DMOZ is a free open directory project. It is a human edited directory with less editors compared to large number of blogs submissions who manually accept and reject the blogs .Though its free but getting into DMOZ is very tough. It takes lots of time because of large number of submissions and less number of staff.
DMOZ directory is used by many sites, so getting listed on DMOZ also helps you boosting your search engine traffic.![]()
How to submit your website on DMOZ?
Head over to DMOZ website and go to category which suits your website niche. DMOZ is very peculiar about the quality and unique content. So make sure your blog maintain the quality line of DMOZ guidelines.
You can read about there guideline before submitting here : DMOZ submission guideline
Now navigate to the best suitable category according to your website niche and then click on Suggest a URL.
Make sure you submit only your Homepage and add a description. Keep the description part simple. If it’s too much promotional it will be bad and editor might not want to waste his time. DMOZ editor hates affiliate content , few affiliate is ok but if website or blog is dedicated more on promoting stuff it will be a straight away rejection.
I have submitted my blog in DMOZ, now what?
Once submitted, sit back and relax. The blog approval/rejection can take one week or may be few months.
Directory submission is good for the website as it will help your search engine ranking but Beware of spammy directory submission tool. If you are a blogger and looking for long time blogging I will suggest manually submitting blog is the best option if you are not willing to take the risk of automatic directory submission tool.

Bro!!DMOZ is an elusive dream even for probloggers. There are top notch bloggers whose submissions haven been aproved for like ages. Moreover, there are talks bout gaming the DMOZ directory by payin up the guys involved in editing and approving blogs there.
I’ve actually tried to submit my blog to Dmoz, but no news from them even an email, perhaps get rejected already.
Have your blog get listed in DMOZ already?
