edited the content a bit , and At that time google adsense rejected me, i had to go for kontera text ads, and infolinks.
I ran it for about a month, and earned some usd (around 60) within 2 months, i had it in paypal,
i then stopped doing it, coz i started these jus to try and jus to know how it works and the blog is now defunct.
