Are you a Mac OS user & looking for a reliable desktop-based tool to check for Grammar & spelling error? If yes, today I have good news for all the Apple lovers. Our favorite proof-reading tool Grammarly now offers a Mac version of this tool.
They already have a Chrome extension, the addon for Word on Windows & web app to check any document for errors & plagiarism. If you have never heard of Grammarly, you should know it’s one of the most talked tool in 2015 & they are adding new features every day. Grammarly offers freemium model where you can use this tool for free & if you like, upgrade to pro version for premium features. You can read the complete review of Grammarly here.
Grammarly for Mac: Desktop based Grammar & spelling checker
Today I was working on my new eBook & wanted to download Grammarly Word add-on for Mac. Unfortunately, they only have Grammarly Microsoft Word addon for Windows. Fortunately, I got to know about their Mac app which more or less will take care of the proofreading on the desktop.
Grammarly Mac Os app is a cloud-based desktop app & all your documents will automatically sync with their web app. If you don’t have an account on Grammarly, you can create one from here.

Theirs desktop app also supports Drag & drop feature, so you can quickly drop your MS Word or any other text file on the app to start proofreading & checking for plagiarism. That is pretty useful if you are hiring writers. Once you are logged into your Desktop app for Grammarly, you will be greeted with familiar web app interface.
I would recommend you to pin Grammarly’s icon to your dock, as you can anytime drag & drop any document to start the process of proof-reading. If you have a huge document like an eBook, for that you need to use copy-paste, as right now it supports document up to 20 pages.
Overall, your experience of using Grammarly on the desktop is similar to using Web-app. Though, I would truly appreciate having Grammarly add-on for Mac version of Microsoft Word. Also, in coming days it would be good to see if they launch support for other popular writing apps for Mac such as Desk or Blogo.
For now, if you are a Mac OS user, you would love having the power of Grammarly on your desktop.
